Xaecre ssj3 is probably what your thinking since it takes a lot of ki to maintain even for a short period. Ssj4 is one of the most ki conservative forms.

Thats because the form became obsolete when forms such as SSG and SSB became much more powerful and efficient than SS3, in that it didn’t provide enough power to be viable, where SS1 took little to no strain by the time super started.

@@jayclearmen411 Unfortunately it has never been stated in the manga or in the anime as to why Vegeta never achieved this form. DBZ didn't give him enough time to tap into this level of power and in DBS he unlocked more powerful and stable transformations.

Always wanted a video explaining SS3 since it's the most underrated form of goku's this video covered almost all my Questions thanks.

Although I guess that now since they have god ki and all that any new super Saiyan form prolly would be useless and not as strong as SSG or super saiyan blue

I always felt like to “discover” SSJ3 for the first time it takes an ungodly amount of stamina/energy. You either have to be dead or during a fusion. Like a normal living Saiyan could never break through that initial wall.

Agreed, although I prefer this. As the guy said in the video, the dark pupils, lack of eyebrows, and thick, long hair makes Super Saiyan 3 just that much more menacing to go along with its power.

@@KyngAllandin It is mine as well. It makes much more sense as a Sayian form than the other forms. It is Sayian human hybrid look. It also makes Goku into a no nonsense powerhouse.

I love SSJ3 wish it was fleshed out more imagine training to tune down the energy consumption or something lol and i believe that is the case in super i see this form gets a lot of hate which sucks because its def one of my favorites

Love how his voice changes to a very deep and serious tone. Sean Schemmel makes it so cool

SSJ3 is my most favorite transformation. It encapsulates the meaning of being a sayain while adding a badass twist. It’s a shame it wasn’t used more.

SSJ3 is still my favorite transformation from Z! Also, looking forward to you covering Kale's Berserker form.

I think Buu was the perfect type of Villain for the transformation to be exposed too. We get to see the progression of characters into power we have yet seen, Took the same trend with the Cell saga with Reaching new levels of power but Learning of its drawbacks right away(this keeps the arc from getting boring with the same old new form = Win). Depending on what Version you are watching you are told that 3 CAN defeat Buu. But it would need to be quick and decisive, a VERY hard thing to do against such a monster.

Super Saiyan three the best transformation for ending fights quickly and has the capability for great overkills wasn’t given to Vegeta The one transformation that fits his character perfectly but of course Akira Must’ve forgot that too

I always thought SS3 was at its full potential in the buu saga, it's just that the form is flawed. you can train to make it last longer, but it will always drain your stamina completely eventually.

My personal favorites are UI and SSJ3. I guess I just like it when goku is more serious and not talking as much. And of course the looks.

And just like that, this series has gone ever further beyond my expectations! Amazing work, Geekdom.

I’ve always had a kinda silly theory that SSJ3 just takes all the hair on your body (Eyebrows, Pubic, Arm, and leg hair, etc.) and just throws it all into your head hair. This is probably not true but I’ve always just thought this was the gross case.

If Goku fought people in ssj3 form it would be over really quick because that's what the form is for and I think he can't master the form because he don't have a tail

@@LastGREATEST0 Simple Ssj 1 and 2 could be mastered without the tail, but Ssj3 is achieved by expelling massive amount of energy from the body to reach and even deeper well of power, problem is the body cant hold on it as its constantly flowing out like sand through ur fingers, the tail for saiyan has a specific function, i believe it acts as a regulator for the saiyans power alowing them to hold onto their energys for longer, i think with the tail mastery of Ssj3 is possible.

You’re right because in GT Super Saiyan three was used perfectly because Goku had a tail no energy really leaked out of his body

I will always remember Sean Schemmel saying in an interview, that he actually passed out during that scene - ss3 puts out so much power that even the voice actors struggle to harness it

It's kinda sad how ss3 is treated by the writers and the way it has so much potential.

My favorite transformation. Now this may be heresy to mention it, but it seems like in Super Dragon Ball Heroes Goku Black was able to unlock a “full power” SSJ3 featuring eyebrows and instant tail regrowing. Looks somewhat like a genuine precursor to SSJ4.

The Gohan hair looking ssj3 looks far better

I think that even in Super, the Super Saiyan 3 transformation is still somewhat taxing for Goku as he even explains to Kale and Califa that the form burns up to much energy and he couldn't handle that at the moment. But than proceeds to transform into Super Saiyan God shortly after, as though the God form itself doesn't burn up as much energy and stamina as Super Saiyan 3. The issues with the God forms seem to be in the difficulty of actually transforming rather than maintaining the completed transformation. The regular Super Saiyan forms all seem to have increased difficulty in maintenance of the form that is only mitigated by conditioning their bodies to be more used to the form, while the God forms seem to not have the same type maintenance issue and can only better be utilized by understanding the form and being able to bring out the power of the form itself. Goku says it himself that the Super Saiyan Blue form requires a calm mind and a high level of Ki control to achieve and maintain the form. The God forms in effect require mental discipline and high levels of self awareness. This seems to be made the case even further with Ultra Instinct which challenges the user to step away from the seat of control entirely and allow subconscious impulses and instincts flow freely with out the restrictions of conscious thoughts. Subconscious Impulses being the attacks, while Instincts being the defence. The form requires a level discipline to maintain that is just unfathomably difficult and is why Goku literally couldn't hold on to the form for more than a couple minutes at a time.

Yea, essentially Goku learned how to better maintain Super Saiyan 3 but he hasn’t mastered it. It’s such a high powered form that it’s too taxing on his physical body. When he’s in the afterlife, he’s able to fully use its capabilities since it won’t tax his physical body

The funny part is that when this uploaded, I was playing Legends and I wanted to learn more about Ssj3 Deadku.

The concept art on the left at 1:27 is dope af. Honestly they should've had that as the real ssj3.

This is some quality Dragonball content. I have been a fan of DBZ (Then Dragonball, then GT now Super, and yes as an American kid that is how we experienced it in the 90s lol) for as long as I can remember. I have been binging playlists and the information is spot on and I have yet to hear any massive over sights or obvious things that were not explained. I actually had worked with some friends years ago to create a d100 roleplaying system for DBZ. Looking forward to binging more vids

Sting I think in GT it was stated he mastered it but since he was turned into a kid, his body couldn’t handle that form. And also him having his tail using that form gave a huge advantage with controlling his stamina or ki. Now I might be incorrect with all this because I don’t remember if this was fact or fan fiction

I would hope he mastered SSJ3 after those 4 years leading up to BoG. The only real reason I didn’t think he did was because in his fight with Kale and Caulifla he did say the form drains and that he wasn’t ready for it, but I guess he was tired. It just to me implied that it still drained

Better yet still Krillos if they flashback it because they are also introducing us to SSG/J3 Goku and that God Ki is what balances the weaknesses of SSJ3. Show the flashback before Goku utilizes this form as his daily driver. He won't need to tap into UI/MUI for a long time if SSJ3 gets its weaknesses balanced out by combining SSJ3 with SSRed and later SSB. Vegeta would finally achieve it too once he saw that there was no energy drainage issues n all. Royal Blue ssgj3

I see SS3's looks as if all the body's pilosity went in the hair, making it extra long and with no eyebrows. Really liked the explanation, for I only read the original manga in Japanese (paper) and never got the chance to get the guidebooks. Thanks for you work !!

An animator for dbz said that once a goku retain his tail in gt it gave much control over all transformation. Giving much ballance so gt goku could stay a lot longer in ssj3 with tail. I like that explication 👀 that saiyan tapped to their primal form like ssj4 etc and ssj5 later on. Instead trying to imitate a god.

My theory is the ssj3 is an incomplete glimpse form of the legendary super sayian, the Original super sayian form and the only reason goku & gotenks couldn't maintain the form is because of their good natured characteristics clashing with their ruthless primal sayian instincts.... A war within their mind, body and soul .... Instead of embracing the chaotic Legendary super sayian state they repress themselves from acquiring their true form. In the efforts of doing so the power struggle strains and takes over the body thus limiting the time a sayian can maintain the form.

Vegeta didn't use SSJ3 for the same reason Goku and Vegeta didn't use GRADE 3.

Vegeta skipped it/ didit use it cause it remininemded him he actually would of lost to Goku when they fought after the world martial arts tournament when vegeta was Majin. Vegeta knew about SSJ3 when be died because they where talking about it in other world and knew Goku held back while he was going all out. Thats why vegeta got mad when he was brought back and said i heard all about about your SSJ3...etc Hence vegeta finally gives Goku his respect when they was on Kai planet and Goku was in SSJ3 i belive when vegeta was talking.

An underrated transformation, a shame that it's not used more.

Super Saiyan 3 is actually my FAVOURITE Super Saiyan form out of all of them. Just the look & design of it just screams epicness & powerful. It's a shame that Goku no longer use this form in his arsenal.

SSJ3 is my favorite transformation. Regarding Majin Vegeta vs Goku; I see it like this: When Goku got back to the look out after fighting Buu in SSJ3, Piccolo asked him if he could've beat Buu, and Goku says that he probably could but wants the Z fighters to take care of it because he wasn't always going to be around and at that time, was dead and only had a few hours left. With that logic, Vegeta lives to beat Goku. If Goku is back for a day, knowing Gokus nature, he would rather give Vegeta a good fight rather than humiliate him. If Goku went SSJ3, he would've stomped Vegeta, then went back to otherworld. Why not allow Vegeta to believe he matched Gokus power/possibly defeat him? Also, per Gokus word, if he went full power SSJ3 and not fooled around, he could've beat Kid Buu.

I could be remembering things wrong, but I am pretty sure that in the DBZ manga, Trunks and Goten do realize the limits of SSJ3. If am thinking correctly, there is a scene in the manga, when they are training in the Room of Spirit and Time, that shows them talking after just having separated from fusion, and they are talking about how they didn't realize they could do what they just did. They talk about how it caused their fusion to cancel out too, if I am remembering correctly.

I'm waiting and so hype with hope super comes out this month?

Goku even said during the TOP against callifla that it still takes too much power when he showed them, he goes ss3 and powers rite back down saying it uses too much energy and he doesn’t have enough energy, so I’m sure it still uses energy even tho he perfected it.

I like how dbz characters and transformation look so simple at the surface but if you do a deep dive analysis the concepts is pretty interesting.

Ssj3 is a cool transformation but at the same time it had serious drawbacks, and I wish Vegeta had ssj3 in the manga and anime cause I've seen really good artwork of Vegeta with ssj3.

kyle anderson In my opinion it's up for debate. On one hand this was gokus first time fighting buu so he didn't have a good grasp on buus abilities. But on the other hand goku says this after he saw everything buu had to offer so who knows. He also was even confident enough to beleive he could beat kid buu with his full power nd we all saw how powerful kid buu was compared to fat buu. So who knows.

That's true. But I think Geekdom's argument here is that Goku couldn't defeat Fat Buu not because SSJ3 itself was lacking, but because Goku couldn't bring out all the power of the form in the first place, due to the form being relatively new, being on Earth, and the energy consumption cutting away too much Goku's time. That to me sounds pretty bogus though. Sometimes we dont need to overthink stuff in DBZ, so I think that Goku couldve rekt Fat Buu if he wanted too. But you know, Goku is dumb.

Ssj3 and one punch mans’ meteoric burst boros are really similar, both have really long hair, increase speed and power and can’t be used for long because of its drain
