Whoever decided to make "Tank!" an attack needs a promotion

Normally jet plane units will never make it into my permanent team in SRW games, but when a plane unit is being driven by Spike goddamn Spiegel, I am willing to make an exception.

Well, they had planes in the OG games, not to mention all the combiner mechs (Getter Robo, Voltes, Combattler) were made up of some planes too. But the big difference is that those were weaklings. Spike Spiegel takes a plane and turns it into a force of nature.

An intro as iconic and incredible as Cowboy Bebop's can naturally be used as a weapon.

My only disappointment is that Spike never got to say, "You trust your eyes too much. You're not a chameleon, y'know? You can't see everywhere all at once!"

We have space cowboy. And it's matter of time we will get Space Dandy too

YES! Especially considering Dandy's ship can actually turn into a mecha. Plus QT turned giant in that one episode.

I got a goosebumps hearing this ost... So eargasm...

A broader interpretation of the episodes of creatures in the fridge makes it reasonable to fight Invaders and Space Monsters.

The thing being missed is that Spike is death on wheels in this game. He's a crit monster on par with Chirico and disgustingly good at dodging. Granted, T isn't a hard game by any means but Spike's competitive with fucking Van when it comes to 'watch me just take this whole stage by myself'

If Cowboy Bebop made the cut to SRW maybe that means that having Outlaw Star in the future too isn't too far off

Started watching Outlaw Star again on Amazon and I agree. The ships have freaking arms for combat. Perfect fit for SRT if you ask me. Lol

Aquarion has been in SRW before too just bring in *all* the Shoji Kawamori things hopefully Basquash is next

So, who else is up for Captain Tylor in the next game? Sadly they'd have to recast Tylor, but still, seems like a nice next step. My guess is probably Outlaw Star though.

Anything with ships is completely on the table now tbh. Yukikaze? Sure. Captain Taylor? Yeah that's great. Outlaw Star? Absolutely 100% want that. Legend of Galactic Heroes? Why not it's only a matter of time. Space Dandy? I mean it's a show within the world of Cowboy Bebop but you know what, sure. Lets do it. Hell I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we saw a Shmup ship like from R-Type, or the Ikaruga at this rate. (And Vic viper of course, but then that'd beg the question of where the hell Zone of the Enders is!) You know what let's throw the damn Galaxy Express 999 in. Maetel can personally shoot or lecture enemies to death. Lets throw in Dragon Pilot too. Just go for it.

@@Kiyosuki As far as battleships go, I'd like to see the Queen Emeraldas next. Go for the Matsumoto trifecta. My DREAM would be the inclusion of the original Pacific Rim jaegers, and Megas XLR just to add the retarded comedy portion to the game.

@@Kiyosuki Now that you mention it, I actually WANT to see shmup ships in SRW. I personally want to see the Rynex from Thunder Force 4, and the Styx from Thunder Force 3 and Gauntlet, Brigandine and Vambrace from Thunder Force 5 for good measure. Also, I know this will never happen but can you imagine if Western space operas made it to SRW? Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate, Babylon 5, and Firefly. Heck, since they have done crossovers with Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, and Ultraman, can we pleeeease finally get a crossover with Gridman, Gamera, and Godzilla? Or a PROPER crossover with Keroro and MegaMan?

A dub for a Super Robot Wars game would be so expensive and time consuming man, you'd potentially have to get to contacting studios/agents from L.A., New York, Houston, and even out of the U.S.A. in Vancouver, Canada to get the original casts together, then you have to pay the voice actors... But man, I would love to see something of that scale pulled off

If space battleships can be in the franchise then I don't see why the Swordfish 2 can't be in it.

So, now SRW now has the Swordfish II. I wonder if this means what we can see the Fire Leo starfighter from the Thunder Force in one of the next games. I'd like to see it and hear the Metal Squad version from the SRW composers.

You're overthinking it, the franchise is primarily mecha based, they're not about to start throwing in ships from STG games just because they made a one-time exception for Cowboy Bebop. Each series that joins the franchise needs some kind of plot to bring to the table, and plot is something most STG games aren't known for. Plus, you need a main character to represent the series, and games like Thunder Force don't have one (at least not human)

Entries like this make me hopeful that somewhere in the far future Mega Man will make an appearance. Or X. I wouldn't be opposed to either one.

Never. The core SRW games follow a strict rule (then again their previous title added Bota-kun from FMP who is literally human sized) which the mechas (and fighter jets/planes) being added must be pilotable. Megaman doesn't even come close to that. What would be interesting if SRW started adding in kaijus from either the Ultra series or Godzilla since we already have series from this game where they fight aliens, monsters, beasts, and etc.

@@WatcherMovie008You see Watcher you say that, but if I told my younger self 10 years ago that there'd be a SRW mainline game with the Cowboy Bebop crew, Captain Harlock, and earlier SD Knight Gundams, Space Battleship Yamato to name a few of the insane things that have been added in more recent titles (and we've had Tekkaman Blade in one of the portable ones, meaning things as human sized as suits are not off the table and we already have sentient robots not piloted by anything as well.), I'd have laughed it all off as impossible because it'd be breaking one rule or another. I'd also probably crack a joke about King K Rool being in Smash Brothers. I'm just saying I don't think the SRW rules are as iron bound as they used to be.

So, what exactly is Cowboy Bebop's place in the game's plot? Is it after the events of the original anime, or do we get something with Spike and Vicious?

it actually covers some important events from the plot like the team meeting for the first time, Vicious and the red dragon syndicate are present in the story working with some antagonist from other series, a couple of villains and side characters made it in the game too.

Not much involvement, Spike meets Vicious in one scene and was saved by Ray Lundgren from GxS. At the ending of the game we find out that Spike died raiding the Red Dragon syndicate. However this ending I got was the bad ending because I fucked up a few things. People on the subreddit said there is a way to save him if you increase his points which I did not since I don't feel like a plane is a mecha thus I did nothing for him.

They're part of Spike's Moveset, but no. The Swordfish is the only Bebop Unit in the game.

@@LeonStephan Red Tail is freaking armed to the teeth with anti ship missiles and giant autocannons, so...yeah. It has more bang than the Swordfish II. As for the Hammerhead, you could have it do ramming attacks, or have Jet harpoon the enemy and then whipslam them into the ground or an asteroid. With a combo system like OGS, you could have him enable snazzy combo attacks with Faye or Spike, or all three, leaving the stylized triple combo as their ultimate combo attack. Also the Bebop(helmed by Ed and Ein) would have been a fun secondary ship, like the Garencieres. A lot of missed opportunity, ah well.

I didn't know Cowboy Bebop was added in Robot Wars oh well see you later space cowboy

I thought the Swordfish II was great, with the animations and the Tank theme, I just the final attack was more impressive, instead of just it's first 2 attacks together

Sometimes the character just never did anything fancy enough to be a proper Ultimate. For those situations, they take the Trump Card route.

Bonta-Kun is a secret unit. Meanwhile Spike gets to be the first protagonist that fights primary on some underpowered plane. Tekkaman Blade comes very close when the main units are a transformed human fighter and a space fighter.

It's too out of place. I mean, jets in space? Only Airforce Delta Strike went with that shenanigan, strapping jets with space boosters to move in zero gravity. Vulcans and missiles are rather mundane compared to the myriad of energy based weapons, not to mention magic and the supernatural Still, there is Yamato's Cosmo Divers, but that's an actual fighter designed for space, not a modern jet

But as crazy as it sounds, it could work for Ace Combat, or hell, even Project Wingman to join in. If SRW V had the Cross Ange mechs modified to allow for operation in space, they could do something similar for planes like the Raven or PW MK1.

Maybe not in SRW, but AC superplanes wouldn't be out of place in Another Century's Episodes. Still, would be a wildest wet dream to see the Trigger flying alongside Getter Robo, Hi-Nu Gundam, Mazinger Zero and have everyone else in the roster wondering how a mute psychopath pilot with three strikes can keep up with them.

y'knoq, now I am just wondering if they've ever had Atomic Boy. can't imagine his butt guns would do too much damage.

I know this is obvious, and has probably been said before but, Transformers when? I can't name a time Hasbro has allowed Takara to use them in any Japanese exclusive games, except that one Smash clone on the GameCube. Plus Takara originally made the damn franchise, they deserve something...

It seems difficult to borrow if there is copyright outside Japan. That was the case before HEROMAN appeared on UX. However, Cowboy Bebop has appeared because of many requests from fans outside Japan. In the future, it may respond to the needs of markets outside Japan.

I thought the same, but SRW always manage to adapt pretty well any title whilst keeping their overall essence.

Because they have only Japanese voice actors, and besides, the translations get worked on in Southeast Asia. Getting English voice actors is costly.
