Super shoe distortion on landing during a race walk

Спорт

This clip of a race walker's foot is taken at 120 frames per secon. It shows a single ground contact with a thick soled shoe including a foamed Pebax midsole and moderator plate. The sole distortion may add to a judge's visual perception of lifting since the foot does not decelerate as rapidly in this type of shoe as in thinner soled shoes with traditional EVA midsoles.
There is no one 'best race walking shoe" on the market. You need to try various models and find one that works for your personal biomechanics.

Somewhere between art and science! Fascinating.

Was juat talking about this and will be emphasizing in my shoe reviews - never the perfect shoe.....but still want to find a few geeks for a chat about what theoretically would help a racewalker shoe-wise!

Individual biomechanics, race pace, the surface, perceptual differences-- just some of the reasons I stress that you should test shoes before purchasing them even if you feel self-conscious race walking up and down the aisles of your local sports store.
