And playing what Yu-Peng Chen comes up with is no easy job, look at the mini marimba dude killing it at 3:43, it's highly complex music In Rage Beneath the Mountains orchestra video you can see the bass player doing an INSANE riff at one point I remember seeing on the Inazuma OST behind the scenes, I remember at least the Shakuhachi, Drums and Shamisen players saying that the songs were very challenging to perform

The way Mihoyo fails or take worrisome decisions toward their main game makes me question them heavily, but I totally agree at how amazing their OSTs are, each of their games have a rich musical uniqueness that I highly appreciate, each time I watch their orchestral sessions a heavy knot forms in my throat and my eyes get teary. Imagine bringing the Red Army Orchestra for Snezhnaya.
No wonder the musicians in this were so impressed with the music they were playing. At the time of this release the thought of leaving mihoyo probably already taken deep roots in Yu-Peng Chen's mind. Make Sumeru his final memorable masterpiece for Genshin and go out with a bang was his plan all along in retrospect
One day I was in my room listening to this, my father came in, sat next to me and started listening to this orchestra with me, he was fascinated listening to the sounds, he was really impressed that such good music was made just for a video game. It was nice to share such a simple moment just chatting about the instruments and the melody they emitted together. 😀

A shamshir (Persian: شمشیر) is a type of Persian/Iranian sword with a radical curve. The name is derived from the shamshīr, which means "sword" in the Persian language. Right as Swirls of Shamshir starts we hear the instruments Sitar and Oud playing in an orderly fashion, like a duet, both complementing each other. This is really neat because what exactly is a swordplay? It is a duet. A dance between two swords as neither can perform without the other. I'm 100% sure it's gonna be a combat/battle music.

Sumeru music makes me cry because of how awesome it is. Moreso than the other nations the composition tells of the emotions and adventures we face in this region.

Im honestly crying at how amazing this is, nothing can compare to this piece
Still felling like this 3.0 stream was just yesterday. Literally can't get enough of Sumeru, the best region so far
5:49 - it's still spectacular how the composer keeps Traveler's motif in battle songs, adapting it to each region. It feels fresh but you can still recognise that track is from Genshin

that’s the traveler’s motif? thought it was some kind of combat motif, idk…? when was this established as the traveler’s motif? and where else is it used? i’m curious :o

True! I also noticed that when I first listened to it. I guess moving forward in other regions, the battle themes should also have the Traveler's battle song motif in them but adapted to the specific region's style

@@tamaraluiz6203 I wouldn't really call it the "traveler's motif". But every region's battle theme has one piece revolving that motif. Personally, I'd consider it the battle motif, if anything.

I wouldn't rlly call it the Traveler's motif. It more so represents Genshin/Teyvat as a whole rather than a single character. I mean, it plays in almost every character demo. Character motifs are more exclusive. (i.e you'll never hear Signora's theme where she's not directly involved)

Sumeru region is based on Indian and middle eastern(arabic/persian/Egyptian) moslty on this 4 culture but also may have some other middle east countries culture mixed in Turkish/Armenian The forest Indian/Persian mainly The desert Arabic/Egyptian/other middle east cultures mainly Other instruments 2:45 Mandolin 2:50 on the far left Classical Guitar 5:01 Godin A8 Electric Mandolin 9:02 Bouzouki (greece) So the traditional instrument u see are from this culture 2:54 oud (Arab) 2:59 Ney(Egyptian) 5:46 sitar (Indian) 3:44 santur(Persian) 3:54 Duduk(Armenian) 4:16 the lady with white dress holding Tanpura(Indian) 6:02 Baglama (Saz) Turkish but popular all over middle east Percussion: 3:29 From top to (left to right)percussion Riq(Arab),Caxixi(African),Daff(Persian) 3:29 bottom to ( left to right) Darbuka(Egyptian),lady using Naqareh(middle east) 6:46 the percussion laying on ground behind the lady is Tabl Baladi(Egyptian) Every instrument here except Indian one are used/shared all over middle east music And there are even more traditional instrument in other sumeru songs 😊 Hope this helps
You can tell the musicians are having fun because of how good this actually is. Hoyoverse composers are out of this world. Edit: my favorite song in the game is Celestium Finali Termini, the Stormterror boss fight, but they pulled all the stops for the Sumeru OST. Simply brilliant.
Seeing this orchestra is that little reminder I needed to remember Genshin is more than daily coms and the infinite madness of artifacts domains farming, there is no game like Genshin currently and I'm thankful to be able to hear something like this. I owe nothing but respect to this music and it just doesn't deserve me or others complaining about the game specifically here when I and others can easily do it somewhere else. Thanks!

So true, over time we tend to forget the beauties of the limitless open world which contains a hundred different biomes, the lovely background music that suites each region, the very well designed enemies with very small details, and the anime-like cutscenes, which is all for free.

Exactly! Every orchestra that I've seen in these videos so far always seemed to have a lot of fun playing these frankly amazing Soundtracks, which makes me believe that everyone involved is truly passionate about creating this game. And that just makes me love Genshin Impact, and miHoYo's work in general, so much.

Even if the music (and the game in general) is great, it does not mean that you should not complain when there are some things that can be improved.
