Theres no contest.Suhrs are way better than any fender.Suhr was a master builder at fender custom shop.Glad he makes his own basses now

Spalted maple top is the best one, because the tone is very rich, i think.
The classic J in lake placid blue sounded the best to me.

The Fender is a bit woodier and muffled, which makes it sound great in the mix with the kick drum, and I think there is a subtlety to the sound. I think that's what really matters about a bass (and a bass player), how it sits in relation to the drums and as well as the rest of the band.
It sounds to me like the pickup volumes are not blended equal on the Fender as on the others. Sounds like its favouring the bridge pickup a little....for fingerstyle I like the blue suhr and for slap the ash maple
That first 1/16 note of the fourth beat of the third measure is an E flat played on the 11th fret of the E string with your pinkie. Not an E natural on the seventh fret of the A string......for the sake of authenticity.

Suhrs are fatter, cut through more, and are a dream in terms of playability, construction, and feel.

Fender! Old and endless warm sound, vibe! Suhr is hifi, cold. I go with fender!
IMO the Suhr custom classic in natural sounded best - had a throaty mid-range that the others lacked.
Fender nothing can beat that;)

suhr way better.Fender is outdated
it's total BS. I got a chance to play suhr jazzbass and it did not sound better than Fender JB 64 custom ship.
