Super Mario Galaxy - Rosalina's Observatory Piano (Waltz Variations)

Музыка

Here's another iconic tune from Super Mario Galaxy. Rosalina's Observatory and everything that comes with it are a big part of what makes Galaxy 1 edged out it's sequel IMHO.
Also this is an impromptu Bonus Round of VERSUS. A series where I go head to head against another pianist to see who's arrangement reigns supreme.

=======(The Details)=======
As soon as I was finished with the Gusty Garden Arrangement, I knew I wanted to do this tune as well. Originally I wanted to run through the theme 3 times, getting louder/more full textures with each pass to simulate the evolution the theme goes through in-game. However, this arrangements often take a life of their own and I just went with the flow for this one.
The theme gets played in full twice. The first I kept sparse and relatively easy, whereas the second goes into all sorts of variations. I hope you enjoy this timeless Waltz.
Your Pianist,
Erik C.
P.S. Up next is a calming medley to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of one of the most popular games of all time.

    2:34 is where it gets me. This grand waltz suddenly stops. There’s a pause, then this calm rendition begins. Reminding you that this is, more or less, about a young girl lost to the endless expanses of space. Well done.

    Story: When I was a little kid, Mario galaxy was my favorite game. I played it so much, but I can barely remember it. As soon as I heard those first few notes, it was like a switch in my heart was flipped, and I was back in that old house, before I went to school, before I had responsibilities, when life was so simple. Now that disk is probably somewhere, scratched, under a pile of other old games. thank you so much for letting me remember a song that I have long forgotten

    I always close my eyes for my first listen to your new arrangements, and I gotta say, this one was really special. Dark media room, Wiimote in hand, face glued to the TV screen 2 feet away. Hopping, jumping, and running around the Observatory exploring all the hidden spots. Then near the end when the piece gets softer, you can almost hear the giggle of Lumas as you give them star bits. Very nostalgic, thanks Erik! Much love from Texas!

    Thank you so much for bringing tears to my eyes. This game is the first Mario game I ever played and is my childhood. My dad bought this game when I was about the age of 6. I loved watching him play it. I soon created my own save profile and played myself. I was terrible of course, but the wonder and curiously was there. Looking into the beautiful emptiness of space, and the brilliant colors of the observatory really made me excited and ready to explore the crazy galaxies. When the song slows down at the end and softens, it makes me sad. Mario has always been a part of my life, but as the song fades it reminds me of how my childhood is too. It makes me cry but I am so happy that I got enjoy the memories once more. Thank you again so much for letting me revisit my childhood.

    One of the most legendary piano pieces I have ever heard arranged. I come back to this video two years later after posting this comment and have begun my piano journey 15 months ago. I am playing fantasie impromptu in a concert next week! All started and inspired from this piece, which encouraged me to pick up piano. Thank you erik. Thank you Mario.

    3 years.... It was 3 years since I had a Nintendo Wii. I had Sonic Unleashed New Super Mario Bros. Wii. And Super Mario Galaxy Super Mario Galaxy was the most played game I've ever played since Super Mario Bros. 3 Hearing this reminds me of those times... I hope you reach your dream goals and live a happy life. You'll have plenty of Subscribers and fans by the time you've finished your path. Now, we can listen to masterpieces in harmony.

    I’m currently playing Mario Galaxy on switch for the first time since I was 8 and it still is one of those few games that can spark true wonder in you and give you good dreams if you play it before bed. The only difference in playing it today is that I have 99 lives and I don’t have six hours a day to play it. Nintendo really is the maker of childhoods; I wish I could have played botw as a kid.

    Personally I think you won the rendition contest. The emotion in your fingers is suited for this piece. I can hear the tender joy in your sound. You aren’t trying to show off with this work, which is why it is more effective. You save any flashy parts for the true climax. And the END! That was a truly beautiful touch. Bravo!

    This is one of my all-time favorite graceful tracks in a Nintendo title. It sounds so similar to people dancing to the Waltz.... I absolutely adore this piece. As you unlock more and more areas in Galaxy, this piece gets louder and more defined as well. It's like it is a small bit muffled at the start of the game, but then it comes alive when you bring more life to the ship.

    when me and my older brother were kids i always sat next to him on with my white wii remote while he had the special blue one, and he always played as mario and i sat next to him and watched while i collected the star bits and shot them back and rosalinas observatory is so nostalgic and i feel like a little kid again, before my brother left for college i used to sit next to him while he played the piano and listen very closely because i knew i wouldn't hear him play in a while, and all of a sudden he started playing rosalinas observatory and i started crying so hard i had to go to the bathroom and freshen up for a while now my brother lives so far in college and ever since his last visit we've argued so much and now we barely talk and this song brings me back so much i miss my kuya
