Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Here is the first part of the sunminx tutorial. You will have to decide if you really want to buy this puzzle and deal with the annorying interal bandaging, and if you have one, this is how I solve it.
Only one algorithm:
Internal piece 3 cycle: R2 U+ R2i D- R2 U+ R2i U- R2 U- R D+ R2
Part 2 Center and edge reduction: • Sunminx Tutorial Part ...
Part 3 The last layer and parity: • Sunminx Tutorial Part ...

I don't blame you. No reason we should be trying to look inside the puzzle to solve it.

The turning on that Bagua at the beginning feels pretty smooth and safe, mine just keep exploding. Did you make any modifications to your puzzle? Any advice to avoid those annoying explosions would be great!

I was curious to know when you keep referencing the internal bandaging at the beginning are you more meaning that mf8 didn't give users a way to see the bandaging like they did with the Sun Cube?

Yes, and giving an outer sign of the internal structure would have been all that was needed to make this a fantastic puzzle.

Okay, I'm not sure if you'll ever really see this, but I'd like to get some help with something really weird that mine is doing. I'll do my best to describe it. If you look at the edge pieces, there's the central piece that you pushed in to look at the bandaging, then four quadrilaterals and two small triangles. If you look at it, one small triangle and one quadrilateral together look like a bigger right triangle, right? On my puzzle, that pair of pieces in two different spots is inverted. Basically, the tiny triangle is wedged into the space where the other part should go, and both are relatively upside down. How the freak do you fix this?

My guess is that making these pieces visible would clutter the puzzle too much as there would be just soooo many pieces. in order to reduce this they hid them as a (bad) tradeoff

Some of the reductive principals, but applied to a curvey copter strategy rather then a megaminx strategy.

I just solved mine for the first time before I came here, and honestly, the bandaging solve was the worst and hardest part of the solve. That said, I pretty much mostly used intuition and trial and error to get it back, although I have my own 5 cycle that I employed on the bars. The worst part of the entire solve for me was the lockups, as sometimes they were so bad that I lost my place mid algorithm. This happened 3 times after unbandaging and solving the small suns on each face! 😡 I started to get so mad at MF8 that I started swearing at the puzzle and even contemplated pitching it, which I've never done to one of my puzzles! All of that said, finally solving it was an extremely rewarding experience, but it is just so much work and so tedious that I may never do it again! Who am I kidding? I probably will! 😅

That's the thing about puzzles like this. They feed into the part of our brain that can't stop thinking about a problem until it is solved. A lot of twisty puzzle collectors/solvers have this impulse, for better or worse. The desire to see a problem through until we get the satisfaction of reaching a solve. There is the deepest satisfaction in that. And because the dilemma of a scrambled puzzle is never an earth shattering problem to begin with, we get to experience the triumph without any true risk. Keep it up and enjoy!

I think I will wait for the Bagua Dodecahedron... How stupid it is to hide bandaging pieces ! I was about to buy the Sun Cube but, fortunately, one friend of mine warned me about this. I saved my money...

I don't blame you. But it really is a well turning well made puzzle. If they sell a version where the stickers can show the internal structure, I would definitely advocate for that.

I was thinking of buying one when I saw it but when I realized that it cannot work without the outer edge piece, it has to be internal and thus cause bandaging, thus a big no for me. Will wait for the bagua style that will show the outer edge..a bagua-minx maybe?

  • @SuperAntoniovivaldi

I agree. Although the Bagua style with stickered inner pieces will be a harder puzzle with more megaminx parities.

that is......an unfortunate decision that, in my opinion, is going to cost them-I mean, just look through the comments, and you can see there's plenty of people saying they would have bought one, but won't now, because of that stupid internal bandaging

I think you're right. Of course it's never my intention to take away the business from an otherwise well made puzzle, but I feel you should know what you're getting into, and it was poorly planned. It's really one sticker mod away from being very entertaining, and I think that would make this puzzle well worth it.

Atleast the latch cube showed what was internally bandaged. Maybe this puzzle could have learned from it.

When I got the sun cube from the mf8 store I complained because I thought I got a defective puzzle. Definitely not a fan of the internal bandaging. Still no tutorials up for the professor skewb.
