Interesting. I love hip-hop, I love all 5 artists and their music, I enjoyed the show, but I’d be lying if I said I was blown away by this. Kendrick was my favourite part of the show, he brought the energy the most imo. Symbolically, I love the show for it being _‘the 1st hip hop halftime show’_ and hopefully we get more rap SuperBowl headliners going forward. But I just don’t get how what they did could be seen as the *BIGGEST spectacle* when you have people in SuperBowl halftime shows: literally flying in helicopters, jumping off roofs, riding giant mechanical animals, crowd surfing, flipping through the air, doing massive light Shows and out-of-this-world firework displays. Whether you like those artists are not, those stunts are OBJECTIVELY bigger spectacles and this halftime show is not on that same level of grandeur. It will however have the impact because the symbolism of this watershed moment of hip-hop/rap the SuperBowl, but as a spectacle itself, set-piece for set-piece, we’re not about to pretend like there haven’t been grander more elaborate spectacles at halftime.

@@nameisamine definitely not the first hip hop half time show. Way back in 2004 they had: P Diddy, Justin Timberlake and Nelly Then in 2011 it was The Black Eyed Peas 2013 it was Beyoncé 2014 Bruno Mars Pretty much all of pop has been hip hop for like 12/15 years. Even Katy Perry has rap sections of her songs. Maybe I’m biased, I’m not really a hip-hop or rap fan, and I pretty much tend to lump all of it together, and I know that there are many differences and sub-genres, just like with rock and metal (big prog rock/prog metal fan personally) I’d like to see a half time show that’s My Chemical Romance, Yellow Card, Blink-182, All Time Low etc 😂 But again, I’m pretty biased and I recognize that. Culture continues to change, and US culture pretty much is hip-hop culture at this point.

This was music from my teens and early twenties. I love these artists/their music and I was really worried the production wouldn’t give their talent or their songs justice. Mary J sounded and looked incredible. Dre sounded MUCH better than I was expecting- I didn’t know he could play piano. It was a little more tame than I was expecting somehow, but I still enjoyed it. I was teleported back in time for the majority of it. Edit: I can’t be the only one that was expecting a Tupac hologram or video for California Love.

This was one hell of a half-time show, and west-coast represented itself in a massive way. Dre , Snoop and Eminem are the kings of their generation and they showed the new generation how it's done. Rarely i seen a Super-bowl audience go complete nuts as during this performance, the roar could be felt in every living room. But no wonder really, if you have these artists who have that catalog of massive global hits, it is bound to be a party, and dang.. what a party it was! For me, easily up there with Prince's show (and that of Bruno Mars, for me his show was top 3 as well)

Honestly, I loved it. Not sure if I'd say it's my fave but it hit All the right notes. I loved that, when Dre sat down at the piano, he didn't go directly into his song. Instead, he played a little of Pac's 'I Ain't Mad At Cha". That part right there... that got me. I was wondering how they'd sneak him in. = )

It’s interesting to see the evolution of societies music taste by looking at who performs the halftime show. Go look at 1992-2022 and watch the change. I started really getting into hip hop with early 90s stuff like Kris Kross, Hammer, etc. But these songs in particular rang true to my high school days (to what some may call their hayday). The fear is that these songs wouldn't be able to be performed flawlessly as the performers are now 20 some years older...but these performances were absolutely flawless. Set design was amazing. Choreography was incredible. I'll have to agree with you. This is by far the best halftime show thus far!
