I can’t believe what I’m seeing. Stunts on a float plane close to the ground/ water. Amazing.

Yes it is. It’s the 140” wing span, 120cc Bushmaster sold by Extreme Flight RC. 👍 Floats available separately.

How much hp would a normal plane need to do stuff like an rc one

At least 500HP for a single engine float plane I would imagine, possibly even more, given the weight being in the ballpark of 2000lbs or more. The thrust to weight ratio needs to be over 1:1 and it rarely is with single engine land or seaplanes unless it’s an aircraft designed for competition aerobatics. Even then, it’s rare to see TWR of over 1:1 in piston non turbo-charged aircraft. An Extra 300 has a TWR of 0.75:1 and it’s one of the best full scale aerobatic aircraft ever built. Thrust provided by engines is variable depending on air temperature and density as well. Engines perform better in colder, denser air. Thrust also depends on the propeller size, pitch and RPM. So it’s not as simple as comparing horsepower to weight. But for a seaplane, I figure you would want at least twice the horsepower of what the standard engine is capable of producing in order to do these kinds of aerobatic maneuvers.
