Sun Yat-Sen Kidnapped in London

Retrace the footsteps of Sun Yat-Sen's 1896 visit to London, during which time he was kidnapped by agents of the Qing government operating overseas. We will visit the apartment where he stayed, the houses where his friends lived, and the building within which he was imprisoned for 12 days. Details about the relationships he built in London will be revealed, and historical photographs and objects will be examined to uncover the truth behind his fateful visit.
Sources:
The account of Sun Yat-Sen's kidnapping used in this documentary was primarily sourced from his own book on the incident published in 1897, titled 'Kidnapped in London: Being the Story of My Capture By, Detention at and Release From the Chinese Legation, London'. This was supplemented by the account in the 1912 book by James Cantlie and C. Sheridan Jones, titled 'Sun Yat Sen and the awakening of China', and also by contemporary news articles on the kidnapping.

Thanks for the positive feedback! This episode of Sun Yat-Sen's life is often overlooked, but was actually a pivotal moment not only in his life, but also for the fate of China itself.

I was slightly put off by the unnaturally staccato delivery of the narration, but otherwise this is a very informative video. Great work!

Thanks, and fair comment on the pronunciation! This was intended to help non-native english speakers understand, but it was clearly overdone.

There's a garden dedicated to him in Vancouver. Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden. The garden is designed in the Ming style, the first one of its kind outside of China. Check it out when you're there!

Love your videos but I find it very difficult to hear you keep calling Qing Dynasty as “Ting” Dynasty. Please correct your pronunciation of this dynasty. China never had a “Ting” Dynasty. Otherwise, love your content. 😊
