Honestly kinda insane that a franchise like metal gear , a series that’s talked about war , death , loyalty and countless of insane and serial stuff is represented in smash , although now a days snake doesn’t stick out as a sore thumb, given we’ve had characters like Joker and Bayonetta, franchises that talk about dark themes like metal gear , but back then it was just so weird but also so cool to see a character like snake in a game alongside Mario and Sonic

Not knowing who the heck anyone was as a kid, all I knew were two things 1: this guy had a missile launcher 2: that was the only information needed

The inclusion of Snake in this game is what actually got me interested in the Metal Gear saga. I grew up with the original Smash Bros on the N64 and I was 15 when Brawl came out. I was starting to search for more adult videogames and I found Snake so be such a cool character. I also had a PS2 at the time, so I bought a copy of MGS3 and damn... That game blew my mind. Now Metal Gear Solid is probably my favorite videogame franchise ever along with Zelda.

If one were to put Subspace Emissary into the MGS canon, I'd say this would take place between MGS2 and MGS4. Seeing as how Snake has his middle-aged face from MGS3, he must be slowly feeling the effects of the advanced aging he's going through to become Old Snake.

No joke I miss cutscenes like this in Smash. I was so bored of Ultimate bc you pretty much never see the roster interact with each other. I think I remember hearing that Sakurai didn't want to do these scenes anymore bc people would spoil them online. I mean I get it, but it's not fair to punish the entire community for the actions of a few.
