Super Z 2x2x2 Skewb demonstration and tutorial

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

So here is a mass produced puzzle done right! Fangshi's Super Z 2x2x2 Skewb. A very playable and well made puzzle. Just enough of a challenge to occupy your attention, but not so much that you need too much of an investment. No new algorithms.
Enjoy!

I LOVE all the helicopter cube look-alikes. I am now waiting for the day that the other combinations get mass produced (helicopter + 2x2, and helicopter + skewb)

Thank you for such an enlightening video. I must say that as someone who has only become interested in cubing and twisty puzzles relatively recently (2022), I am simultaneously overwhelmed and excited at all the twisty puzzles the world has to offer. I appreciate Adam G. Cowan's contribution to the twisty puzzle world with his invention of the original helicopter cube in 2006. Unfortunately, just in looking at what I have to choose from today, I actually find that the User Interface of the original copter cube to be sorely lacking and the reason is as you state: the cuts seem to suggest it can articulate like a 2x2 and a skewb. I actually have a basic copter cube arriving in the mail, but only because I was not looking closely enough during my Black Friday haul and I felt especially rushed as the sale was about to end. The original plan was for me to skip the copter cube entirely and start with a curvy copter. With the way things are at this point, it looks like I will have them both. I wonder if I can find a decal maker on Etsy who will print out small enough decals that will allow me make to make clear on at least one of the cube's faces that the copter is "not a 2x2 or a skewb." I was also very pleased to find a $24 Amazon holiday deal (3rd-party seller) for the FS limcube 2x2 + skewb. A google search of the puzzle is what led me to your video in the first place. Do you mind clarifying for me what the situation is for the 2x2 + skewb + copter super-hybrid cube you're looking for? Is it just a pipe dream, or can it be accomplished? It's been a year since you've made the video and I hope FangShi/limcube is still giving it a try. In this video, you also showed us an example of a 2x2 + copter hybrid that you said has not been released into the market yet (btw, how did you acquire the prototype?). Do you know if they have made any progress on that front as well? My most aggressive research has only produced two FS limcubes: the Wonder Z and the Super Z. I don't quite know what the differences are between them. Perhaps one of them is the 2x2 + copter hybrid? Thanks again for your coverage of these cubes! I also have your earlier 'Holiday Special: Copter Collection' on my queue!

Nice video. I had to figure this all out a few months ago on the GhostZ when that was the only version of this puzzle that was released, while never having solved a SuperZ, and with no tutorials available to guide me. I managed to figure it out successfully after a few days of playing with it and I consider that to be one of my greatest personal accomplishments to date in puzzle solving. The feeling I got from that solve was the same feeling I got the first time I ever solved a regular 3x3 Rubik's Cube.

A guy named Jason Smith has already created a combination of all three (helicopter+2x2+skewb)in 2018! He calls it Jr. HeliSkewb check out his channel, he has a bid regarding this puzzle

SAV, thank you for all of the great tutorial videos: they are extremely helpful in understanding cubing concepts. Would you please post a video on how to solve the Evgeniy bandaged 4 x 4 (fence cube), and the Harley bandaged 5 x 5 (jammed 512 cube)? I am completely stuck with both and your videos are the most helpful. God bless you!

Hello SAV, another interesting video, thank you. I have spent countless hours these last couple of years watching and re-watching many of your solves and your classifications. Your endeavours have encouraged me to expand my twisty puzzle acquisitions outside of the 'cube' family (nxnxn) and like you I now have a soft spot for the cuboids. Now re-watching your Megaminx solve using 3x3x3 strategies I wondered if you would consider perhaps doing one of your great 'classification' videos but in terms of solve strategies rather than 'shapes', for example the Megaminx (a Dodecahedron) is sovled using similar strategies as a 3x3 (a cube). Is it just about the same 'layer number' (i.e. Megaminx and 3x3x3 are both 3-layer) so could the same thing be compared to say a 4x4 and an icosomate (both 4 layer) albeit it seems the 4x4 'fisher' and icosmate would be near neighbours because they have the orientation/super aspect to them. Being able to pick up a puzzle and think 'hmm... I wonder if I can apply some of the same principles as shape X with the same layers' is now very empowering. Before I wouldn't even bother looking at some shapes thinking them too complex or requiring very-specific-this-puzzle-only algos (which I will forget in a week!), but your channel has given me a lot of hope and, more importantly, tons of hours of mental pleasure. Thank you.

Hi Antonio! I have a belated request. How did you condition your skewby copter plus to make it more stable? Hope you see this and sorry for the retro request in the wrong place. Take Care.

4:48 I do on a 2x2x2 the two corner swap with a more easy to remember secuence: ( R U ) * 7 + R It swaps just the two corners that are bottom left without moving them at all, in other words it moves all the rest (six) corners in such a way that the final state is like if the two corners not been moved were swaped. It is really funny, it swap two corners without moving them, a must try ... it is mind blowing at first time used.

You should try solving the ghostZ. It's also printed by limcube. Or try the 2x2 + Helicopter + skewb which does exist. Anyone remember what was the name of that puzzle?

I have the truncated helicopter Z and cannot seem to solve it. There are always two pieces that want to switch. Can you do a video or a quick suggestion on how to solve those? They don’t have corners so maybe if you start with the wrong face it might give parity? Idk 🤷🏻‍♀️

Where did you get this puzzle? I've been trying to find an aforbable one for years. Edit: Limcube has released a mass produced a 2x2x2 Skewb! it's almsot $40, but that's better than a few hundred dollars you'd spend to get it custom 3d printed.

Would you be able to show us the mechanism of the 2x2 skew hybrid? I can't understand how it's possible. Also I just want to say I'm so glad you point out that the skewb's natural shape is a face turning octahedron. Seems so obvious to me.
