Sunseeker Predator 74 XPS Docking - Captains View of this £3.3m GBP Luxury Yacht

Ойын-сауық

Join James Lumley from Sunseeker Southampton on a behind the scenes experience of close quarters manoeuvring a brand new Sunseeker Predator 74 XPS. Sunseeker Southampton (a part of the Sunseeker London Group) - 41 offices across 20 countries, we are the largest Sunseeker distributor in the world, covering the majority of the Mediterranean, Adriatic and Africa.
I am often asked what yachts are like to handle in close quarters, so took this opportunity to demonstrate how they can be positioned in tight spots, with minimal effort. We have a knowledgable team of training captains, who can take you from novice to expert aboard your own boat, so don't be put off by the daunting stories of how hard they are to drive!
A yacht such as this is a real proposition for those still wanting to maintain an owner-operator style of boating, with just 2 people onboard. She is equally at home with a full-time professional crew of 2, so the choice is yours!!

    @@TheVirtualYachtBroker you seem to handle that with ease and I get that’s a lot of experience but would the joystick of made it easier or is it easier using the thrusters is in throttles? Or do they both have their pros and cons and certain situations to use either. Thanks

    Another great video james. One of the things I love about your videos and channel in general is that you show things other boating videos don’t. Can’t express enough how much I love watching the whole step on and start up procedure/engine checks that you show. It’s actually quite fascinating how you fire everything up and these manoeuvring videos are brilliant at showing that if you take it slow and easy you can put a boat of any size pretty much where you want. Keep up the great work and if the numbers ever come up I’ll definitely be giving you a call to discuss what sunseeker would be best for me (I just hope you wouldn’t mind being on my small little channel as well) 😀

    Good question, I'm just so used to the regular controls, that believe it or not, I actually have less confidence in certain situations with a joystick. For new boaters (or those just on the water less often), the joystick will give more confidence, it's just a personal thing.

    Does the constant switching on/off on the gearbox not add wear to it?

  • @TheVirtualYachtBroker

    @TheVirtualYachtBroker

    2 жыл бұрын

    Nope they have a clutch mechanism so it's not something we usually see as a wear issue. Crashing from fwd to reverse without time to slow the shafts down would definitely increase the chances of a failure. Of all components onboard, gearboxes are actually one of the least likely items to see major issues.

    Hey, yes absolutely in theory, the engine/thruster controls make it possible to dock single handed, it is more a case of how you would deal with an emergency situation. (I have a 75 owner who regularly goes out on their own, but they have many years of experience. Personally I would want 2 people on the boat.

    There were small parts of the video that were instructive. Where one could see the starboard or port side and controls and get a sense of what you were doing. However, overall it was a blind following for anyone who does not have their licenses or is a novice at best. You need to know your audience and make a true training video that easily gets the lesson across. Video wise I cannot do what you do and kudos to you for all the hours of time you put into each video.
