This song is pretty underrated on the album IMO, I know some fans don't like the new Half Alive sound but I love it and Summerland is one of those songs that I just can't help but love every time it comes on

This is wild. I was listening to their songs like 10 mins ago and checked your channel if you’d posted anything about the new album but you hadn’t yet. 🤯

Lol, you almost predicted it perfectly.
As someone who has struggled with SAD the last couple of years, this song hit deep. I remember listening to this song on repeat as fall approached last year. It made me think of the beginning of 2021 when I was depressed for many reasons, but then March 1st came along and the sun was shining and it was 70 degrees outside and suddenly I had hope for the future even though my circumstances hadn’t changed yet. It’s so crazy how much of a difference the sun and the warmth makes.

You're so right. A beautiful spring/pre-summer day can just really change how you feel. It's a constant reminder that life is a cycle.
I’ve been a fan since 2018. Good job, man.
YAY! I always love when you go over any half alive's songs.
half-alive has always been amazing. And this new album is more greatness! Glad you broke down this song
Dude!! Appreciate this dope breakdown! The message of this song is so impactful and the way you broke it down makes it all the more enjoyable to listen to! Can’t wait to listen to this when may does come around! Keep working hard Clifford!

Im glad to see im not the only one to geek out on these things & lyrics
"Whatever ain't golden now will only come back around" could also be a reference to the poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay" by Robert Frost.
Great to have you back! Love the new setup and your analysis!
Love love love this song, and loved your breakdown… great to see you back
YESSS WAITED FOR THIS
have been enjoying this song a lot recently and this just added a whole new level to my appreciation, thanks for sharing! Would love to hear your thoughts on their song Everything Machine.

I love to hear your breakdown of how these songs are intended to be understood. It is so easy to dismiss critically thought out lyrics, for a catchy tune.
Good to have you back!

Really great video! I like this new editing style. I'm so excited for more half alive lyrics explained! Also you should definitely do "Back around" at some point. I think it's very connected to "Summerland". Cheers!

HILarious! AJR has a few good songs, but there's so much sentimentality in there that it's caked on. Makes it hard to get to real depth.

I live in Summerland Florida Keys. There are alot of pagans here and people who practice Wicca. Not Cool! I really enjoyed your video . It made sense to me.
It's also touching on seasonal depression, i think.
I love the melodies of the new album so much but does anyone else feel like every song is too noisy? "Now, Not Yet" had such a clean, crisp sound. Give Me Your Shoulders sort of exhausts my ears 🙃

or at least Everything Machine, Move Me and Back Around. definitely the deepest ones.
I wasn't the biggest fan of this song because to me the music sounds pretty generic, and the lyrics just sounded like boring lovey dovey stuff that every mainstream artist sings about. But it's really cool to see how much there is under the surface of the song, and I love the whole seasons metaphor! Although Northrop Frye was clearly trippin cuz fall is obviously the best season
@ThePopSongProfessor
2 жыл бұрын
Haha! Glad you like fall. I really don't mind it either. In some places it's the best. Here in Vegas, I think spring is probably best, but in Virginia in the mountains, definitely loved fall the best.

@@ThePopSongProfessor the whole album has a theme of seasons, almost in every song. "TIME 2" includes the same theme, hope to see more in Pt.2
