Exactly...... If I going to spend the money (I already did) Im going Orion. Just got Skar to check out. If it sucks it was only like $125... I want Skar and Orion to team up. Orion Shop and you can buy Skar and pay to have them install it. I could sell it all day long. Orion costs this much but if you can do it yourself like you say you can then check out Skar...

I just got off the phone with Skar just yesturday talking about this very topic. The guy on the phone said that the founders used to be and now still are friends (got over the fallout I guess) The reason why its the same is because they both use the best materials and designs. Its like using rubber for a tire and the design being round. Its just the best overall material and design. They bnoth use the same material, design and some or most use the same manufacture.

I bought a scar zvx 15 from a guy few years back and he said it was a sundown recone but it has a sundown basket and a similar motor I just can't find any thing to compare it to. Love the thing anyway. Have it wired up to 2 ohms on 1200 watts~ Gonna wire it back down to .5 tonight it didn't make much difference for sq but definitely noticed a massive draw rate reduction. I can't justify leaving it that way. I'll just turn it down if I want to hear the music more clearly!

Do the Sundown xv2's have similar sound quality like the vfx's?

Similar, yes.

If your familiar with sq(sound quality) then u can definitely tell a huge difference between the two companies. I ran with 4 vxf 15s and they sounded good. Was happy with the price and proformance. After a year I switched to 2 sundown x v2 15s and was blown away 😳. The 2 sundown's crushed the 4 skar vxf 15 all the way around the board. Needless to say when it comes to subs I'm sundown 4 life now.💯🤟

I think it can be matched, and can exceed a bit, but no 2 subwoofers are crushing 4 subwoofers of same cone area when 4 are not jokes, and vxf are inferior to sundown xv2 by quite a bit, but not to an extent this guy is portraying.... He is exaggerating his experience and that we don't know about their cabinets being used, nor do we know if he is even telling the truth at all !

I love skar I’m running 2 Evl 12 with a deaf bonce atom 5.5k inside the trunk of a Lexus gs300. People compliment me all day long

I’ve been told the skar vxf is a budget sql woofer that bangs and sounds good at the same time? How much of that is true ? Does it have quiet mechanical movement ect ? With the vxf in mind what sundown woofer is comparable to the vxf, and if not better than it ?

The older xv2 is probably similar to the vxf but sundown is just a step above. The vxf is my favorite skar sub though

kevin of skar use to be a dealer for sundown. he then decided to make a house brand and asked jacob to oem a sub which is the ddx. thats why the ddx and sa was so similar then

Yeah Kevin of skar did try and copy the sa and Jacob was not happy when he found out.

Kevin was never a Sundown employee. His 1800 Woofers company shared warehouse space with Jacob and Jacob initially licensed designs to Kevin. Kevin then decided to steal the SA design, which Jacob discovered and promptly threw all of the SKAR stuff out of the warehouse.

i love Sundown but un my country they cost more then an arm and a leg vs Skar which would be expensive but legit one third of the price...

If i remember correctly and if info is true, Jacob actually helped design one of the skar subs. I believe it was the ddx, but i could be wrong.

I’ve owned two sets of star vxfs and I’ll say that it isn’t just the name, I feel like that’s why they hide some of the sub stats. They are so good that they don’t give secrets

@@samdudevery7695 look at sundown zv5 they just copy sundown the maker of skar was a sundown employee uses there parts and sells them cheaper n takes competition some models are there own but all the good ones are sundown knockoffs only thing not the same is dust cap spacer and coil which I think are just the older sundown coils

I guess you'd never consider running soundqubed hdx3 for 270$ for basically an x series sub. Or get the hdx4 for the price of an x series with 500 extra rms. May have brought over some tips but through my own research i can tell hes not copying well if hes trying to. Especially now.

Rms means nothing, I would say for sundown add 50% to their rms ratings. There show van had a scv 7500 on each zv5 woofer

I have a single Skar ZVX 15 D2 and I love it. Its definitely impressive. I am debating a second ZVX 15

Skar definitely tried to rip off the entire look! But the quality isn't there. Skar only uses parts from Sundown original stuff and has them crafted in the same factories. If you liked a lot of Sundown's stuff from 10 years ago, that's what Skar's equipment is. Sundown continues to innovate and try to make things better! Often designing their own alternations to aid in improving their lineup! Skar isn't horrible though... Businesses always mimic business! Sundown should take it as a compliment that a man could become their rival with their own shit and make millions doing it!

Was a Skar fan until the I bought a U10d2 and holy shit! Blown away

I use to have Sundown x15v2 subs , sold that setup and few years ago and now I have the zvxv2 15s and they are a lil louder ,they don't play as low but I play down to 25 with no issues and they are Taking a Crescendo bassclef 8k with no problem at 1 ohm. I will say Sundown makes great subs no doubt but I'm louder now then I was on the X subs and the X got stinky a lot on the 8k and the zvx quit stinking after about 2 weeks of beating the shit out them. I never got the X subs to not stunk and get hot as shit playing them. Both boxes are built to sub specs and both box where tuned to 32 hertz. Sundown could sale more subs if they didn't cost a shit ton when you can get other subs that are just as good for a fraction of the price. I use to be that Sundown nutt hugger but not any more.

@@BenaresDarkness I've only been doing this shit for over 25 years. Pretty sure I didn't do anything wrong install wise,, It could have just been from the music. I have a USB drive I listen to my zvx with so I know what hertz I'm playing didn't have that with the X subs and I played a lot of low tuned songs no telling what hertz some of them where could have been the problem. Who knows I like these zvx though beat hard af

I have a zvx v2 15 in my van and my friend has a sundown u 15 and I'm way louder I love sundown but I must say skar is pretty much the same for cheaper

i have the 13.5 w7 and x12 rev1. the jl can be in a small box and bump, the x12 doesnt sound good in a small box. when you put them in a spec or bigger box the jl has more excursion but the x12 is louder. jl uses copper voice coils which is good for sq but its heavy which is not good for spl and handling high wattage, 1500w is their max. x12 uses cca voice coils which is great handling high amount of wattage its also lighter than copper so it has better spl, the sq to my ears is the same as the w7. jl uses odd ohm loads, the w7 from 8-12 inch uses a single 3ohm voice coil and the 13.5 is a dual 1.5ohm voice coil. sundown is the typical dual 2 or 4 ohms. one thing i found strange is the baskets, the w7 feels cheap. it looks very thin and fragile compare to how beefy the sundown basket looked

Skar has good (very good) budget subwoofers. They just fucked up their reputation. And another problem with skar is the customer support. The subs are nice.

All sundown subs do more than rated easily in my opinion and experience

I would go sundown if I was trying to build for competition but if ur jus trying to show off ur ride and system Skar is a better buy for the price. I can buy 4 15 zvx which can push 10000 watts (2500x4) for $1400( subs only) but 1 sundown zv6s is $1100 I'm not rich so I look at this I can buy 4 Skar zvx 15 that can push 10000 watts or buy 1 sundown zv6 that I can't afford to push cuz the amp are hella expensive. Like I said if u want a system for competition go sundown but if it just trying to have hometown bragging then Skar won't let u down.

Sundown is def better.

All of them are getting made in China with a few different specs. He wouldn’t be going with sundown if they didn’t give him a free sub. It’s funny, he bought skates but going with sundown now. Family owned has nothing to do with customer service. The subs are basically identical. The teacher can be beat. They get old and cocky. You think sundown is better but you paid for skar subs and got a free sundown that you haven’t even played. 🤔

I didn't buy sundown because of price tag. But after having the Sundown for about 6 months I won't go back to skar

There still just copying sundown I hate skar because of that and got myself two x18 v3’s and my whole car flexes scored a 147.22 with my roof flexing 2.5 inches up and down also rip to my rear view mirror it fell off giving a demo
