The fact that their was nothing between the wood and the cake is what's freaking out... Like wood splits and could easily splinter into the actual cake... Also the taste of the wood would get into the cake as well. If you have ever eaten a ice cream and licked the wooden part you'll get what i mean...

It’s finish ply which is pressure treated with steam to seal the follicles so that the surface is smooth (kind of like when you straighten your hair). Because it’s just steam, pressure and heat it is perfectly safe for use with food. Finish ply is called finish ply because it is finished being treated, it requires no sanding or smoothing. They basically iron the top of the wood which is why you’ll notice it had a slightly shiny finish, there aren’t any splinters on the surface. Hopefully that answers your question 😊

Maybe they didn't need that much cake, how big could the doll house community in a city be. Otherwise if they did need tons of cake they could had made it entirely out of cake with 2d fondant furniture But then again most people don't go to their bakery for 2d when they can get 3d Also another way to add cake is they could had aded a plot of land with green grass that they can cut pieces of cake out of.

Musty G No! That’s the reason the series was canceled on TLC thank god! All he did was fight with them and caused drama! It was like watching the real housewives. I remember it finally went off the air and my mother being like “Is that cake boss show on anymore? I haven’t seen it on in months” and she was like “good! That show was terrible and it was on every hour of the week!”. His cakes sucked, and they still do. Everything he makes was made out of rice crispy and house materials. He once made a bike cake out of plumbing pipes and no one could eat it. Shits ridiculous. Fondant is nasty as fuck too and he makes wedding cakes out of it which is like a big no no in the cake industry. Real, pure, expensive wedding cakes are from pure ingredients and flavor, NEVER fondant.

For what they are paying they are not getting their money’s worth... this is a case of more so paying for the name brand... rather then the actual quality, so as I said they really should step up their game.

I mean, I get that. But for cakes like this it won't stsnd without all that stuff. There's some elements that are cake, but it's just not tonna stand without it. Its really all about the scale of the project that determines how much can actually be cake. If you're doing a big structure like this one, it's gonna be too heavy if you use too much cake on the upper levels of the cake its just going to fall

A lot of ppl have apparently not watched enough baking shows to know that you can't stack up 15 layers of cake to get the height you want without just a tall pile of mush. And this is a short out-take clip of the process from the show - just because they don't show the entire process doesn't mean there isn't cake in there or is all made of rice crispy treats. Lighten up, y'all. Edit: see 2:34 - am I blind or is he stacking cake?

It nice and all but I just think you guys could have done way better. Doll collectors go to great lengths of detail. You could have made a China cabinet with sugar panes and dishes in the same style doll house makers use polymer to make pattern dishes you could have used chocolate fondant. Vases out of melted hard candy's. Little mini fondant flower bouquets could adorn tables in every room. Details like sneakers by the door... cookie on the table. Just imagine you could have set a mini cake on the table.

I know he is a good baker and he does have the technique to do crazy shit but it's so ridiculous how sloppy he is. This cake is 90% wood and fondant, But it's not like the detailing is intricate and delicate. It would make so much more sense if you did a cake with mostly wood and fondant IF it was up to scratch. No uneven decorations, a few rulers for measurements would be incredible. It's just not impressive when you realise how little of it is quality work.

Guys, stop saying it’s only fondant, wood and rice crispy because I know darn well unless your blind you are saw that cake. There trying to make realistic so there making a doll house part as well. They work hard on this so stop being ignorant. One time stamp-> 2:35

Okami-San Okay if this is just for display then wouldn’t a normal fucking dollhouse suffice? Cake, buttercream, fondant, meringue...you know what all of that is? FOOD. THAT NEEDS TO BE REFRIGERATED IF NOT EATEN. Does this not sound like a massive waste of resources to you at all?

They put a lot of amazing detale in it. However, I probably would have used either hard chocolate or gingerbread to make the walls, with cake supported by a base of cookie for each floor.

Looks really nice, but 3/4 of the cake is wood supports so not much of it is actually edible. In other words, I don't understand the use of cakes like that. Spend hundreds of dollars on a cake to just be able to eat the little furniture

For designs like this where there isn't a lot of cake, Buddy usually brings sheet cakes to the delivery. To make up for all the lack of cake.

milksomecows yeah, I use to watch his shows so I was aware. I just dont get it, because you could just make it out of wood entirely and it could look less droopy and more precisely made. Then have cakes decorated around or in it. It would serve the same purpose and look nicer. Still, it is a really nicely made doll house just my thoughts on this specific cake design

Nothing this guy makes is good or edible. My mother and I were happy when his showed stopped airing on TLC because it was awful! Rice crispy, or everything is made out of wood, plastics and toothpicks with crap fondant.
