SUPER A-10 Warthog - US Secretly Tested In Yemen!

SUPER A-10 Warthog - US Secretly Tested In Yemen!
The war in the Middle East continues to grow dangerously. A conflict that began with only two warring parties has now evolved into one with over half a dozen of the world’s most powerful nations involved, including the United States, which has wasted no time in introducing the much-needed lethal close-air support aircraft - the A-10 Warthog. Supported by submarines, destroyers, and aircraft carriers, the Warthog must evade incoming missiles en route to destroy enemy forces in a war situation that is now undoubtedly critical.

The A10 is truly a badass aircraft. No doubt about it. A whole bunch of ground troops survived because of the Warthogs saving the day. And I think they should keep those machines working as long as it's possible. But I also think we need a new version that's stealthier and has more ammo.

When I was in Air Force ROTC at Bowling Green State University, OH in 1977, during a base visit to Davis-Monthan AFB in AZ, an A-7D pilot told me that the A-10, that was introduced two years before this trip, was obsolete. I told him that he was wrong. Here, nearly 50 years later, the A-10 and the aircraft that I Iast flew for the Air Force, the KC-135 air refueling tanker, lives on with no end in sight!

Way back in the day when graduating from UPT everyone wanted the new F-16 or F-15. Both awesome airplanes, but the A-10 was much more likely to get you close to the action which is why you wanted to be a fighter pilot in the first place. The airplane was designed to counter the massive Soviet tank threat in the European theater and the stated survival time in that combat theater was allegedly 30 seconds. That turned out to be completely false. The A-10 lives on and fills a roll that no sleek supersonic jet could ever hope to accomplish. Build more A-10s, they are the real deal.

It doesn't matter how good the A10s are for close air support. They have no stealth, and will be shot down easily by modern AA. Ukraine is shooting down most incoming cruise missiles and even recently, shot down hypersonic missiles with Patriot AA missiles designed in the 80s. Against an enemy with AA, A10s will get smoked. Helicopters are almost obsolete as well. The future will be infantry, SAMs, drones, and stealth jets. Edit: A10s could still be good against poorer enemies like the Houthis.

After 4/5 decades the A-10’s hands down the best over watch aircraft in our inventory today besides the C-130 Ghost Rider which is the King of the sky and master ! But the A-10’s still hands down the best at what it does below a thousand feet in support of special operators and boots on the ground, no other airframe brings what the A-10 brings in spades ♠️ as a over watch platform for our soldiers on the battlefield. Just ask any soldier who’s served in a combat mos and they’ll very quickly tell you the same ! Our department of defense would be insane if they ever remove the A-10 from active duty

Funny fact that A-10s while they worked, caused a ton of the friendly fire. During Iraq War, only like, 2 or 3 Bradleys were considered 'actually disabled by enemy fire' in the whole war. Battle of Nasiriyah is a good video to watch if you don't agree. Must have been pretty disheartening to be at the tip of the spear and in an ambush, surrounded, think 'wow here comes our plane' only to have it fire missiles and kill 3/4 of your own guys and a few vehicles before they realized their mistake and then just left. You may think, well it was 2001, but, I'm not sure people really know about it all that much; unless they were directly in a battle or saw specific details where it happened. It seems like a 'forgotten aspect' that as usual people overlook one thing and then just herd mentality with the rest of it. Granted it obviously was caused by miscommunications, but obviously optics and stuff on the A10 could not overcome that in time and they caused a ton of friendly fire damage; as said, in some battles, more friendly fire on some advance elements in the Gulf/Iraq wars than the enemy actually inflicted themselves.

Why hasnt Ukraine thought about the warthog vs shaheds? They would be far outside range of SAM's and could fly safely in the Kyiv area with minimal risk. I think its a perfect match. It would also be great hands on training at the same time in the event they wanted to go crazy and head south.

Dang, what would it take to de-mil the A-10 for civilian use? The GAUI is such an integrated part of the airframe, maybe a plug can be made to fit the structural integrity role. That's a lot of cavity for other sensors too...or fuel maybe, depending on the CG shift. Imagine the civilian uses for a platform like the A-10. Problem is, I think they'd all be bought up by retired and current A-10 pilots who just can't get enough of their machines. Forget pulling the trigger, it's that seat of the pants flying, getting from point A to point B. A pilot's machine. Airshows, crop dusters, everyday driver, scientific drone, etc.

Besides the "tub" and redundancy, and the suites, just give it better anti-air/jamming capability

First off, I love the A-10 it has saved myself and my compadres more than twice!! so it pains me seriously to add this. If you were to ask an active warthog driver if he or she would be as confident and take her into a present-day battle, say Ukraine.... I Have, several retired and active hog drivers and as much as they love and trust that machine there answer is NOI!! and it's no fault of the a-10 it's just like anything else in the end, A new technology comes along some time even before projects are done that tend to make them obsolete in the role they were designed for, but what do they know!!! right!!! lol, I pray they find the tech or role that will make this badass g.o.a.t relevant again.

If US troops aren't in Yemen, then the A-10 is not in Yemen. Any bombing within Yemen is going to be done with missiles or from high-altitude bombers. There is just no reason for low level support right now.
