Vernon is very outspoken against racism and discrimination and while a lot of Kpop idols are worried to state their stance on such issues for fear of backlash from netizens and their companies Vernon and the members of Seventeen speak up on those issues such as racism, women's rights to Equality and for LGBTQ rights. Seventeen even made a statement given by Vernon that they embrace their LGBTQ Carats and stand beside them for Equality. Choi is also Chwe just spelled in different manners. Vernon is his stage name it is his middle name and the maiden name of his mother she is Caucasian American with French ancestry roots.

39:27 It’s actually just the same pronunciation as Choi, the correct one is /Chwe/ or other instances /Chae/. The only difference is their romanized spelling, probably because Vernon also has his name registered in romanized form when he was born. But it’s pretty much the same in Korean (최). Also, Hansol is his real first name while Vernon is his middle name from his mom which he used as a stage name. So his full name is Hansol Vernon Chwe. ^^

yeah from what i remember his dad specifically wanted to register it as Chwe since that's how it's pronounced in korean. It's always intresting to me since in my native language we spell 최 just like it's pronounced it korean so i was surprised that I learned that it'a different in english

Ooh yes, an hour long. I'll have something perfect to watch before sleep😂🤣

Because there are some clips from this series in the guide i'd really recommend you to watch their "Hit the Road" series! It's on their KZread channel and is like a documentary amd contains behind the scenes from their world tour. It really delves into each members' personality and one could connect more on a deeper and emotional level with them. Each ep revolves around a certain member where they talk about themselves. Like if you're interested i would highly recommend this but yea you'd have to keep your tissues ready ( especially for scoups' episode)

And the Caratbong is the brightest lightstick in the industry, and has legitimately saved at least 2 carats' lives during typhoons...

LOL For most of the carat, we have main bias and then we support all of 13 LOL, Our 13 baby.

Yay it's finally here!! :D I really enjoyed ur reaction to this so far. I can't count how many times I've watched people react to this guide but I think I enjoyed yours the most just because you pay attention to even the littlest details and as a Carat myself, I find that really enjoyable to watch. kinda funny how you asked if you can call him seungcheol bec cheol himself is so "sensitive" (in a jokish way) with names ppl call him 😭 he gets sulky if members or other people call him by his full name "choi seungcheol" . he also tends to get a lot of nicknames from k-carats like asparagus, 최또삐 (choi is sulking again), ratatouille, and all and i mean ALL possible 4-syllabled words existing in korean also *GASPS* jihoon is faltering

Vernon became a bias-wrecker after I watched his Hit The Road episode - because I found him so chill and relatable.

I'm not yet done but WOOZI faltered a bit as your bias?!? Nooooo, it can't be hahaha. Stay strong, our woozidan! And it's usually Hoshi who takes the leader role on stage and Jeonghan & Shua on other matters when Cheol was not with them... That one awards night though, it seems like they assigned members to speak for each award but they got a "special" (questionable) award so everyone was not expecting it so Hoshi must be out of it as well. Add: A little story on Vernon's surname "Chwe". It's actually still "최" in Hangul which was normally spelled as 'Choi' in English. Vernon's mom, who is an American, thought it's weird to have it as 'Choi' (tsoy) but the more proper pronunciation is 'Chwe'. That's the reasoning as far as I remember.

I'm somewhat halfway through the video but first of all I'm really glad you're enjoying and you're watching the 2022 version (all versions are good but I really got to like the most updated one) and Happy Hoshi day~!!

Had to come back and finish (watched bits and pieces on my break at work). Glad you are getting to the introduction vids! I also have a great weakness for idols that rap lol. I have an ult bias in SVT and then I bias one person from each unit so that helps, but most carats consistently change their bias (you’ll understand the more you go into their personalities lol) Seungkwan (vocal) is my ult, Mingyu (HipHop) bias, and Hoshi (performance) bias. Honestly ,The leader role actually kind of gets split when Cheol is not available or on hiatus. The unit leaders already take on performance responsibilities (Hoshi (the hype man) and Woozi), Jeonghan the “keeping in line” and encouragement role and Seungkwan (though he’s one of the youngest) guides anything regards to introductions/hosting/talking and promotion wise unless it’s in English speaking areas then that falls to Joshua. The perks of a group of talents/personalities. Anywho, can’t wait for the next reaction (do you have a schedule?). 👋🧡

24:47 about this I think there’s not a named stuff like that but when Cheol is not there the ones doing the greeting are Hoshi or Woozi since they are also leaders but also Jeonghan or Joshua since they’re the oldest members after Cheol, but as you saw also other members do the greeting or the goodbye like Vernon in the clip, so it’s not an official thing 🫣

If Cheol's not around...hmm...how do I say this... nobody really takes his place... 😅 If OT12, Jeonghan takes the hyung role, but just ends up going crazy... If Jeonghan and Coups isn't around, Hoshi takes the leadership role... And then in smaller sub-clusters, whoever is the oldest usually leads the greeting... But at all times, SVT w/o Cheol is always chaotic and a lot of times, lost.. 😅

39:09 i don’t know if someone already said this but actually, no they are the same haha. seungcheol and vernon have the same family name 최 but it can be romanized two different ways; ‘choi’ and ‘chwe’. ‘chwe’ is more similar to how they actually say it in korean but it’s hard to perfectly replicate the sounds that are made with roman alphabet. you might notice that in subtitles it will sometimes have vernon’s name as ‘choi vernon’ and that’s just because ‘choi’ is the more common romanization and they don’t know he spells it ‘chwe’.

They put mountain as one of the options name for fandom and I think hoshi the one keep forcing the name up lol luckily the members didn’t pick the name or else we won’t be carat 😂

Yeah according to coups himself, seungcheol is fine but just make sure to not include his family name (choi seungcheol) because he will become sulky

@@TriceeXO most of them actually hate it and usually because they drop the honorifics since they consider themselves all friends (note: usually in the korean culture..when someone is born at the same year with you,they tend to be more closer or I guess easily get closer) so it is like they are all born in the same year..and saying their full name is I guess more odd or weird...but they are completely fine like dino saying seungcheol-ah, jihoon-ah...the one who hates it is usually scoups...but we know that it is inside his personality to sulk at a lot of things hahaha and it's cute so they just love to tease him And another fun fact about me is that aside from dino which is my all-time ult, my other biases are scoups and woozi which are your most probable bias...and also wonu♥
