First flight on the lovely Supair Delight 4 on a not so calm day. Tried a D3 from a friend some time ago and I fell inlove with it. Turns out that harnesses can actually feel good.
First impressions? Felt like I changed the wing and the pilot, not the harness. Unbelievably reassuring in turbulence. When things get bumpy it just hugs you and supports you, yet still tells you what the wing is doing. Just does that without scaring the sh*t out of you, like my old harness did.
Some might say it's a bad thing, but I'm coming from a 15 years old open harness that was oversharing information. Perhaps 15 years ago, that was required to stay safe.
Never thought a harness could make such a big difference. On my old harness I would have landed 5 minutes into the flight, saying it was too turbulent, while the other guys would have flown stress free. I'm guessing that from now on I will be one of those guys that will fly stress free.
Downsides? Only one. It's a bit of a ball buster at times on takeoff. Oh, and it has less authority on weight shift than an open harness. But that can be fixed according to the flying situation by loosening or tightening the chest strap.
Getting into it was a bit challenging the first time, but by the third flight it became automatic.
I will have to lengthen my speed bar so that I can reach full speed at the third step with my feet fully stretched.
Other than that, the Delight 4 has been more than delightful. The kind of harness that gives you confidence to extend your box, but also keeps you safe and aware. Like I said, I feel that I changed the wing and the pilot, not the harness.
And thanks a bunch to Irina & Adrian Judele, amazing people dealing Supair products in our country. They just make you feel at home wherever you are, not to mention the help adjusting the harness before the first flight. Supair just gained another groupie in Romania thanks to them 😁
