just started tying flys this year. I love your videos! you are a great instructor! I've found there are a lot of videos on fly tying, but yours, in my opinion, are in the top echelon. Tim, thanks so much for very helpful videos. I've just started tying and haven't collected a huge amount of material yet. I'm wondering if white deer belly hair - which I have - can be used for the post and whether the very neat trick with the superglue would work on the natural material as well.

Yes it will work. Deer body hair tends to flare a lot because it is hollow. Because you will primarily be using just the tips for the wing post, it shouldn't be too bad.

@@tightlinevideo KZread is a platform with many great tying channels which I would put you in the upper tier. Always best to learn from many masters and not one! Great attribute of this platform surely is that we get to share techniques from across the globe. But I suppose in hindsight probably not the best place to say it.

Barry follows Tim's channel. He used Tim's 'automatically' trick on an emergent caddis video a month ago... Tim's got over +/- 50,000 more subscribers, so he's winning. Isn't that what it's all about anyway???

@@gregb8824 I rest my case. 😎. It was the simple act of turning the hook vertically to whip finish which I liked. It's not about competition, many of channels I follow recommend other channels. Isn't it great to share? This channel is incredible. I just thought Tims response was a bit sensitive . But I understand you'll get plenty of trolls talking tripe. That wasn't my intention to hit a nerve merely an observation but I admit probably not the place to say it.

It may be many things but it ain't a Klinkhamer. Have a look at how Hans ties his flies, it's far neater and easier.
