There appears to be almost a limit on how much you can lift, sure the last gentleman did 265kg, which is tremendous, but how much can a human lift at this point? Can anyone see someone lifting 300kg's in the future? That would be a heck of a leap from 265, but there appears to be a limit, unless humans can change their physiology or take some new drug.

When did Botev c/j 270 kg ?
@mr.billthrower7392
20 күн бұрын
@@riesenesel176 In an interview on the Weightlifting House podcast, Botev states that he was lifting his maxes with so much frequency and ease that he wanted to lift higher assigned percentages for his training, but Abadjiev told him not to because the competition were too close and did not want to risk injury. I was told that on another occasion he tried to attempt 270 again but was physically stopped from doing so by 10-15 men in the gym, but I can’t remember where I got that information from. That Ironmind training hall video of him cleaning 250kg was only a light day for pre-competition. He said he was 90% sure he’d clean 270kg and that since the jerk was his specialty, it would have been no problem. He said he never trained jerk because he had so much overwhelming strength in the jerk that there was no point in truly training to maximum. He said that was also the case for squats as well. So no, he never did it, but after watching the podcast and seeing his demeanor and hearing the stories about him during that time, I truly believe he would have gotten that 270kg.

@@springhillfitness6837 Agreed, the snatch lift was greatly improved, but Alexeyev didn't need to push higher in the clean and jerk for lack of competition. He'd lift 260 several times in one training session. The general high performance level was reached by him so long ago. I think its because the clean and jerk is an easier lift to master.
