That's good to hear! I read The Tainted Cup last month - need to film my wrap up soon. I enjoyed it but think I let the hype get to me a bit with that one 😅

Hi Ellie. Robin Hobb on my tbr for 2025 once I've finished wheel of time. On book 6 Lord of Chaos currently. Just finished The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon and moving on with The Mime Order. Loved The Priory of the Orange Tree last year. Best Regards Chris

Lure by Tim McGregor is a horror novella with a mermaid, as well as Into the Drowning Deep and Rolling in the Deep by Mira Grant. From Below is good but no mermaids. If you like literary fiction with darker elements, I highly recommend Bear Season by Gemma Fairclough.

Doh! I don't know why I thought it had mermaids in it haha. I might just sneak it into my mermaid vlog anyway because I can't resist including a horror on my TBR 😄

I read Red Seas/Red Skies last summer and the one thing I will say is - keep in mind Scott Lynch plays the long game; the set up is half the book but it does not disappoint. I think I have recovered enough from my book hangover to pick up the next one this summer.

Hello, thanks for the advise. I did find his pacing a little off in the first book, just because of the sheer amount of detail and world building he includes in it. But I do think it pays off in the end because it's so immersive. I definitely think you have to be in the right mood for his books though!

Hey Ellie, I hope you're well? You're in for a treat with Skye Alexander, I've read some of her witchcraft books and she has a very informative writing style that's quite warm and has a little bit of humour too. I find her books very interesting, I think you'll enjoy her work. You're going to love Darcy Coates, she is amazing. If you want atmosphere she's the author for you. I hope you enjoy your summer tbr 🙂
