A shame none of the extra jingley-dingles could be made, but frankly this sounds so GOOD I'm gonna let it slide. This is a FANTASTIC reimagining of my personal favorite 2D Mario game. Hits me right in the best parts of the Childhood. Definitely gonna keep an eye out for whatever you cook up next.

@@skydevil It's pretty fantastic. Maybe one day some fan will pop open Famitrackers VRC6, and finally complete the little jingles and pait them along with the rest of this grooving music. Oh well- I'm glad you made this anyways! OST reimaginings are some of my absolute favorite things to listen to. Keep up the good work!

I can't belive no one noticed it, but for the overworld theme he used the Edit theme from SMM2.

Yee The Mario Maker arrangements are great and I wanted to implement some of them somehow. The underground theme in this is partly inspired by SMB1's underground edit theme!

Super Mario Bros 3's soundtrack just makes me so happy! ❤️ These covers are really great, they've got the same lovely pleasant vibes as the original but with a unique new sound. I love the energy you added to the Athletic theme in particular. I also really like your cover of the P-Switch theme, it's such a simple tune that it totally caught me off guard that you even did it, but I actually really like this version of it.

yeah, the soundtrack is full of goodies. i had a lot of fun with the athletic one! the p switch theme was actually the first thing i finished for this project. to be honest, i wasn't planning on covering the whole ost, but after doing the p switch i knew what had to be done hahahaha

Oh god... This covers are awesome The athletic theme made me cry of how beautiful it is, that's how I used to listen to this soundtrack when I was 7 or so Incredible job!

I love how you incorporated the Super Mario Maker editor versions of the level themes into the rearrangements and combined them into something fresh.

underwater has that analog feel to it with the modulation. well done!

These are cool, they're simple but they work. I think I would have liked to see more creative deviations from the originals. Really put those channels to work and come up with some cool ideas on how to fully expand on these classic songs.

Honestly i was a lot more into the later ones- world maps and extra themes. They feel more creative and cool probably because those songs gave you less to work with from the start.

Honestly, I half expected much more complexity myself, even though I know much of the OST can be difficult to implement it in, it can be done in some ways. Still, simplicity works well.

This is Legendary -btw SMB3 is my favourite 8-bit- -Mario Game-

Absolutely splendid. 👏 Now the best work of your own composition was that of the Underground tune. That is truly married into it.

I love the Mario 64 Bowser motif in your version of World 2. Really enhances what used to be a 5 second loop.

That underground theme getting pretty funky though 😳

one of the best uses of the VRC6 (or similar) for this game if nothing else, would be to have a separate track for sound effects so they don't interrupt the excellent music in this game.

This takes my favorite game to a whole new level. I can’t begin to tell you how much I love this. Perfect job on this ❤️

I’m really grateful that you made this. Would you be okay if I took the NSF file that you have in the description and try to put them on an actual SMB3 game?

This is why we should all trust VRC6 when making 8-bit style music.

Guess I'm obliged to state the next joke... 5:54 [ahem] SMB3 Miniboss sfx 6:36 smooth 9:59 Entry of the Gladiators in bonus game!? 13:07 SMB1 Miniboss sfx- /j. Smooth remix as well, though 15:36 and 16:05 at this point just became two of 100th Coin's themes to me 17:05 Ah yes, the ACE theme. 17:42 smooth pt.3 18:01 no way you included the [P-Switch hit] sound 18:29 Starting the Starman theme off slow really caught me off guard on first listen. Overall, nice compilation of SMB3 remixes.

These are TIGHT 👌🤘

It would have been nice if Nintendo had actually done the soundtrack this way. They had five channels to use.

World 2 theme reminds me of the desert level in the Mari0 mappack called Super Mario Bros Reimagined. Jokes aside, you are so good!

The sawtooth needs more prominence in the darker themes (airship, koopa fight, etc;). Still its perfect for the lighter environments

kind of - it still follows limitations, just different ones to that of the NES! theoretically, this could be played on console, if the cartridge had the right chips

Amqzing work! I love the atheltic theme! Why did you choose to not use some channels in some of the pieces? E,g, the overworld theme doesn't use the triangle channel. As you've given a link to the NSF I assume your cover is free for use as long as you're credited?

I didn't know what to put in some empty channels to enhance the track, so instead of trying i just left it empty . or I felt a channel wasn't needed. yes, all my work is freely available under that condition . thank you again!

@@vgmdeconstructed it's hard to say exactly how long it took, but i started taking it serious in march 2019. this video is from august 2019 so... only a few months on-and-off to get used to it to the point where i could take on a project like this. i used covers as a way to familiarize myself with learning the program, without having to worry about composing, so yeah covers are definitely a great thing to do. best wishes to you! i hope you make lots of cool stuff!

thank you for all your comments! if you want to get into making nes music, there are tons of tutorials out there for getting started. you don't need to know how to play piano to get into it either! the internet's cool cause there are resources everywhere for just about anything. i recommend installing Famitracker, and checking out Teuthida and Ben Burnes' Famitracker tutorials as a good place to get started. if you want to learn more about music, there lots of videos out there on youtube, and websites in general about theory and all that good stuff. i wish you the best! (p.s if you have any questions feel free to ask me on discord or something)

This is amazing? One question, though. When I imported the .nsf into foobar2000, I noticed there were 2 slightly different Airship themes. Was this intended?

hi, thank you short answer, no it wasn't really. long answer, the second one at the end is actually an earlier attempt that i scrapped (for obvious reasons hehe) and threw to the end and kind of forgot about. i only noticed after exporting the NSF that it was still in there, but decided to keep it in as a thing people could discover for downloading the NSF? sorry if it caused any confusion haha

In Dn-Famitracker (and other FT versions, the one in this video is j0cc) you can view the register states by hovering over the top bar, selecting "View", and then toggling "Register State". Good luck with your project!

in the description i list some programs used, although i would use dn-famitracker today (github.com/Dn-Programming-Core-Management/Dn-FamiTracker) for the music. that's the spirit! if you're willing to learn then there are some good resources out there: battle of the bits' lyceum (battleofthebits.com/lyceum/View/FamiTracker%20Effects%20Commands for example) is somewhat of a one-stop shop for all kinds of chiptune needs, as some if not all pages will have links to tutorials, wikis, manuals, etc. i would say a lot of my learning came from playing around with the programs, experimenting while reading manuals they may have come with. good wishes to you, glad there are still enthusiasts for that classic sound o7

For athletic, I prefer you imitate the style of the earlier vrc6 cover and adding back the touches of the original. Otherwise, all's good.

@@skydevil someone did a vrc6 version of that athletic track earlier, and it improves over the original, but it lost some of the smb3 touches and turned it into a castlevania track lol. It was nice regardless, yours and that other one.
