I was there. I was a small child. We lived at 5314 Church ave. That Saturday my older brother who was 16 ran into the house and told us what happened. We ran down the street and saw him dead. That was the first dead person I ever saw. I was nervous because it was so many people there. It took over an hour for the ambulance to arrive. But he was already gone. That was a chilling day. You could have smelled the electricity in the air.

nitty gritty was a wanted man when he left jamaica for england using someone else's passport with his picture placed inside.gritty was involved in multiple armed robberies and shootings in jamaica before he left.spent a little time in england before obtaining false british documents and going to new york.him and sluggy start to spar and the dance they kept was in philly...gritty asked supercat to perform but cat told him he couldn't go and to use his brother junior cat instead.dance keep, junior cat perform and wasn't paid...him and gritty end up inna big argument and fight, gritty gunbutt him and buss him head...obviously supercat was vex.he told gritty him have to pay his brother, gritty tell cat to suck him mumma, dem buck roun a supa power and we know the rest.no rental car business.by the way cat never had no licensed gun but he got off on self defense based on witness statements, security footage and the fact that gritty was an illegal alien criminal fugitive from jamaica

The one version I heard was that Cat and Gritty were clashing on stage (likely at Sting, but then that would be the undisputed all-time top moment at Sting, if it was), and Gritty THREATENED to pull out a gun and shoot Cat… Cat promptly responded by ACTUALLY pulling out a gun and ‘bloop-bloop’, killing Gritty on the spot… Cat’s self-defence claim was justified by Gritty saying, out loud, that he had a gun on him!! I was unaware of how Nitty Gritty died until I heard that!!!

I used to pass by that store where it happened, on Church Ave when I lived in Brooklyn. The last I remember it was turned into a boutique. I’m sure it’s something else now. I told my friend one day walking by this is where Supa Cat kill Nitty, and he had no clue he lived right around the corner on Utica Ave.

You meant superpower records. I saw everything when I was a kid. I just came out the barbershop. To be honest I didn’t know who none of them were until A few days late. My older brother said don’t say anything to know body.. I saw Nitty had junior cat in corners with his gun out. I just thought it was a robbery. while super cat was walking around the same corner. Nitty turn around aim his gun at super cat and it did stick. Super Cat already had a gun on him. I saw him shoot think about 4 times, but didn’t know if if actually hit nitty, because nitty was still standing. Everything was moving in slow motion. I ran my black ass home so fast. I saw it on the news within the hour, but they got it wrong. One thing I found out about Super cat he was a licensed gun owner in New York as well.

There has to be more to the story, how does a person who wasn’t even a citizen of this country get away with such a crime of this nature and how the hell did he get a gun from Jamaica into this country? Also, in New York City, it’s a mandatory jail sentence for carrying and having possession of a gun from another jurisdiction into New York City without proper credentials, as Plaxico Burres found out the hard way. I still have a feeling it wasn’t super cat who actually did the shooting.

I boil all of this down to, Super Cat had to make a sacrifice. You have to do this to move up in the industry. This is what the entertainment business is all about. Two examples that comes to mind is: (1) Snoop Dogg murder case; (2) Jay-Z stabbing Lance “Un” Rivera. It’s Hollywood. This is how they build these characters/actors image and make money off of these things.
