Suicide Risk Assessment in Children & Adolescents
Dr. Tyler R. Black
In youth, suicide is the second leading cause of death, with more youth dying by suicide than by any combination of medical illness. Suicidal gestures and attempts are brought for medical attention but often physicians struggle with trying to guarantee safety in the absence of any evidence-based guidelines. This presentation will provide an overview of what constitutes a suicide risk assessment, and assist with the development of a dialogue with all of patients about suicide and self-harm.
