I hope you get the tech/track pack with the bike. Performance and track modes change the bike completely Ik you mentioned it in the vid and I’ve commented it before but the Rizoma stealth fighter mirrors *chefs kiss*

FYI if this is a brand new bike, KTM's are electronically limited in HP and Sound. @600miles and the first oil change the entire bike will be different.

(KTM 1290 OWNER) umm I just commented this whole thing for you, spent a lotta time on it, and I guess it counted as spam and got deleted so hopefully you see this again. First off please do not go with brentuning for this bike. There is a company called Rottweiler performance near where you live I’m pretty sure, you went to one of their sponsored events a while back with ktms there? Anyways please please, I can not stress to you enough to go with them for all things ktm and tuning. This bike is super corked up from factory to meet the euro 5 standards. Rottweiler makes staged kits for your superduke evo all the way up to 6 different ones, with things like power commander to give and add fuel, velocity stacks. Fueling dongles/ plugs to get rid of those 02 sensors when you go with a full decat exhaust…and you MUST get a full decat exhaust for this thing. Not only does it create crazy amount of heat for the bike…almost 20 to 30 degrees difference in operating temp..but also for your legs and body. Sounds nasty with a full exhaust. It will also increase the power up to 12/15 hp, just the exhaust. They have exhaust the choose from, big name brands, also the kit comes with new air box you can even add a race map or a zeroed out map for fuel milage…all off a flip of a switch on the handle bar while the bike is running…that choppy throttle you mentioned was the bike being super lean, especially under 4/5 thousand rpm’s…Rottweiler will richen up the bike along with the intake for air and man does it make this bike come alive…these guys are the real deal, they are the BEST when it comes to ktms. They will let you in and you can run the dyno and he can explain everything there is to know on the spot. May make a good video to have. They are on KZread too…if you don’t know who Chris Fillmore is, he is the record holder for pikes peak and used your bike along with Rottweiler performance parts to beat it, if you are looking for reassurance as to why to go with them…they are all over the ktm scene. Please trust me on this haha. Give them a call. You can drop the bike off there and let them work their magic. It will completely change the bike…I promise. Which leads me to the next thing This bike is a monster…you Have GOT to turn off the traction control if you want all the power, even if you don’t plan to wheelie like you said. This bike picks the front end up instantly and so when msr/tc is on it immediately puts the front back down and kills the power/ smooths it out to redline…with that being said even with tc off I do believe the bike still has anti wheelie control and again regulates how far up the front wheel is coming up and cuts power. Next you Must go back to the dealer and have them install the track/tech pack! It has soooo many options and rider enhancements traction control, suspension msr stuff throttle input modes/power modes that again completely transform the bike. This bike as you know isn’t like a liter bike at all, you don’t have to keep it at high rpm’s to go fast. Just shift up and use the torque and it’s almost faster. If you put the bike in neutral and rev it out as fast and hard as you can, just flick the throttle it goes from 0 to 12 rpm’s instantly…and yes you can raise the rpm limit but you don’t need to…it’s the same idea on the street…and it is something to note, when you are riding and you want all the power, stab the throttle, don’t roll into it. The faster you flick the throttle the computer will keep up with you every time. You have to try it. It’s very instant and different. It will wheelie in every gear up to 4th with just power and no clutch. As far as maintenance, the oil change intervals are Long…at least for me. I Change the oil way before what it says….but honestly the engine is bullet prof dude as far as problems I haven’t had any except two…one just because I think I got some bad gas somewhere in the middle of nowhere, didn’t have a choice, but the fuel filter in the tank do their job a little too good and and keep the engine clean so they clog up, I advise you to get a fuel filter sock at the top of the gas tank that fits inside for when you fill up at gas stations. It collects all the junk. The other is if you go to put a lithium ion battery in it…DO NOT use one with restart technology. That goes with any bike of yours dude. It’ll screw up the electronics of the bike…trust me. I’ll try to rewatch the video and see if I missed anything. If you have any questions. Let me know I’ll try to answer the best way I know how. Please please give those Rottweiler performances guys a chance, I’ve done it all to my bike and it won’t disappoint. Love the new bike! Thanks I gave you a bunch of links last comment and I think it deleted because of it haha. So I wont do that. But You can find them, along with the ktm track pack online.

I have a first gen 2015 and took out a new one a few times, but I just like the first gen better. It is more supermoto feeling and more raw.

You are missing electronics package for bike - which unlocks track mode and full power of the bike!! Get full akrapovic system which requires akrapovic map (instaled only by dealer). After akra map install get duke magic box - which allows blinkers to work. Get dna/sprint air filter. And here you go MAGIC comes from this bike. There is no other bike to compare it to!!! Its pure beast!!

Yeah I've got the creamsicle one... Gotta go with an Austin Racing exhaust. Also, hopefully you got the tech pack. It gives you more suspension options and track/performance mode. It's worth it. Oh yeah almost forgot heated grips from KTM are super dope too.

Also exhaust I have the sparks TI headers and Sc project CRT slip on and then an ESE. Akra exhaust is dope but silimotor and Spark are both titanium and allow for stock or a slip on of your choice.

Make sure you put some gear on, what Kay doesn't show you is he stalls at stoplights and is afraid to lean any bike.

@imkay just letting you know there's been a recent recall on the 1290 something about the fuel injector wire harness

FYI the bike revs low because it isn’t broken in yet. Even some features like the quick shifter and shift light won’t be available till after you pass 1000km or 600 miles which is the break in period.

Did you get the tech pack with the 1290? You don't get the Autoshifter/blipper, cruise control or track mode without it

i bought a 2017 KTM RC 125 with 21 000 km (10 000 ish) mile. i bought it from a dealer 1,5 hours away from my house, on the way home i had driven it maybe an hour and the cranckshaft snapped, i had warranty tho

@@DolanMoore I’ve owned my gen 3 for quite a while…. I’m talking geometrically speaking, it’s layout is supposed to make it not wheelie. But yes, physically the bike loves to spend time on the rear wheel with little effort… I just think Kay is a little scared to ride hard

I’ve had the SDR evo for 2 months now and it’s nothing but problems. I have a few menu options missing after having the tech pack installed. Also the electronic suspension and MTC fail constantly. I’ve had it happen 8 times now in 500 miles. Dealer keeps saying there’s nothing wrong with it. Please share your experience if you start having issues with this bike

MTC failure is common check wheel sensors and abs rings supposedly really easy to damage. Also keep an eye on the front header clamp mines came lose and burst the back of my radiator ktm will fix under warranty but still a hassle

You should try rizoma ellise for the mirrors

Austin Racing exhaust, they work with KTM and have a tuning device on there site for the exhausts and any bike.

One thing is , this bike has a aggressive seating position , I went with the slower MT10 for comfort purposes. The ktm is truly ready to race , your canted forward , it has big wide ass handle bars , and so much tech .

Is it in demo mode? the red screen is usually demo mode. Normal day color is white and in the dark it switches to black

I rode my buddy's SD1290. Very different than riding a 'true' superbike. Handles ok, not super fast in a straight line (you have to ride it on torque, not horsepower), sounds AMAZING. Speed Triple RR is a lot closer to a conventional superbike, just not quite as fast. You should try one of those next.
