the Folgore paratroopers distinguished themselves in the battle of EL-ALAMEIN during ww2, when without ammunitions, weapons, or supplies, they managed to resist against the allies forces, opposing a coalition of armies more numerous and armed compared to them, giving time to the german forces to withdraw, also known "the best victory of Rommel, the retreat from the desert".
Among the many episodes of bravery of the other italian troops in the desert, the most known episode is where the paratroopers unearthed British mines only with knives and barehands, wetting them with grease, and using them against the british and american tanks running toward them to make them blow up- (the scene is well portrayed in the movie "la battaglia di el alamein)
Still today the paratroopers celebrate the anniversary of that battle.

in that battle, English lost over 200 tanks, mainly due to Italian infantry armed with bombs and tank mines (by hand). No USA support, No British victory!

@@mark12358 200 tanks...a full armoured division!!! The Brits lost over 500 in total during the second battle of El Alamein. Take that Albion!!!
Wonderfull to see those British APC's that were introduced in the 1970's and used by the British Army Of the Rhine. I.D. ex squaddie.

I dare say a lot of Italian troops did fight bravely during WW2 but why choose such a bad, bull-s**t movie to "honour" them? It kinda detracts from the point you're trying to make. It's AWFUL dude!

When some movies got film immediately after WW2 it's normal to use the tanks you got, apparently they didn't have the actual British light and medium tanks of the African campaign, after all the audience of normal people in the 60's didn't care too much about tank models, a "talk is a tank"

Bradleys didn't exist at the making of this film. Try M113s currently being used by Ukranians....what a joke!!!
Just the British commonwealth, WITHOUT the overwhelming US support (M3, M4, guns, ammo, raw materials and so on), they would have been destroyed just by the DAK and Italian forces in Afrika. At least, they lose forever their colonial empire (and the colonies stolen to Germany and France, too).
