Sunscreens sold in US might not be most effective, group says

Researchers at the Environmental Working Group say sunscreen available on U.S. shelves may not be the most effective at protecting people from the sun. The group says sunscreens available in Europe and Asia contain ingredients that they are more effective and safer than what is available in the States. NBC’s Vicky Nguyen reports for TODAY.

Didn't EWG come under fire for purposefully marking certain brands as "dangerous" when they weren't because EWG was accepting money from their competitors? Also didn't multiple other scientific communities and councils condemn EWG for using a fraudulent rating system and promoting scare tactics? And as recently as last year?

sunblock is 1 of the many things you need to protect your skin. you also need to limit your time in the sun. don't go out in the noon time sun ever. Wear hats, long sleeve, and long pants. common sense is not common, letting the sun hit your skin for a prolonged period of time is bad, it's just that simple. wear spf 50 at least, no matter what the brand or type and combine with upf clothing

There are products available in the US that do meet Australia's Department of Health standards. One of those is Banana Boat. Australia has extremely high standards for sunscreen, for obvious reasons. It may not have the advanced filters available in other countries but it you don't want to go through the shipping hassles, that is a good product line. Have been using it since I was a baby and so far my genetic predisposition for melanoma has not been an issue.

We should be able to sue. I have skin cancer and I’ve tried for years to get European sunscreen shipped and it’s impossible. I suffer from Albinism. My skin cancer is stage 2 and we are all very scared it will jump to my bloodstream soon. I’ve stayed out of the sun my whole life, but just riding in a car for an hour a few times a week caused my cancer, and the windows are tinted. I’ve also heard American sunscreens can stop you from producing certain hormones especially if your someone who must wear it everyday. This is wrong.

Where are you finding it difficult to get European sunscreen? I always have it shipped over from Amazon UK. I've been doing it for years, in different eight states. It should be very easy so I'm curious where you were located. I use altruist which is a company tightly linked to albino healthcare.
