You know what amazes me? Most of these cars he details are new. I mean, I'm Brazilian, and we use to mantain cars that are much older for years, taking care of them and stuff. How can people can be so sloppy is beyond my comprehension.
@tookitogo
2 жыл бұрын
New? Not really. I feel it’s more that cars haven’t changed as much in the last 20 years as they did in the 20 years before that. And of course, it’s possible that Brazil receives used cars from wealthier countries. One of the downsides of rich countries is that with high wages, a lot of repairs become too expensive to make sense to perform. So they get sold and shipped to places where the labor is cheap enough to make it worthwhile. (Or can be legally ignored, as in the case of many emissions-related faults, unfortunately.)
@izabela.wilson
2 жыл бұрын
@@tookitogo no, my friend, is not how things work here =) It's highly unusual seeing used imported cars here, because the taxes and bureaucracy papers are overwhelming - by the way, people with enough money to afford an imported car use to buy it as new. Even cheaper cars coming from China or India, for example, are expensive as hell because of taxes, shipping and stuff, believe me. Brazil is well known as a manufacturer of several models developed exclusively for Latin America, although the brands are worldwide. But even national cars are too expensive for most people afford 'em in a dealership, so buying a brand new car is like a dream, LOL. Wealthy people buy them, keep them for a while and sell for known reasons, less wealthy people can also buy, but take care of them as best they can so that they don't depreciate for sale, but most buy them used and try to keep them in the best condition as they can. It is very common for most people to have cars over 10 or 15 years old in good conditions, and cars over 20 years old are tax free. That's why people treat their vehicles more carefully here =D

@@izabela.wilson There are also much tighter safety and environmental restrictions in Canada and the US than most of Latin America. In Canada one of the reasons it’s hard to drive an old car is because it needs to be inspected once a year and updated with the latest safety features which might mean very expensive repairs and parts replacements even if it hasn’t broken down
Such a beautiful zen example of doing the work FOR doing the work. The effort and care and attention to detail is basically heroic. Thanks for the peace provided while watching this.

Really what it is, is that they give it a quick one over with everything and just don’t care bc they are mechanics, they don’t want to detail cars. He genuinely enjoys doing a good job and presenting a clean product. He’s cares, they didn’t. I mean really, he put solution on, scrubbed it, cleaned. Didn’t come clean so he repeated the process again. It’s not that it was impossible, he just cared enough to put it the extra effort.

I don‘t blame them. If the customer can‘t be bothered, then why should the dealer sort out this mess?
It’s bad enough that the owners neglect their car like this. But what fascinates me about all these details is that the owners don’t even bother removing their empty cans and so on before handing their car over to a stranger. Don’t they feel any shame?

Stephen De Tomasi I mean the car ended up with Mitch here so it’s pretty clear there is at least some desire to be in a clean car. From what he says, it sounds like they didn’t have the know how to remove the stains and tried to get the dealer to do it who also said nope, no can do. It doesn’t take much to take even simple trash gathering out of a routine. Last time this year, my car had every surface clean and free of trash. These days, there is a stain from a drink I accidentally folded up in the back center console and a bunch of reciepts/junk in the back seat. I just haven’t been able to put aside a few hours to clean it now that it has gotten to this point. Someone with two kids I imagine has even less free time than me. For some people, it’s really not a priority, and there are many more important things so I don’t think it’s right to judge this person just based on their car.
