Few things: 1) Yes, the John Stewart Green Lantern is an architect as well. I forgot that marines have a civilian occupation as well. My mistake. 2) It sounds like Black Deadshot was only a thing in the comics for the few seconds they thought the 2016 movie would catch on. He was barely a blip and is long dead, so the overly convoluted turn around him here is 100% to copy the 2016 movie that nobody likes.

One other thing you could have brought up is why Brainiac doesn't just use his multiverse tech to go to a universe where Colu is still intact since his whole motive in this game is to restore his planet. It's like, dude, why bother terraforming Earth or any planet for that matter, just go to another dimension. I'm just saying, for a guy who brags about his 12th level intellect, he doesn't seem to grasp the idea of infinite universes, infinite possibilities.

It's like they're trying to damn hard to be Borderlands, yet not knowing exactly how Borderlands (mainly 2) works in terms of plot!

Wasting $70 on this game was worth it in the end because it gave me some bonding time with two good friends. Otherwise, this trash game is just worthless beyond all belief.

I'm not surprised, 99% of Live Service games released after 2018 have been designed to drain your wallet over being engaging and FUN. There was a time where Live Service games were fun... Hell, the concept of such a thing isn't new at all, it just became an industry buzzword so game companies could sell more copies. The earliest MMO games like WoW or Everquest technically fall under the Live Service umbrella!

This is basically the Ultimatum of superhero games, a story that kills off fan favorite and beloved characters not to tell an interesting story with it but out of cheap shock value. I agree, It feels more to shock fans By killing off recognisable heroes. But I think DC will backtrack that statement and revealed the Justice League was not dead Including Batman as a way to apologize to the fans There is a theory which said The Justice League members we kill were not the real ones but instead they were clones with the memories of the Justice League. The evidence of it is when captain broomer cut off the flash finger, you can see the evil flash have all his fingers.

It's unfortunate because I was a huge fan of Arkham Asylum, City and Knight. Now with this I think that Rocksteady should have thrown in the towel after the end of their trilogy. Or maybe they should have done that Batman Beyond game.

It's because if you hit that one winner you basically print money for 10 years which is unfortunate because it means they'll keep trying with this low effort junk.

Pretty spot on with how the death of the Arkham Batman didn't work, but may I add this to the equation: It has Harley Quinn say "It's our turn now" just before she kills the Arkhamverse Batman in the most anti-climatic way. I cannot help but read the subtext of that scene as either the new guard of Rocksteady killing off the icon that represents the old guard of Rocksteady in a spiteful way, regardless of how every time a franchise resorts to tearing down beloved icons to make new ones look good, it ALWAYS backfires because most people men and women alike reject such a mean-spirited approach to storytelling and kills the brand that embraces such a "thumbing its nose" approach.

I pray the skill tree concept in Suicide Squad doesn't infect Borderlands...

The first is pretty much in the tube, I'd guess that Freeze is far enough along to get made... maybe a third out of sheer denial of reality. I'd be surprised if more than 3 make it out.

You know, the thought just occurred to me. If the Arkham Trilogy was the Dark Knight Trilogy of games, then SS:KTJL is The Flash (2023) of games. One was made with passion and love for the character, even if they floundered the ending a bit, and the other was a studio mandated mess that was doomed from the start. Hears some more comparisons between the Flash and Suicide Squad: -Both were overbudgeted and overhyped as hell -Both star a psychotic Flash (one meta, one in universe) -Both used artificial means to drum up hype (paying off people, deleting Steam reviews) -Both brought back a beloved actor to reprise their iconic take on Batman, only to kill them off and their entire universe. -Both are mean-spirited with Flash's "you can't fight fate" message and SS killing off beloved heroes. -Both try to steer their respective franchises in a new direction only to nose dive and crash in the process. BTW, if Brainiac has access to the multiverse, why doesn't he just go to a universe where Colu still exists? While were on the topic, this Brainiac is such a lameass compared to his Injustice 2 counterpart. Say what you will about Injustice 2, at least Brainiac was cool in that game. Plus Supergirl too. Also, why couldn't they have written it so that the Power Ring runs out of juice after King Shark destroys Brainiac's shield, therefore justifying the Squad not using such a story breaker power like that? Could have even made a funny joke out of it. The ring powers off, and Shark just flops onto the floor since he was floating beforehand. One other thing, remember when they formally announced that the 9 month delay was to "polish" the game? Yeah, polish my ass. That Kevin Conroy eulogy glitch just cemented the fact that the delay was just a PR move by WB to wait for the fires to die down after the disastrous State of Play, only for the fires to get bigger and hotter once the game came out.

Lots of good points about the story... and WB having more than one "Flash Movie" situation should be a disaster. As for the Brainiac thing: I just kind of assumed Brainiac was just picking the single most spiteful option possivle because he's a dick; otherwise he'd have terraformed any of the millions of other planets in the universe. I just realized there is ZERO explanation for why it absolutely has to be Earth.

@@Darklordjadow1 That's the thing with Brainiac. He's supposed to be a cold, logical genius. He shouldn't have his mindset be tampered by petty things like ego or pride or emotions in general. He's too smart for any of that. The logical thing for him to have done would be terraform an unpopulated world since there would be no resistance and would require the minimal amount of effort to succeed. But no, instead we're stuck with what's basically a Saturday morning cartoon villain. Also, why couldn't they do the classic Brainiac thing of shrinking and bottling cities? That's what makes him one of the more unique alien invaders out there since he wants to preserve species he deems are on the verge of collapse. As far as I'm aware terraforming has never been his deal and is just generic like everything else in this game. What, was bottling cities not edgy enough for these writers? Though considering all the character assassination in this story, I can't say I'm too surprised.

The name and trailer instantly killed any desire for this game. 1: No one want to fight and kill the justice league.2: they should’ve done something more grounded like taking out a rogue dictator the government put in place they now want gone or stealing a weapons prototype from a hostile country, basically deniable, high risk ops they were literally made to do and weren’t expected to survive.3: No more live service/battle pass garbage.

Took one long look at this game, realised I absolutely don't want it. Bought instead Helldivers 2 which was only $40. I don't regret this decision. You too can do your part for Super Earth.

King Shark and Deadshot are the only ones suited to fight superheroes. The other two idiots, I'd replace in a heartbeat. Also, since this is supposed to be the Arkhamverse, they should've had Batman be the sole uncorrupted member of the JL work with the heroes. It makes sense, since his superpower is ninja skills, brains, and money, and Brainiac has no need of those, so just have him defeat the Justice League, capture and brainwash them, and leave Batman for dead since Brainiac already sees himself as smarter than the Bat. Pissed off by this encounter, Bruce Wayne calls Amanda Waller and asks her to assemble a team to help him take on Brainiac, and both he and Harley can serve in the same vein as Oracle, coaching the Squad on how to take down each corrupted superhero based on his knowledge of their strengths and weaknesses.

Wonder Woman's upbringing and aggressive behavior makes her easier to corrupt, whereas Wayne has trained his ass off and even fought a battle in his mind in Arkham Knight. If he was susceptible to corruption, the Joker virus or Ra's Al Ghul's temptations would've gotten to him. They didn't. And given that Batman has nothing to offer Brainiac, since Brainiac already sees himself as the smartest and would laugh at Batman's gadgets and ninja skills, it would make sense that Brainiac won't even waste time corrupting Bruce, whereas Diana is an Olympian, which makes her a more tempting target for Brainiac to corrupt. She actually has something to offer Brainiac, especially the location of Mount Olympus where he can corrupt the rest of the Olympian gods, whereas Mr. Wayne has nothing to offer him.

It's enough to REALLY make you wonder what the idea was in 2013 after Arkham Origins. Cause it wasn't this.

I believe that DC has been trying to turn the Suicide Squad into the Guardian of the Galaxy for a while. To the point where it got James Gunn to make the 2021 move an R-rated Guardians of the Galaxy, but at least they brought some new stuff to the table.

This video and Angry Joe's video managed to save my $70 bucks! I was still originally going to get this for myself to experience it, but after watching this video and angry Joe's video deeply and entirely, you guys basically saved my $70 bucks, Thank you so much DLJadow I'd rather spend it on a Scarlet Spider (across the spider-verse style) Cosplay instead!

You know, for a game titled "Kill The Justice League" it lacks the full ensemble, completely missing Cyborg, Aquaman, Shazam, etc. But we gotta cash in on yet another take on Joker, apparently...

The sad thing is that there's a decent game buried somewhere in this mess; if it had just been a single player shooter/RPG in the vein of Borderlands, it might have been alright. It wouldn't be the best thing in the world or anything, but I could see it being a passively entertaining time killer. Too bad they tried to force it into a trend-chasing mold it had no hope of fitting into.

That description of casing every trend that was popular at some point and ending as an incomprehensible blob of ideas sounds a lot like how Duke Nukem Forever turned out. You do not want to be compared to Duke Nukem Forever.

33:30 The worst part is that honestly? They had a good set-up for a death here. Imagine this, Harley goes through the spiel she spouts in this game but we see it go on for longer and have it devolve as her emotions get the better of her, especially in regards to the loss of Joker since that's something that I'd imagine seeing Batman has reopened. Then you have Batman break the mind control at that moment, his will comes through and at this moment? The humanity kicks in and rather than tell Harley she's wrong or whatever, he just says he's sorry and then... it causes Harley to snap. She pulls the gun on him, fires once, twice... too many times and has to be stopped by her teammates and we kind of see it just hit her that Bruce is gone and what she's done and she's overwhelmed with emotion. Is it maybe a little much? Sure. Possibly OOC? I can see that but it would be an infinitely better send-off than what the game provides which indeed is depressingly mean-spirited considering who the Batman we follow is and the idea that this maybe is going to be undone via revealing it's not the real Batman or revival or some contrived crap like that doesn't matter because all it will do is make this MORE contrived and will add a dose of this being pointless.

Also, as something people pointed out, Harley uses a revolver to shoot Batman when there is a SHELL CASING BOUNCE SOUND! My theory for that is that they wanted to use a Desert eagle or something similar but forgot that revolvers don’t eject casings like other pistols.

Everything I daw about this game before release gave me a bad feeling in my stomach that I knew it would be a waste of my money and time. So instead, I bought Lego Batman 3 and I plan on getting Lego DC Supervillains later on. What's funny is that Lego Batman 3 basically does the same story as SSKTJL with Brainiac invading Earth and mind controlling several Justice League heroes so you have to fight them and, get this: you actually *save* them instead of murdering them. And now we live in a world where Lego Tim Drake is able to defeat and save Batman when he's mind controlled by Brainiac while Arkham Tim Drake just gets freakin' killed by Batman instead. But overall, that game and I'm sure DC Supervillains as well are much better than this trash.

That game was pretty good. My only real complaint was that I felt the sandbox could've been bigger, as the locations when not doing levels felt kind of limited (ironic given the sandbox mainly consists of planets). Aside from that though, that game is incredible, and actually feels like a love letter to the DC Universe compared to Kill the Justice League, which just comes across looking like a cash grab in comparison.

Wasn't Harley in the Arkham games obsessed with joker though? Why would she have a thing for poison ivy if she's obsessed with the Joker?

John Stewart is an architect though. I don't know if being an army marine is a common part of his backstory, but the two occupations aren't mutually exclusive. Assult of arkham is no longer Canon. I think and what I heard and same with comics And also mirror master was never member is was just boomerang because is way to do crime and still be a member. ( and by Rick flag one does not count ) and that picture is evan not Sam Plus he already dead in comics And what i heard black deadshoot was copy Will Smith. Most people seem to think that the the badly received story-line moments, such as the universally panned death scenes of the brainwashed Justice League, and Deadshot getting a Race Lift, happened because Rocksteady had narrative consultancy agency Sweet Baby Inc write the story instead of them. Actually, Sweet Baby Inc joined development of the game after the story was written to make in-game ads, audio logs, and NPC barks,, so things like Boomerang trying to piss on Flash's corpse and Harley unceremoniously shooting Batman were conceived by Rocksteady itself and did not happen because of outsourcing. The one thing Sweet Baby might be able to be blamed for is the controversial backstory moment where Superman convinced the rest of the League to try to negotiate with Brainiac since that is told in audio logs, but whatever happens in the cut-scenes in the game isn't by them And also on arkham wiki. Thus explaining why the Justice League is soundly killed off in the base game story with some hints that they will be brought back to life at their best. And 95% is sefton Hill fault Following the game's catastrophic launch, which led to Warner Bros. taking a $200 million loss, an article was released detailing the extremely troublesome and prolonged development of the game from anonymous interviews with many Rocksteady employees. A Suicide Squad game was originally being developed (although trapped in Development Hell) by WB Games Montréal (the developers behind Batman: Arkham Origins and the later Gotham Knights (2022)), but this was scrapped by the Warner Bros. Games division president following the financial success of Suicide Squad (2016), and the project's reins handed to the more prestigious Rocksteady Studios. While rumors had spread that Rocksteady had tried to pitch games based on Superman and Batman Beyond, Rocksteady's founders and game directors Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker were burned out on superheroes and actually developing a multiplayer puzzle game in a new IP with the Working Title Stones, which was in turn scrapped to make way for the Suicide Squad project. Following the success of live-service multiplayer games at the time, like Destiny, development of the game was pivoted towards this sort of niche by Warner Bros. executives, despite the fact Rocksteady had never developed anything similar to this sort of genre before. In an attempt to accommodate this change, they hired over ninety new employees to develop the game, a number which they struggled to manage, and made more complicated due to the secretive nature of the project. Many of the new hires were displeased to learn that they were developing a game completely unlike anything in Rocksteady's resume and quit. The live-service model made development of the game into a struggle as the studio's inexperience in this genre and the immense scope of the game world left them struggling to make levels re-playable between the numerous squad members without becoming tedious, which also massively bloated the game's size. The game's development suffered heavily due to a lack of cohesive vision. Originally it started with a melee-focused combat system before abruptly swapping to being primarily a third-person shooter. Several months of development were spent on Hill's idea of giving each character customizable vehicles for traversing the open-world maps, which many staff members found redundant considering the characters already had grappling hooks for high-speed traversal. Hill was reported to have a perfectionist attitude that slowed development tremendously, as large portions of the script were repeatedly thrown out and every new idea needed to forwarded to him before further progression, and it frequently took weeks or months to get responses. Criticism of the game's growing flaws and concerns over its progress by the developers were brushed aside by management, in behaviour that interviewed staff members dubbed "toxic positivity", who believed that the game would magically click together at release despite the difficulties encountered during development. Not helping the staff's fears were contemporary live-service titles like Anthem (2019) and Marvel's Avengers becoming massive financial failures, casting doubt on the sustainability of the live-service market. And much like with Anthem's own leadership, Hill and Walker also refused to look at other live-service games either for inspiration or to take lessons from. The continuous delays over the game's release were also detrimental to the game's technical state as the developers were never sure how much more time they'd get to work on the game, as they'd try to polish up existing gameplay aspects in preparation for imminent release that would then end up getting thrown out following another delay, which in turn hurt morale as it seemed that nothing was getting done. Technical issues also mounted as quick fixes of glitches were prioritized over properly addressing the causes. As the game repeatedly slipped past its expected release dates, morale dipped lower and lower at Rocksteady, further hampered by the box office disappointment of The Suicide Squad suggesting that interest in the IP was cooling off. Bad news continued in 2022, as Hill and Walker suddenly resigned from the company during the fall, which took the staff by complete surprise. Not long after the two departed, the game was finally shown off at a PlayStation Showcase in the form of a ten-minute gameplay demo... only to be greeted by skeptical journalists and alarmed fans who saw little to be excited about. The game was hastily delayed again and eventually released in February 2024 to harsh reviews and unimpressed consumers, becoming such an immediate and massive commercial failure that the Chief Financial Officer of Warner Bros. Discovery named it as a major underperformance for their game division only three weeks after its release.

Is it just me or does King sharks gameplay in this game feels like if you play as the hulk in the 2012 hulk license game with a big boring takes forever to navigate without the subway stations open world but the only thing that's different was King shark actually works while the hulk doesn't

Not saying it would save the game, but they probably should have had 1-3 brainiacs be there to fight in the end game. It at least give a reason to do it, instead of for some MAYBE later dlc.

The only live service I ever got into was Elite Dangerous. That one may have only had a few mission types repeated ad nauseum, but you could also ignore them and explore the galaxy on your own. I put over 500 hours to date in that game & I still enjoy loading it up now and then (even though the console versions don't get updates anymore).

Man this video was great it perfectly said everything about this game and it's really sad that this is in canon with the Arkham universe and then I also seen the deathshot gameplay that was shown and I think they forgot that deathshot can also use afterburners twice to go faster making him faster for troversal and then I still can't believe that when Harley Quinn meets kid ivy in this game the side Harley Quinn show is apparently canon because the relationship between Harley Quinn and ivy in the show was so popular that Rocksteady just went with it which makes it really hard that not only you had to watch and play all Arkham games but also watch the prequel movies to Arkham origins and the Harley Quinn show and for me it just feels like busy work to do and then I do agree with Miles the voice performance was great Tara Strong and Kevin Conroy did awesome and also former WWE wrestler Samoa Joe did good as king shark I feel bad for Tara Strong that she had to deliver the lines that made fans hate the Batman death cutscene including me

I hope the words "Live Service" goes down in gaming history as the one of the most toxic corporate buzzwords you can say. Right uo there with exclusivity, Day One Patches, XP Boosters, and AAAA Gaming

I was hesitant on buying this game before release but after I saw more of the story, the gameplay and especially that one scene with Batman, I think I did myself a favour skipping out on this one.

Wow... just wow.... this was so bad..... that reaction near the end says it all when they couldn't even get Kevin's Eulogy to play correctly

Good thing with James Gunn overseeing DC is hopefully better quality across all media since the rest of 2024 onward is going to make or break the brand

Are you going to do a shutdown review for this game when it inevitably becomes abandoned like Avengers before it?

Great review, with quite a good backstory about characters I didn't even know. You did more work than Rocksteady lol. Btw hv u tried the game, Midnight Suns? If you wanna cleanse your palette with a good team superhero games, I'd highly recommend it

It's always beautiful when something so utterly shit comes along that it manages to unite the internet in hating it. That no matter your race, gender, sexuality, or political leanings, we can all agree on one thing: This game is awful and a complete insult to the Arkham series and its protagonist. I've seen this happen with Velma and Santa Inc., but never for a video game. Sure, there's plenty of bad games out there, but very few manage to shit all over a legacy as beloved as Rocksteady's.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Franchise

All this game accomplished was boost the sales for the Arkham games. Also black Deadshot started in the movies, went into the comics claiming to be the original Deadshot, got killed BY Deadhsot and then to this dumpster fire. Except in the comics his Deadshot suit was blue.

Rocksteady have always had a weird relationship with those titles because they didn't develop them and insist on calling it the "Arkham Trilogy"...and yet Knight has about a dozen references to Origins that seem to confirm it is in fact canon to that universe. Go figure.

Arkham Knight tried to accommodate Arkham Origins into the canon, but with this game seemingly insisting there's never been a Suicide Squad before now, it seems pretty clear they've been kicked out of the continuity for good. Especially since that Batman Experience museum has exactly zero references to Origins.

This was really a game whose highers-up both hated games and the DC universe, but paradoxically loved money, and you know what they say, the love of money is the root of all evil

MAN! It is sad that they put most of the work into gun stats instead of the story and gameplay! That was a HUGE mistake! They should have also used the characters of the DC universe to their advantage! I wish I could play as comic accurate Harley,Boomerang, Dead Shot and King shark!

Ya, DC has an issue when it comes to their media outside the comics, but one thing we have to admit......the DC animated movies and shows are some of the best there is.

Really slow stretch in the middle, they made the Squad a little too heroic, but still a pretty good movie.

It’s almost impressive how badly and in how many ways this game fucked up, but for me the worst part is how the squad are written. Harley? Her dialogue feels like the writers were just throwing a ton of quips at the wall and seeing what sticks and her execution of Batman while riding a high horse is just insulting. Captain Boomerang? He’s an unlikable douchebag at best, and a constant source of unfunny jokes about Australians at worst. Deadshot? He’s there. There’s nothing special about him. King Shark? What was an interesting character in other adaptations was flattened into another wannabe Drax. On top of all that, the entire plot of the game is written like an edge lord’s fanfic about how the heroes are actually the villains and I’ll be shocked if this writing team gets work in the future. I salute you for getting through this disaster, Task Force KMN.

It's almost like going to that family picnic where you know the food is going to be shit, however you don't ask anyone what they're bringing to the table so when you get there it's a full on surprise to see what absolute diarrhea garbage it is. Lmao! And then you got Jadow as the only redeeming family member that points out the shit, which makes the whole family picnic trip worth it.

21:05, To be fair, this has been a thing since The New Adventures of Batman and Robin where the two were given much more chemistry together. But yeah, they should not have carried it over into the Arkhamverse in this game.

There's also Honkai Impact 3rd, Honkai Star Rail, and Genshin Impact that at least have likable characters that can keep people engaged as the story updates. Hell, Hi3 actually has at least somewhat of a concrete ending and its current story is basically a part 2.

Honestly, Genshin Impact felt like void to me. The game didn't give me any emotions other than boredom, the grinding was boring and tedious, and i didn't have any fun whatsoever. And not even the characters gave me any satisfaction.

We're planning to play and livestream the expansions, but whether or not I'll make videos is still in the air. On one hand I doubt they'll change much or be that remarkable, but on the other fans are really curious and aren't buying the game to find out... so maybe.

I say this whenever successful live services are discussed. Warframe is still going strong since 2013 and is primarily a PvE game. But it's also worked on by incredibly passionate, player first developers who genuinely care about their game and its community. That's the issue with most failed live services. The people making them don't give a crap and miss the entire point of what makes service games work in the first place. This is merely the most recent example, but I could think of like... five more off the top of my head without even trying.

I looked up Warframe to see if it should have been on my list and it sounds more like an MMO than a Live service; with a focus on guilds and community... things this game didn't even scratch. I could easily be mistaken though; I haven't played it.

I would point out how Waller is stupid for having the squad kill the mind controlled League first instead of the one mind-controlling them…but as Assault on Arkham and Arkham Origins Blackgate made clear, Arkhamverse Amanda Waller is an idiot.

To the game's slightest credit, one of Waller's early speeches (and her secret plan they abandoned) make it clear she just friggin' hates Meta-Humans and was just looking for an excuse to bring down the Justice League. They don't develop or expand upon it, but it's there.

While it wouldn't have fixed a numerous amount of problems in the game or story, I feel that people would have been able to stomach this game more if they made the simple decision to have Batman be the one uncontrolled justice league member over Wonder woman. They are already uaing HIS contingencies and Wonder woman's contribution was minimal.

It can be a little unbalanced like a 4/5 D-list villains vs 1 hero, DBD style (or wasn’t there a Joker goons vs Batman mode that was already done once?)whatever makes it fun right? But you get to play the Justice League day one.

In fairness the 1st few issues of The Boys was part of DC

1:21 I don't think I've heard a better rant for the current state of DC than this. Really seems like we're witnessing the end of an era or something (or it's all just an in the moment deal). Warner is (insert bad word here) so bad I'm not sure David Zaslav will even be able to find his increasingly mythic buyer. This seriously looks like a company at the end of it's life and this wretched game seems like proof of that.

Even if they get rid of David Zaslav at this point, I think the damage is done. It doesn't look like there's a lot of hope for WB at this point from all the dire news we've heard. That's why I'm not excited for James Gunn's take on DC films: between Zaslav's leadership and the way the DCEU changed creatives nonstop, I have no faith he'll get further than two movies beford executives burn everything down.

Superman Legacy (or Superman as it was just retitled for some god forsaken reason) seems like a failure in the making with how blotted it's cast is, and even if it actually is successful, it will never make up for the 50 Billion+ dollars of debt Warner is in. Not to mention Warner having zero trust in their own damn directors. Lord have mercy at least that Disney doesn't swoop in and buy up DC when Warner goes into liquidation. And please let Matt Reeves finish his Batman Trilogy! I'll die happy with that alone at this point. (Got a bit melodramatic there. lol 😅)
