SUMMER SILVER WITH PHIL X!! 1955 Gretsch 6129 Silver Jet 01134

www.frettedamericana.com/grets...
This featherweight 13 1/4-inch-wide guitar weighs just 6.60 lbs. and has a nice, fat nut width of over 1 11/16 inches and a scale length of 24 1/2 inches. Chambered mahogany body, pressed arched top with silver sparkle plastic laminate, one-piece mahogany neck with a wonderful fat profile. Bound Brazilian rosewood fretboard with 22 medium-thin frets and inlaid pearloid block position markers. Two single-coil DeArmond Dynasonic pickups with outputs of 3.44k and 3.39k. Black Melita Synchro-Sonic bridge with chrome saddles on ebony base and chrome cut-out "G-hole flat" tailpiece. This is one of the earliest Silver Jets, with the serial number "15064" printed on a label inside the control cavity with the model number "6129." The serial number is also engraved on the outside of the control cavity cover. The plastic 'rings' (between the pickups and the body) have been replaced due to the quite common 'disintegration' of the original tortoiseshell material. Apart from a few very minor surface marks on the back and edges and a small area of discoloration on the silver sparkle top just by the bass-side of the neck pickup, this is an exceptionally clean and totally original example. The neck has been re-fretted (with the original gauge fret-wire) so expertly that it is almost impossible to tell. A superb example of a beautiful piece of guitar history. Housed in the original two-tone gray hardshell case with maroon plush lining (9.00).

These demos are such a killer public service for vintage guitar nerds
Phil X is awesome. He's really a joy to watch.
Billy Zoom made classic recordings with this type of guitar.
Love your energy, Phil.
Phil X Rocks!!!! Love his sense of humor...
Way cool! I've got a Melita bridge on my Jet and I love it. Very stable.
great sound phil-similar gibson les paul vintage -bellissimo suono e bravo..tra i migliori che abbia mai sentito suonare rock su you tube-my compliments for the video phil, thanks
Best Man for Guitar reviews !!! ;-)
DAMN I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT THIS GUITAR THEN I SAW THIS VIDEO WITH THIS GUY REVIEWING IT, NOW HE MAKES ME WANT THIS GUITAR AGAIN!!!! YOU RAWK MAN!!!
3:35 - OMG Haven't heard that song in AGES!!! Lovin' It.
same here! I have just a straight up stock tele, if I dial in the right settings and throw in a good distortion or OD I can get that really nice bass-y chug while still getting that nice bite on the top endbecause of the single coils
Loved the "unless you face mecca"
Dude, you are awesome!
You, Mr Phil are a badass........
Love it!
U make me feel good. Jesus bless you.
GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!
Sparkly (:
I'd be spinning that pickup selector around, that would do my head in!
he act kinda like jack black :D awesome demo ;)
"if you face mecca !!!!" - genius
Dammit, Phil! EVERY TIME you play that riff at 3:05 I think you're gonna play Clash City Rockers but you never do!
sick version of 'Higher Ground'!!!!!!
sweet spot if you face mecca phil is awesome
Epic end
Phil X is da man !
"You can get the sweet spot when you face.. Meca!"
...if you face Meca...Love it!
"the land of the ice and snow, with the midnight Sun, where the hotsprings blow"
I love America!
I'm buying his pickups, because they are worth buying.
love to see im not the only one that does that when they play higher ground by the chili peppers XD
The flat five is called the tritone, and it was used a lot in impressionism music, and it's probably most popular from the musical West Side Story, where Bernstein bases pretty much the entire musical off of the tritone (think Maria.) :) you asked, I guess!

He was talking of Led Zeppelin's plagiarism.
@Jeromealphonsuslee I do see it, and the photos on the website shows it too.
@flowerdrop1 He does, but it's nothing to be ashamed of, the strings feel better and it is used that way by thousands of great guitarists.
That's an awesome guitar. I like trying to play metal on guitars that don't look like metal guitars. totally serious. No sarcasm intended. I would totally like to try it on this guitar. Like the Yamaha SB doesn't look like a metal guitar, but you can get a really heavy sound from it.
Hey Phil!!!! can u play some ZZ-Top? that would be COOL
Phil, we love ya but boy, you aint right! Lol!😆
Hey, can you make a review of a duo jet dcm?
everyone see that white firebird in the back left? how was that finished and where could i find that color? was it originally white and faded to cream?
Would love to hear Phil do "I Can See For Miles" by the Who. No guitar smashing allowed though! o_o
Its a long way to mekka if you wanna rockn roll
I always wondered where you had to face to hit the "sweet spot" of no humming....
Awesome vid guys! If those dearmonds are reading that low though, theres probably something wrong with them? Those old dearmonds have been known to read up to 15kish! Still, cool sounding gittar!
What is the music of the ending? the "credits" part..
@flowerdrop1 yes
yo everyone see the creamy looking firebird in the back left?? how is that finished, and where could i find that color? was it originally white and faded to that creamy look?
LOL! this vid made my day. love the jedi moves. hahahaha
Have you seen that shit Social Distorion does where one guitar's regular and the other one's got a capo on the 2nd fret? I'm trying to figure out why that sounds so heavy. I tried it playing "Dear Lover". It sounds pretty heavy still with the capo on.
Billy Zoom!
what is that stain between the neck and pickup switch?
1955 Teoman Signature Gitarı Grestch Silver Jet 6129
Phill your Sammy Hagar turned up to 12!
@Jeromealphonsuslee no I see it too:)
where did those yellow/gold spots come from?
mecca for guitarists? would that be fullerton, CA or kalamazoo, MI?
hmmm yeh mines a les paul though so it has humbuckers. Also, i have an epiphone sg which doesn't have this problem even though it's played in the same room through the same amp. ;/
You get a certain amount of buzz from any real single-coil equipped guitar through any amp (degrees will also vary depending on a number of factors), but when it gets to the point of whistling like that it can be more annoying. A friend of mine has a 70's Les Paul copy (one of those "lawsuit" ones) and even though it has humbuckers it whistles (bad feedback) when near a loud amp - I think it's due to unppoted pickups.
@FiestyMclovin True, I'll retract my statement since I've started getting more into progressive metal.
2:34 sounds like She Sells Sanctuary
I was your job man....and your skills
Love : from 6:18 to the end !! xD
Is it tuned down a half-step? Sounds like it might be.
Any one else see that yellow patch around the neck pickup? Or issit just me?
How are you going to demo a Silver Sparkle 6129 and bust out some Billy Zoom riffs??
I think your Les Paul's pickups are not as wax-potted as the SG's. Another possibility would be something wrong with the electronics or bad soldering.
What's the name of the song in the beginning???
@superstriker00 I'm really not being a troll, I was just wondering what you meant by what you said.
what song is 3:30 i heard it a lot of times but i dont know the name :S
Oh man. How freaking much?!?!?
@superstriker00 why would anyone be ashamed of tuning down?
@permian11 Slipknot downtunes and they have very few songs with imaginitive guitar-work. Paul Gilbert doesn't and he's great. In example, downtuning seems to just get people stuck in the open note loop.
Phil X should start endorsing coffee.
yu should do a Manson guitar
is that guitar shielded?
you should play guitar for the rhcp's! you'd be way better than the guy they have now.
watch Marco Di Maggio to see a great player get it on with a gretsch - phil manages to make all guitars sound distorted... same sound
whenever phil takes his hands off the strings, there's a buzzing sound from the amp. I'm currently suffering this at home with my new les paul. Everytime i google this issue (amp buzzes unless i touch the strings) everyone says its a grounding issue, but yet Phil seems to have this in many videos... BASICALLY, is this a genuine problem or is it just an undeniable guitar-thing?

David R. He tells us every single time, it’s from the single coil pick ups; that’s why they call the other pickups humbucker pickups.
pretty sure higher ground was done on a 55 black beauty... i know thats how they did it at pink pop in 89

nigeri mcgangatsa are you serious? I guess you don’t realize the Chili Peppers didn’t originally do this song?
@superstriker00 I'm not getting what you're getting at. Last time I checked "nothing to be ashamed of" only had one meaning.. Oh well
Whatever Phil plays, he sells - that crazy man... Fingernail polish - so THAT is how he does it...! EDIT: if it has sound chambers, can it REALLY be called a "solid body"? Just saying....
thats just your opinion.
The "Get Smart" theme... and "Bali Hai" from "South Pacific". Flatted fifth. Whatever.
Ha "if you face Mecca"
@GuitarsGalore557 not anymore. hahahaha btw... sorry for what??? i'm a guitar player.
JACK WHITE? O.O
@LWRCftw grestches today are still good .. but the company started to branch out and make cheaper guitars so that they would sell more .. so they are still making AWSOME guitars such as country gentlemen , wight falcon but these guitars will cost you!
@ryanpch20 Immigrant song.
If ya face Mecca hahaha
Why do u have nail polish?
you sing like jack black
you can kinda find the sweet spot if you face meca ... bahaha.
You say its not the kinda guitar for the who but townshend used a gretsch chet atkins for most of the whos classic stuff from the 70s...whos next and quadrophenia especially....

And he actually played a Duo Jet for the first few months of the Quadrophenia tour. Different pickups though.

@permian11 Figure of speech?
Could be the wiring of your house, try a socket in your kitchen if you can (grounding is different there most of the time), could be a ground problem in other parts of your house and not your guitar.
