Call me old fashioned...but the 90's NBC and CBS themes are the best sports themes in existence.

I don’t like the CBS’s theme from this time but the NBC’s was classic and so is Fox (same as today too)

I agree. And the ABC Monday Night Football theme is epic too.

I'm still trying to find the video of when the Cowboys vs Bills second game and they played right now by van Halen. The 90's were so awesome.

From a lifelong Rams fan, I was ecstatic for John Elway to win that Superbowl. I remember watching that game and cheering when John Mobley broke up that pass

In the late 90’s when FOX came, they brung the future of NFL on TV, they gave a futuristic feel, while NBC gave the feel of what NFL on TV was until 1994-1997 & gave that old school, sometimes nostalgic feel.

I noticed that NBC was very, very slow to "change with the times". NBC incredibly reluctant to put up a permanent scoring graphic bug, when Fox had been doing it right from the moment that they began broadcasting the NFL in 1994. And I believe, that 1997 was the year that ABC finally got around to doing the same for Monday Night Football. But it seemed like the people running NBC Sports at the time (e.g. Dick Ebersol and company) were locked into this mindset that a permanent scoring graphic might sway viewers from not wanting to watch the entire game, if they instantly know what the score is.

The continuous score and time on the screen was probably one of the best innovations of the 90’s along with the first down line.

Not an upset. There, I said it. These teams were evenly matched, and people favored the packers, simply because they're in the nfc, and they won the previous super bowl. That's the only reason why. All the red flags green bay had in 1997 were ignored, like losing to the 0-10 colts, having a turnover differential of zero, brett favre regressing, the defense giving up 282 points as opposed to 210 in 1996. I completely understand if you had the packers favored. When you win a super bowl, and have another 13-3 season, you deserve credit, even if you are overrated, but 11 point favorites? That just shows how much respect the broncos got entering this game, even though they were similar to the packers in most ways. Literally, a 2 point loss at kansas City changed everything. If pete stoyanovich misses that kick, denver gets home field in the afc playoffs, and maybe they get some respect, but knowing the incompetence at the time, they probably wouldn't have gotten any respect whatsoever, because they're in the afc. This was an upset, because the world needed to shut the hell up about the nfc owning the afc. The streak had to end sometime, it just happened to end this time. It also showed red flags can't be ignored. Specifically, the 97 packers' MANY red flags. They were very overrated

One of the biggest problems with NBC Sports in the late '90s and the turn of the millennium is that they were slow and reluctant to keep up with the times. It just made them look really outdated, backwards thinking, and stubborn. When Fox got the NFC package from CBS in late 1993, it became a major game changer (no pun intended). Fox was the first network to have a permanent scoring bug on screen (if you want to get technical though, ABC and ESPN first did it for the 1994 FIFA World Cup) among the big for North American teams ports. It's little surprise then that CBS, when they picked up the AFC package from NBC, introduced their own scoring big.
