Not really. Arkham Knight was decent but it wasn’t the gem people remember, especially when it came to the side quests. It was pretty far from Arkham City and Asylum.

@@neurololzthis. Everyone seems to forget the massive backlash rocksteady faced when Arkham Knight launched. The red flags were planted in 2015. Everyone wants to put on rose tinted glasses and pretend the original Arkham trilogy was flawless. the reality is that rocksteady faced many criticisms with Arkhm Knights launch. Everyone was disappointed how much Batmobile gameplay there was, everyone was disappointed how bad the boss fights were after coming off City and Origins, everyone hated the predictable twist, and the game launched with a $60 season pass that everyone heavily criticized, saying it was the same price as the base game. Rocksteady promised everyone it would be worth the price. And how did this turn? We got a 10 minute red hood dlc, a 10 minute Harley Quinn dlc, a 90 minute batgirl campaign and a 20 minute mister freeze side mission.

WB has no reason to command a studio that had a flawless record, a trilogy that set a standard, and created a huge demand for more batman. If rocksteady wanted to make another Batman game? WB would’ve, but the original directors for rocksteady ended it, and pitched this game, then they dipped because they most definitely don’t want to make more DC games.

Let this be a warning to ALL devs and publishers. If you have an IP that's beloved by fans, milking it with using games of service style, looter shooter setups is a BAD idea. If it feels like a stretch for the IP, it probably is. Avengers, Suicide Squad, Gotham Knights all games that should have been incredible. All disappointments. Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man, the original Arkham Series. That's how ya do it.

I'm not gonna argue fictional power levels but having batman overcome a physical/ biological affliction in the previous narrative only to then succumb to the exact same thing and not overcome it seems at odds to the overall narrative. The Joker taking over at the end of Knight was foreshadowed as an unstoppable calamity yet this game tells us he could have been stopped by some goons. The Suicide squad used fear toxin to defeat him yet that same thing didn't help Scarecrow? The narratives run completely counter to each other.

Rocksteady sold their soul and chose quantity over quality. These companies that inject looter/gear mechanics into games that shouldn't have them don't understand, it doesn't matter if you intend to keep putting out content if all the content is half baked with zero creativity, no one will want to play it months down the line

1:15 I’ll say one thing in defence of Avengers. Regardless of how boring the combat was, at least they gave a sense of identity and originality for each character in both combat and traversal rather than just giving them guns and telling them to go mad.

"... characters all reduced to the same blueprint" This is where Avengers at least got it right, and this game's biggest turn-off for me.

Whoever at WB had the idea to make a combination of the Avengers game and Crackdown 3 and then have it star a bunch of D-list characters should be fired.

Nice callout to Control for the shield harvesting mechanic that pre-dates even Doom's implementation and encourages offense being the best defense and forcing engagements. Great game knowledge.

Rocksteady should stay away from some IPs, period. The actual team that created the arkham series left and made a new studio. Those guys should be the ones that handle IPs like that.

@PeanutButterAndJellyBros Hundred Star games or studios, I'm pretty sure, but not entirely. Also, just so you know, Sweet Baby Inc. was involved in some of the games writing (most likely the death scenes and who dies in what way) so the current Rocksteady team and WB don't exclusively share blame

@@PeanutButterAndJellyBrosthis is sort of true. This game has been in development since 2017 the founders left a little over a year ago. This game was made by the original team. They started Hundred Star Games. Also the internet somehow turned the founders leaving to the entire studio but its legit like 2 people.

And they have the audacity to charge $99 for a deluxe edition.

Deserves lower than that, but a 5 is better than a 6.

Seems too artificial for me. Corporate execs can't see that the fan base is not a mindless toddler yammering superman over and over again.

It's amazing that after the failure of what was Gotham knights, WB Games tried this again .

Gotham Knights was made by WB Games Montreal not Rocksteady and is a far better game than this pile of crap.

Who wanted this game? This game’s fate was obvious a year ago: failure.

I'm going to play this in a few months either on sale or free. If it's still online forget it.

More like Suicide Devs: Kill Your Own Company

If this game was it's own universe people would still be mad how this game disrespected the deaths of the justice league, but wouldn't care as much since it's own thing. But no this game had to be set in ghe Arkham verse. What a waste
