    Hi Travis, just wanted to follow up, I decided to get this bike (Sunny 1805) and I am very happy with it. I probably wouldn't have purchased this without watching your honest reviews, including the one vs the Schwinn IC4. I added a Wahoo speed sensor and this is perfect for my needs at home. Keep in mind, I have a pretty nice Pinarello Dogma F8 road bike, so I'd like to think I'm pretty picky about what I ride. Thanks again! I meant to add, I just ride this like a regular road bike and sync the Wahoo app to my Strava app, was never into Spin classes, not really my thing but I'm glad it works for many many people.

    THANK YOU for your videos on the Peloton alternatives! I was grappling between the non-magnetic SH for $300 or so, when I found and picked up the SF-1805 on Craigslist, nearly new, for $350. WOW! I'm coming from using my mountain bike on a trainer to this, and it's a whole different experience (better). The bike is solid solid, which makes a huge difference for out of the saddle work. I added a Wahoo cadence monitor and swapped out the pedals for hybrids that have both clipless and cages. REALLY happy with the set-up and looking forward to many great workouts on this. PS: I was a little concerned about the max resistance not being strong enough, but I e-mailed SH Support, who sent photos of how to make an adjustment that made a significant difference, and it's fine. Thanks again!

    Thank you so much for taking the time to do these review. These are expensive bikes and take time and effort to order, assemble, and then sell. I have been leaning toward the IC4. My only experience with spin bikes has been a Schwinn Carbon Blue at Cycle Bar. I like that the IC4 has the resistance reading and connects so easily to the apps. I was looking at the SF-B1913 which has a monitor but no resistance tracking. The SF-B1913 has a more narrow q factor than the IC4, I believe. Do you see anything else worth noting on this other sunny bike? I like how you compared the device holders in your other video, but I gather that you'll say I can't really go wrong with either the IC4, the SF-B1805 or the SF-B1913, it's just a matter of personal preference for resistance monitoring and connectivity to the apps through the bike's bluetooth or through a cadence sensor like Wahoo.

  • @Learnwithtravis

    @Learnwithtravis

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thanks Colleen! You are right, it is a lot of work, so I appreciate you recognizing that! Sounds like you have done your homework as your comments are pretty spot on! I don't think there is anything else significant to point out between those bike models. And you got it about being personal preference. The IC4 is a very nice bike that hooks right up which is great, but the Sunny bikes might be slightly better (So very close) and if the resistance display is not a deal breaker for you, I could easily see going the Sunny route. Another factor that I believe could come into play is that the IC4 is on a very long back-order... Oh, and as far as q-factor, I have been on quite a few bikes and I don't even notice it. But I have had plenty of comments from people saying it makes a huge difference for them, so it might be worth testing riding different bikes to see how your body adjusts. Good luck with your decision!

    @@Learnwithtravis Thanks for weighing in! I went ahead and got the IC4. They said it would arrive within 60 days. I'm hoping that it doesn't take quite that long. Another decision-making factor for some may be the ability to pay in installments - so I want to point that out. I didn't see that Sunny offered a payment plan, whereas Schwinn does. That was a big deal for me since I'm not able to shell out $800-$900 all at once.

I was in-between this one and the ic4 and I was about to pull the trigger on the ic4 but it just sold out on amazon...so now i'm back to this. The resistance on this one, is it similar to the Peloton on the upper end or is it a bit easier like you said on the ic4 video? thanks!

    Thanks! It has been a while since I was on that bike (don't have it anymore) but if I remember correctly, the top end was not Peloton level. The SF-B1714 I reviewed recently was pretty close and offered good top end resistance, but I think the 1805 was a little short. If you want great cardio, the 1805 can provide it. But if you want to be really pushed or want to do a lot of out of the saddle riding, more resistance is nice.

    I am interesting in purchasing this model but my only concern is lack of a resistance display. I will be new to cycling and wanted to try spin classes. I am not necessarily hung up on Peloton as there appear to be a number of decent other apps. How hard is it to match proper resistance without a display or is it not really that important to be accurate. This appears to be a good quality machine for a reasonable price and probably most important is how comfortable a ride it will be so it is used consistently. Any ideas on different formats to follow for a good workout would be appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to review this.

  • @Learnwithtravis

    @Learnwithtravis

    Glad to help Michelle! I think some of it depends on how specific you want to be. If you are following a Peloton ride, they use resistance from 0 to 100. So what I would do it see how many half turns it takes to go from no resistance to max. Then you will know roughly what your resistance is at by knowing what each have turn equates to. Overtime you also get a feel for what different resistance levels feel like. Some people want to be specific (They said be at resistance of 42, I need exactly that) while others know if they are close and the workout is good, then they are fine. Depends on the personality. As far as getting a great workout, I recommend Peloton Digital. The instructors have a way to them to get great workouts out of you. kzread.info/dash/bejne/mmdok8uKZpXPmNI.html Good luck with your decision!

    No problem and thank you Seth! I think so. The one thing I noticed is that the flywheel is 40 lbs and I think the 1805 was 44 (going off memory). So the feedback\feel\top end resistance could a be a little different but I doubt much. Outside of that, it looks like it has some nice improvements. I don't think I have tested the 901. But it is a felt pad resistance system where the 1805 is magnetic. I tend to lean towards the magnetic bikes so I would probably lean in that direction between the two. I will say the 1805 is great for most people that just want a great exercise option. Those that want to do intense spinning (high feedback\hard resistance) other options might be better. The 1805 was a great overall bike but my one big knock is that is lacked really hard top end resistance. I point this out because you mentioned intense spinning and I don't want you to be disappointed. If you don't mind me asking, what is your price range? I am about to start testing the MYX Fitness bike which is a higher price tier but not near the Peloton\NordicTrack prices range. I will keep you in mind when I start testing and let you know if that might be a good option.

    Is there a way to determine which resistance level you are on with this bike? I don't have this bike, but have an old Schwinn AC Sport which has no electronic/digital gadgets at all. It's just a simple chain driven bike with a magnetic resistance knob. I want to sign up for the Peloton digital app and then install the Wahoo cadence and speed sensor. However, the one thing I've never been able to figure out is a good way to determine the resistance setting, which appears to be something that would also be the case with this bike. Thanks James

  • @Learnwithtravis

    @Learnwithtravis

    3 жыл бұрын

    Not via a display or output. What I do is dial the resistance to 0 and do half turns all the way to max resistance. That will allow me to divide the number of half turns by 100 and I will get an idea of what a half turn equates to. Over time you start to learn what each resistance level feels like and it matters less. If you want a bike that has a display, the IC4\C6 bikes are the go to. Hope that helps James!

Options like the S22i\Peloton\Echelon EX5s that I have tested and very tough to pedal sitting down. The 1805 while not easy, definitely did not have the same resistance. If you are looking for something that can really challenge you with that top end resistance, I would probably look at other options.

    I do. I am around 220 LBS and it handled my size well and always felt very stable which I feel would be important for someone in their 60's and trying to get back to exercising. The resistance has a good range and allows you to make very small adjustments. Some bikes have a dial clicker with settings between 1 and 8 and adjustments are too big of a resistance change. This is nice because you can make small changes to push yourself slightly harder or ease up without making a major adjustment. The resistance is also smooth and easy so most bodies can handle that might struggle with other exercises. Just the thoughts off the top of my head, but I think it would be a solid option.

I am extremely new to exercise bikes and was hoping you could help me with this noise issue I have with the bike. I've narrowed it down to the "tube" that the adjustable seat rises and lowers in and out of. Whenever I sit on the seat, I notice a creaking noise when I bike. When I lower the seat all the way down, there's no noise. It's almost like the metal that connects to the seat (the vertical part of a T) that inserts into the "tube" of the adjustable part of the bike isn't tight enough and when I sit on the seat, it rubs or moves around in the "tube". I've tried tightening and loosening it, no dice. If anyone experienced this and has a fix I'd be grateful. Thanks!

If those features are important to you, the IC4 is probably the better choice. If you just want the bike or want to add your own sensors, the Sunny would probably be better. kzread.info/dash/bejne/mKWJua56ia2pk6w.html

    I have not tested that specific bike and have mostly tested magnetic based bikes... I do have the MYXFITNESS which is friction resistance and it was a great bike. I do think magnetic is better personally but not always by a huge margin. I think you still get a fantastic workout with a quality friction resistance bike.

    Stomach flu owned the family for a couple weeks and I got set back. But I am back at it. Assembled the IC4 yesterday. Going to give it a few rides to gather my thoughts and compare against the other bikes and then it is video time! My goal is to get the video out this weekend. Sorry for the delay, but it is coming!

    Hi Travis, great review. We recently received our 1805, and I agree, it is a solid bike and is super easy to assemble. I have a concern regarding a slight vibration up through the pedals, even on the handlebars. It's not much. but slight. I've read some reviews where some are noticing a lot and it stems from the bearings. Have you noticed any when you ride it? Like I mentioned, it's a slight vibration, but definitely noticeable. Much mahalo!

    Mine never did that but you do hear of that every once and a while with a lot of these bikes. I would reach out to Sunny because I think they are usually pretty good about handling things like that. Good luck!

    @@Learnwithtravis thanks for getting back to me. I’ve been calling and calling. All I get is a message asking to reach out by email. I did, and I’m waiting for a reply. So many reviewers on Amazon are complaining about their customer service. Strange, because it’s an odd sort of vibration. Just slight. But, I will keep calling. The pandemic has slowed things down, and most companies are reduced to a skeleton staff. Much mahalo.

    I saw a post on another site where a 5’4” tall woman felt this bike was too stretched out for her. She thought 5’6” min. Would you agree? I’m 6’ tall and would like my 5’ 4” wife to be able to use it.

    A quick Google shows the minimum at 5'2". It is 4-way adjustable which means it can be adjusted to fit most people pretty well. I don't have the ability to test it, but I would think 5'4" could make it work rather easily.

    I review a lot of bikes to try and help people make the best decision for them. So after I post my video I usually move on to testing the next bike to review. So while I have not personally put more time into that bike, I still think it is a great option for most people. I continue to hear good things about it and you can get a great workout on it. Good luck with your decision Julia!

    I have not tested that model myself so I can only go off what I have seen online but it seems comparable. A lot of the features (belt drive, magnetic, adjustable, solid frame, etc...). The reviews on Amazon look pretty good as well! Let me know if you get it but it seems it seems to be close to the 1805.

    @@Learnwithtravis Unfortunately or fortunately I went with the SF-B1805. The Joroto X2 & Yosuda both seemed like good options. Even with the good reviews a few still ranked them one step lower but close. Hopefully I don't regret the Sunny Health. Got the Sunny for just under $600

    @@Davan514 I have not spent much time on the road bike solutions so keep that in mind, but I think it really comes down to what experience you want. The Indoor cycling bikes (Sunny\Peloton) are permanent, always available, and easy to use and jump into content that is available. It makes it a no excuse option to easily be able to get exercise in your house. The trainer option seems to be much more for people who want to replicate that real road bike feel indoors when they can't ride. Use more ride simulator options and less "studio ride" options. Both are great options and really just depends on what you want out of your indoor ride.
