Super TRUCK : Super FLOP! ~ a W900L 144" show truck Custom is just BAD
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
as in really bad - spec errors kill this truck (light 13.2k front axle and long wheelbase pushes too much weight forward - the front weighs in at 15k empty, it is overweight on the front axle and darned little payload on the rear) it is a heavy duty long haul custom sleeper truck with shower room and a separate bath room. This is a BIG TRUCK... 350" wheel base... C15 Cat power - it is SOLD ..good luck with that ;)

The Flop is, it has an Automatic Transmission.
Beautiful truck! I actually love the separate bathroom/shower idea... no more having to do a complete wipe down when you want to use the bathroom after someone else just took a shower. If I wasn't temp hanging up my keys in april to go on a 5 month/2,650 mile hike I would love to buy that truck. I guess I will have to check back with you to see what you have avail in late fall when I come back and am back in the market for a condo sleeper like this.
383,000 miles correct me if I’m wrong but it sounds like it may need an engine overhaul soon but the kenworth looks like it’s been well cared for I’ll take the truck
@stayingman I should also note that by simply slowing down and taking care to "CAREFULLY" manage momentum, reducing speed to 55 mph -sometimes less; coupled with low rolling resistance tires the square nose classic lines truck like Kenworths' W900L can approach and even exceed fuel mileages common with much more aerodynamic trucks such as Kenworths' legendary T6 series.
While you're hauling 80,000 lbs for $1/mile, these trucks are usually hauling specialized items, like jet engines, expedited freight and such for a lot more money than you'd think. . I'll take one in black please.
mane i bet it's hard to hook up to a trailer with that big sleeper on that truck is it?
NOW THAT'S A SLEEPER, Although I would have gotten cherry interior.VERY COOL .
@stayingman Hi Stayingman, first off thanks for this great video. It's a pity that we can't have stuff like this in Europe... Damn small roads. I want to ask you a question: did you notice that some trucks with sleepers like this don't have the exhaust pipes? Do you know where are they placed? Under the truck? Thanks in advance.
wow beautiful truck.
awesome!!
@redlinerunner83 - something between 210k-240k will get most of them bought but this one would be in the 300k range. I am not familiar with the term "tomb stone sleeper", but "cool" for some, if they can do it and still haul their load, that is the point.
what model is the latest truck w/ sleeper this year? (2010)
@gamerdestroyer - as of July, 2010 the current model year of a new ordered Kenworth truck (the kind I sell) is 2011. If you are asking about specific models; the aerodynamic T660 is more practical because it consumes less fuel at speed, but still,,, the classic W900 has its adherents. We are delivering some of each.
coming to think of it expertise is the key and a spotter comes in handy once in a while which is all true your right, i like this big sleeper rigs ,so what the retail on one of this at least 300k to half mil 500k? and here is another question what the purpose of a extended frame truck with a tomb stone sleeper i kno they look cool but i see no point?
@redlinerunner83 - a lot of it is simpley expertice. For example, the Southern Pride drivers know they will be hauling something related to an aircraft engine - big airport to big airport usually means an interstate highway exit at each haul end. Some van line drivers count on a local to spot their trailer and too, maybe equipment adustment? Sliding tandems and 5th wheel pin settings, lifting a trailer axle... sometimes by moving pivit points, the imposible turn becomes posible, or not ;)
Most feel this monster truck is a little large for many of our our roads, too. Exhaust stacks? Yes, more truckers are going with horizontal(under) exhaust - now, we occasionally spec/sell horizontal exhaust on Kenworths' classic W900L. WHY? A couple of years ago fuel hit $5.00 a gallon - fuel surcharges did not protect many owner operators and many failed. Dual external stacks might cost 2 tenths of a MPG in wind drag... say from 5.5 to 5.3mpg... at 120k miles/year and $5/g : thats $4,116!
The sleeper is almost as big as a caravan, but it looks cool tho
awesome truck! but how do you deal with small docks or small container ship yard..lol i cant imagine driving that big rig in Queens,NY since i deliver the pfizer med's( i'd just had to ask)?
awsome the only thing missing is a slide-out which i havent seen yet!!!!
what no washer and dryer hahahaha
Things like this are for crew drivers. The only way to make something like this is to hot bunk three drivers and keep the rig rolling 24-7. I see many moving vans with extended sleepers that have crews aboard.
Multiple GPS for redundancy. GPS units fail at the last second, which could cost you an hour just to get back to where the damn things fail in the first place.
that wood be nices to have something like that to take camping with ya ? or use it to take it camping it wood be good for hunting like a deer hunting or take it on the oregon coast semi truck I like that ide that is a better way to go with it how much dose it cost if you want to buy one ?
all I can say is wow....
This is the kind of truck you buy when you don't want to go home for long periods of time. Or maybe you just want to give SANCHO a little more time with the old lady !!!! At any rate, unless you're hauling tampons, this rig is just to damn big to work practical. And that folks, is the rest of the story.😎
what is the price of this truck
@flatliner35 aint that the truth :) particularly that transmission model with the go cart type clutch. Not very sexy, but easy. Wives many times co-drive these big ones and help pay for em - at least on paper, and some wont drive at all unless it's an automatic. The reliability of this one has been good and it is fairly easy to get good mileage if you give it an easy pedal.
ماشاء الله ماشاء الله ماشاء الله سبحان الله VERY NICE Good
@BigBlackMamba101 - No, no, that could get me shot! I sell these trucks. But, not all of them. Occasionally an interesting truck comes in whose owner will allow me show it to the world...
Husband and wife teams, use these
So you say at 2:17 "just an awesome, awesome truck". Yet in the description you call it a "super flop". I'm lost......
Sorry, no doubt, my thoughts touched retirement, with scheduled implementation in a few months... but, maybe too, it was that I couldn't drive myself to act excited about a very expensive truck whose most interesting aspect was a critical spec error, ( undersized front axle that I could not publicly talk about and still be employed. We didnt build the truck but did take it in in trade and should have known better. I understand ethics prevailed and it ended up being responsibly sold)
I like fat tire trucks cause of heavy duty hauling!
As A Former only 1/2 Mill driver before health went To hell, Some one Please inform Me Why this is a "Flop"? Other Than Overkill even though Overkill still has its purpose to a few. Obviously This is a Special freight rig, & For long Time Out On the road. Yet My Question Still? Thanx
ditto
Couldn't haul 20 tons with it
BREATHING A TAD HARD DON'T YOU THINK?
@2233qwertyuiop - I have slept since it sold but I am thinking it brought about $80,000. A similar new ordered truck today? $250,000, maybe a little more, given all the electronics and the special headache rack.
Empty weight what 40,000
ha baby
fair enough - and my bad, as I made the video just after one of the guys took it in on trade ...I walked up to the truck assuming all was well: a really nice looking truck with big money spent on it when new. The big fat tires on the front end masked the axle problem. It became a flop as we discovered it was really heavy and the front axle was actually much lighter than the 20k axle that would match the tires. It sat on the lot for months before we found a buyer.
Will you take $50 for it?

+john imburgia I wouldn't give a nickel for it! There's only one bed, and if you're running a team, and the second driver had to sleep, at the same time, where does he go? A complete waste of money. bling don't make a cent and chrome don't get you home. I drive an '05 FLD120 Classic XL, it's a company truck, but these guys let ME do whatever I want with it, they pay for it. Ain't no big splash of chrome it's pretty, and I look after it like I owned it. Pie wagons like this W9 won't make money, front end is too heavy, and it's just all wrong
Heavy haul nothing. These damn trucks weigh to much to take on the industry standard net weight of 48k lbs. Probably can't exceed 30k without putting it over the 80k gvw without special weight permits.
how much gas does this rig burn ? the driver must be a rich guy.

No gas at all. Not a drop.

It ain't got no gas in it 🤨
Ok phong you need to learn something about trucks.... The tires don't mean anything when it comes to heavy hauling.... It's all about the main frame and the number or axles..... And for the video y the hell would you put money into a truck that's a manual
Grow upand and learn the terminology they are not "fat tire" trucks they are running super singles so very easy term to remember "Super Singles"
