I think that's also because Akuma's super is only available on the Dreamcast version which was released almost 10 years after the original game I believe, and he already had it in more "advanced" games like Street Fighter Alpha 1/2/3 and Street Fighter 3

Balrog's special is probably the best, because even if it's blocked. You end up so close to the opponent that you can perform the best grab in the game.

Though i'm not 100% sure of the translations accuracy the Shun Goku Satsu has been translated as both 'Instant Hell Murder' and in the EX games as Prison Killer.

It not only looks cool, it has a 2 frame start up and his SPD had no whiff animation (meaning you get a punch attack when it fails). Lemme say that slower and louder: A SUPER COMMAND GRAB IN 3 FRAMES :/

Yeah, it's the Super Street Fighter II Turbo Revival from 2001 (that's the real title). I think the ports that came after this one may have implemented Akuma's super, also, but I'm not sure.

T-Hawk and Zangief’s are extremely hard to do.

IMO though, the implementation of the Super Combo is a reactionary move on Capcom's part to the super moves of SNK's fighting games like Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting and King of Fighters. Notice that their super moves are just their special moves done twice

In all honesty ST, despite the valuable features brought to the series, was a cheap product. In the Cps2 era Capcom's best technical and human recourses were shifted from SF to Marvel and Darkstalkers. SF didnt show much creativity in its supers for most part in the Cps2 era: ST and SFA 1-3. It was only different in SF3. Although barely surpassing the creativity of contemporaries like MvSF, MvC1, DS3 and Jojo.

The Capcom vs. SNK pissing contest is so silly. What you said is fair enough, but all the series you listed owe their entire existence to SF and copied so many basic concepts from it. Not to mention the number of people who have worked for both companies at this point...there's so much shared DNA they might as well be the same thing. I dunno why more people just can't enjoy both without crowing about one being better than the other.

Along with the Fatalities from MK. A lot of those were similarly lazy. Western games didn’t really pick up on super moves.

It's great for combos, full-screen anti-air, chip damage, and he can use it as an actual C-C-COMBO BREAKER since completing the input pulls Ryu out of block & hit stun scenarios; best super in the game which a mediocre Ryu player can use twice per round since he builds it very quickly.

Back then these super combos were impressive, today they look pretty tame compared to some of the insane supers that came in later games in the series. That having been said, regardless of how they look, you better respect these moves cause they'll drain your life meter quickly.

What I realized is that these older games were resourceful with what they had available. From Art of fighting to SSF2, they just used sprites available me and combined them together or exaggerated them to create supers.

It's supposed to hit 4 times and knock down, but the hitboxes and frame data are so bad that most of the time it just ends up doing what's recorded here.

What version IS this ssfII? Normal versions Akuma do not have a Power bar...

How did you get the New Challenger pallettes to perform super combos?

How did you get the characters to be able to do their supers in their original colors? Usually, you can only play as their ST colors unless you put in the code to play like SSF2...

Select the SSF2 version of the character, then let the CPU win. On the continue screen, have player 2 join in and when the character select screen comes back on, have player 1 join back in, but DO NOT move player 1's cursor as the cursor will start on the fighter you lost as along with the original color scheme. Then wait for the game to select the fighter, player 1's fighter will keep the original color. This also works for the Playstation version and the Windows Steam version, but not Hyper Street Fighter 2.

From the version that I played, you can select different color including the original color by pressing different H、M、LP/K when you select the character. I remember it was always the original color with HP.

Outside of emulator cheats: Lose a match when playing as an "old" character, then don't touch the controller after continuing.

Whenever I play this game I can never get guile’s green alt. How do you do it?m

I thouht their original color did not come up except with the trick which turns them back to the Super version, but that way they could not have the super attack, that was the arcade way.

How can you do Akuma's shun goku satsu?

Wait, how are the players in the original colors able to perform super moves? ST had new default colors (i.e. Ryu in black, Ken in white) My point is, you can select the original default colors in ST, but they’re the “super” versions from the previous game, and the inability to perform super moves.

Probably playing the arcade version in an emulator with cheats active to force the player color choice to their original used for the "old versions".

Without emulator cheats, there is a way to do this: - Play an old character - Lose and in the continue screen, press 2P start, then 1P start after character selection - Do not press any button in character select as 1P
