Sunray Shadow, Tool DH and Jim Fearn in action

In this short video AAPGAI Master instructor Jim Fearn from Guide Flyfishing ( our UK distributor) presents his ideas how to fish effectively with the legendary Sunray Shadow tube fly. His casting with our Tool DH rod (with a special EVA handle) is just out-of-this-world. For those of you who prefer traditionall cork handles, we introduced for season 2017 Tool DH rods with cork handles. So, tie your own version of the one and only SS, get your own Tool DH rod from the closest Vision retailer and head to the closest river. And remember, only practice makes the master.

Oh good words from you Jim. I'm catch plenty of fish on Sunray shadow specially at the summer nights in Norway . I'm use it from 1" all up to 3" and a rule is that wing shall be twice as long as the tube! And I'm cast full DT lines 11# and 12# whit my 15.6' or 16' spay rod. Why DT many ask now ! Because I'm fish faster and catch more fish because of less pulling in shooting line ! But at low river I'm use a float head weight 9-10# and for most its about 45feet long whit a nice front taper who not splash or land hard at surface. That much important! And I'm touch and go cast it whit as low disturbing as possible. My tip is normally intermediate and long 15' I just love the new clear heads out there they fish better as they dont look as a big rope it the surface! Thanks for your video. Best regards/Bjorn 🇸🇪
