Happy Romhack Wednesday!!

I was expecting the enemies to be little Marios, waiting to gobble you up to get big!

Prior to this Romhack, I'd wager that no one had ever been intimidated by the speed of a reconstituted donut. Also, well-played fake-out at 12:44

I feel for the poor mushroom. It helps Mario grow, but no one helps the mushroom grow. It's very vulnerable.

Your content hits the incredibly rare trifecta of wholesome, entertaining, and not obnoxiously annoying. If only more channels we so good, I would not feel the urge to use my son's phone for skeet shooting lol Cheers, Maribro

@@whee2390 Case in point: Ludwig. Dude is wholesome, entertaining for sure, but in a rather obnoxious way (to some people). Energy is too much to the point it can seem arrogant/obloxious, other streamers I can think of: xQc, GrandPooBear and Barbarous. I'm subbed to all of these people and enjoy them, but I can also understand how these streamers may seem obnoxious to other people.

Really makes me respect super mushrooms. Thank you for showing us this documentary.

I would love to see someone make a live-action movie based on this story. The hapless portobello mushroom hops on glazed donuts, powdered donuts, donuts with sprinkles and chocolate eclairs, all just to rescue a tiny plumber boy so he can saute and eat it for nourishment to grow big.

Some day, you'll end up playing a rom hack where you play as Bowser.

this hack is so cute, those spike enemies masquerading as tiles was really genius, wish they used it more! Maybe we'll see them again in super fireflower lol 😊

I think the red donuts that troll out from the coin blocks are altered mushrooms. There are no powerups, but rather powerups were made into additional enemies. That's pretty cool; it's a clever way to do something unique.

I have never felt so threatened by donuts until I've watched this video, now I am nervous to open that box and get a very aggressive donut jump out of it and try to beat the shit out of me!

For the "You Can't Have Fire Underwater" argument, you could actually tell people that you can if it's a magnesium fire. I'm sure that there's other materials that can burn underwater as well.

That end-of-video splash screen at the softlock was just sweet.

I'm not a fan of every enemy looking like a donut, or whatever those enemies were meant to look like. It needs more variety in the enemy sprites. Also, I don't like that there isn't anything to power up the mushroom, which means you can only ever take one hit.

enemies in blocks? "play as a mushroom"? this must be a Super Mario Maker 2 level

okay, so, i managed to clock super mario bros. 3 - athletic as level clear and kirby's dream land - float islands as underwater.... i wonder what the rest of the music is

This romhack must take place at Donut Plains.

I'd also recommend Genyuu Mario Bros, which is also by Garuna. That hack is definitely way less cheap than Super Mushroom or Tetris Mario Bros, but it's still quite challenging!

I want to see a romhack now where there's a secret goal to get all of the, say, hidden 1ups, and the ending screen tells you how many you missed. I wonder how much programming that would take.

The black donuts disappear when you stomp them on the stairs because they are still in the air. If they were actually on the stairs, they would not disappear.

Really like this hack. Weird, a little mean, but well crafted. Hopefully one day the "story" or confirmation on what the O enemies are can be discovered.

Very amusing odd hack. Everything being a donut / fruit loop is fine, but the mushroom should definitely get a powerup, perhaps the same type of round projectiles that some enemies launch. Most of the levels are good fun challenges except for the invisible platforming parts. Greatly appreciate lots the naturally funny Kosmic dialogue and reactions 😄

13:50 8k kick opportunity? I think maybe the first one you tried earlier was a different sprite that's essentially a goomba.

This hack looked really great but, let's be honest, it should have been Marios that dropped out of the blocks.

What if the Donuts are Lifesavers or Lifesaver Gummies? It probably wouldn't explain the black ones, but otherwise it could work.

Out of all the donuts in this game, my favorite are the black licorice ones. I don't exactly like the ketchup, mustard, or wasabi ones.

I feel like the creator of this ROMhack really missed a trick. Everyone knows that arch-nemeses of mushrooms are truffle pigs. It would have been great.

It's partly a joke about how in SMB1, lava and water _in non-swimming levels_ are the same thing, just with different colors (and that both are visual background only; they do nothing) There may be some additional history about how this meme became a thing in Cosmic's stream, but even without that knowledge, it still works as a meme
