first, he is a distance swimmer, not a sprinter or IM swimmer, so start and turn are not the most important factor to dominate these distances, but endurance, stable stroke timing. second, he dont need to focus excessively on start and deep turn or taking many butterfly kicks off each wall because he himself swims pretty fast on water surface

Well, if his turns are so bad, he must be pretty darn quick getting from one end of the pool to the other!

@globalswim, I've been wondering about that too. Like he just doesn't know how to dolphin kick. But I think there must be a reason why he breathes so much. It's probably to limit oxygen debt to maximize his power during the actual swim phase. It's a distance swimmer mentality that he might need to get rid of to do well in the 200s and 400s. His starts are really poor as well. But he's only 19 haha. give him a break.

If he did 1.44.99 with such horrible turns and horrible start, im sure at the moment he will improve it he'll beat all the WR from 200~1500.

@globalswim Yes we'll do. And honestly, I don't even support Biedermann that much, I prefer Phelps ^^

Didn't look bad. Though I don't understand the double breath after the turn. I wonder if he actually inhales on both sides, or if he is just looking at the other racers, or what.

that makes no sense. he's a horrible swimmer even though he's the fastest over a range of distances (400~1500). i agree that he def needs to work on all that shit you mentioned, but calling him a horrible swimmer is just idiotic. he's an incredible swimmer
