Fantastic how you always include the 'actual driving' of any Yacht your sea trialing its reassuring too watch a 74ft Yacht looking so easy to control and drive (years of experience / practice i bet) really does takes away a lot of doubts that 'normal folk' can also learn how to drive navigate Yachts .. watched the predator sport 74 video you made while back and was very impressed with that yacht (and yes really like all the little details and incidentals and explanations you give in a Yacht video tour its all very interesting to watch ~ thank you James

Hi Mike, thanks for the feedback. I maintain that we can teach anyone to drive a boat of any size, with time and patience. I'm lucky enough to have been on the water since birth, so it's very much in my blood!

Hi James just seen this video. Nice little trip Down memory lane for me. I loved going up or down the Itchen into Soton Water. Or from the Base at Marchwood on the River Test, out to the Soton Watet, Solent. Then either via North Channel or Cowes Roads, out to the NAB. Or via the Needles. Its a nice 2.5 hour trip on fast bottom landing craft. We weren't able to go past Force 7, as it was equivalent to Force 12 on our little boxes lol. But best place at sea for me in the rough was either at the helm, or in bed. Nice bit of crabbing alongside. Hopefully you still up for me to do a visit. I'm still in the air waiting to see GP again to get the ops underway. Plus I sold my car the day b4 lockdown (I didn't know lol), the next day I meant to view Arnold e46 330i bmw concertible. But lockdown on. So now saving till Oct to Dec, unless a bargain pops up. If still OK, I'll message or text you. I appreciate that you have taken the time out to offer such a great privilege for this disabled fool. I cannot thank you enough. Weirdly Aquaholic was in Swanick doing a 2005 Predator 74 up for 1million approx. Such a nice layout. That 74 didn't hang around. 60 ton yacht went like a rib. Keep posting great videos sir.n

This is really informative, getting a real sense of how the boat behaves on the water. Really useful walk through of the instrumentation at the helm. As a non Sunseeker sailor I was impressed how quiet and stable she is. Lots of useful feedback while running, speed, fuel consumption, deck accessibility and coming back into berth. Have wondered why the yacht industry doesn't do this more often. When doing a car review they take them out for a drive, why doesn't the yacht industry do that too? Thanks very much. :)

Lovely Sunseeker :-) Was there a reason why you didn't use the Joystick ??

Hi Russ, the joystick is a great tool if you aren’t on boats regularly (gives great confidence to owner-operators), but I just love the flexibility of what can be done utilising the independent controls. (shame i couldn’t film the berth we took her out of, as there was literally 6in either side and a couple of feet either end to squeeze out of. In those situations (it’s a storage berth so not somewhere an owner would ever get asked to keep a boat) the independent controls are actually better. James

We have an appointment-only show at Swanwick Marina 1-9th August. I will have 5 new Sunseekers on display (final lineup still TBC - as we keep selling them!), but will likely range from 50-76ft. If you'd like to know more, drop me an email James.lumley@sunseekersouthampton.com

Yes lots of practice, but a good capt will teach you how to understand the conditions and spacial awareness. Believe it or not, they get easier as they get bigger (up to a point), once you are confident with the controls.

The Virtual Yacht Broker Is that because they are less easy to be moved by the elements? Consensus seems to be starting around 30-35 foot for a beginner
