No matter how good you are this piece is really hard to pull off. You did well, sir.

Mark Knopfler. Very different sound, but it was classic. (while it lasted). He is one of those guys who you always knew who it was playing. Like Brian May and Eddie Van Halen, Mark's guitar was unique. IMHO. As was the way he played it. Nice rendition. The sound was spot on! Creole, baby!

I thought your technique was pretty solid before this video, but you're on all kinds of levels. Your fingerpicking is very natural and smooth. Tone is spot on as usual, but I'd love to hear how you sound with a proper monster stadium rig.

It's funny. When this song first hit the airwaves, I didn't really care for it. As I heard it played over the years, I developed an appreciation for Knopfler's guitar style. Now I never switch past it when it comes on the radio.

I almost didn't click this..was like no way he can do this.....But I checked it out ...closed my eye's and I swear its like its off the album.....

Now THATS IMPRESSIVE!!!! If most only knew just how hard it is to copy Knopflers style and tone!!! That fingerstyle is the key...but sounds like you have the jangly clean tone down pretty well too!!! ... Awesome job!!.. And thanks for sharing...I learned from you on this one!!! Wow that lead.. It really took me back to '79 hearing it for the 1st time... 18 yrs old, fresh Navy boot, tagging along with friends up in the hills around San Diego CA. in a packed car that was smoking like a ride along with Cheech and Chong... Hahaha.. Great memories, thanks TruthSurge!

You're a really good guitar player. There are so many great players out there,. like yourself. I'm a terrible guitar player. I don't call myself a guitar player . The only thing my efforts succeeded in, was ruling out the fact that if I had a certain guitar , I would become a good player someday. I bought a lot of expensive, beautiful guitars,. and guess what ? It ain't the guitars. I'm not good at anything,. not just guitar playing, but what impresses me most about you , and guys like you, is that you can turn on the camera, and play without making a single mistake. That is a fairly long song , with a lot of room for a mistake to happen,. a blunted string, a missed note, a lapse in concentration, your finger getting stuck in the string etc., but you didn't screw anything up. Like I said, I'm not good at anything, and even the simplest things that I can usually do ok, will take me a half a dozen tries to get through it , as soon as I turn on a camera, or recorder. That is what separates the pros from the hacks. I have a lot of respect for your talent.

Well, I appreciate the nice words but there are many vids where I DO screw up. this one was pretty darn clean, tho. hehehe But some vids I do screw up and in fact, many vids. Now, the thing is, if I WANTED to make it tight w/o mistakes, I can, but that was not my goal back then from 2010 on. I was just having fun. But I had a lot of experience playing from 1974 onward. 1977 I began electric. So, I do pretty good for playing off and on. Yes, there are many ways to flub a song as you listed. Forgetting a part..... I've done it. Flub a note physically, I've done it. Get a finger caught under a string. Been there, done that. Have a finger slip off a string. Did that too. But mistakes are in many vids of mine if you were to watch/listen closely. Maybe not horrible ones okay but still mistakes. Guys like Eric Johnson... he makes mistakes all the time but it's just a quick note out of the key and he just keeps moving. But since he's improvising a lot, I don't hold that against him. Hard to make it up and not mess up. Easier to play it all rehearsed and not mess up like this song here is. ty!!!!

I just put me on the right to try and get some separation from Knopfler's parts which were in the middle. Plus my timing, sound, mistakes, that helps separate us too. HEHHEHE
