    I think the proper Botez Gambit at 12:15 was for you to take the Bishop w/check instead of the rook. You pick up the rook as an intermezzo after a couple of knight moves to fork the Quisine.

    But after you forking the king and queen and take the queen, he takes your rook. So, you are winning a bishof for a rook.

    @@mango251 Rf1xRf8 is bad there though because of Nd1xNc3. Rf1xNd1wins a knight which is better than winning an exchange, especially as it keeps more material on the board and white is down material but up on time at the end of that variation.

So your saying if BLACK takes back with the right rook BLACK is better?(and I know you meant if black takes back with right rook white is better but actually taking with the a rook(the right one) is better for black and white is winning by a mile before the qxg2 move

    I could be wrong but I think Rf7 saves the day, white must take it with the g6 pawn to mate but then black pawn goes to g6 and offers black an escape route on dark squares. Queen is covering the backrank to avoid the pawn to promote so I think it works. But in Blitz it is unlikely to see that fast enough to survive.

    He was probably thinking of Qg5, that saves black from this line of mating, but it's still lost after: ... Qg5 Kf7+ R:f7 g:f and then Qh6 to avoid B moves and mate.

    Green is usually an emblem for masters i believe. Yellow/orange is their fide rated title (eric is an Intermittent Master). And the white numbers in the same row all the way to the right are the player’s rating points

    So for Lichess tournaments you get 2 points for a win and 1 for draw. After 2 wins in a row you get a "streak" signified by the flame and you get 2 extra points per win while on a streak. If you give up half your time, you get an extra point for a win.

    Bc of this line and very obvious threat(no hate but your rating must be decently low to miss this) 0-0 bxh3 bxh3 qxh3 black won a pawn. If white doesn’t castle then the rook defends h3 so white cannot take.
