Talking about schools -- I went exclusively to public schools in Sugar Land, from Commonwealth Elementary to Clements High School. I'm now getting my PhD at a top program and I still think of my Sugar Land teachers as some of the best I ever had. From my kindergarten class alone we had people go on to do their undergrad at Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Duke, and Vanderbilt out of a class of just 20 or so kids (and of course a bunch went to UT Austin and TAMU). Which is to say that the public schools are truly phenomenal in Sugar Land.

Great video ! Looking to head that way . Currently Conroe/willis/woodlands . Too rural. Sugarland is gorgeous , schools are A and B rating lots to do but more innovative and amenities and still has nice suburbs feel still ❤

One possible negative is Sugar Land has an extremely strong homeowners association in First Colony. That might not be for everybody.. And I noticed the newer more Innovative entertainment venues seem to be heading to Katy. Like Tiger Woods mini golf course. A new Innovative Target is going to Katy. Seems like every time I read about something new it's going to Katy. I think Sugar land has a possibility of getting a little stale or outdated. Just my observation as someone who recently moved to Sugar Land this past summer. And although Sugar Land on the whole is very safe, I have read more than I expected on next door people reporting potential home invasions where guys come up to their door trying to scam their way into the house. I personally think I had such an incident and I've only been here less than 6 months. So people shouldn't get too lulled into a false sense of security. Notwithstanding than those potential negatives, I absolutely love it here, wouldn't live anywhere else. I moved halfway across the country to specifically live in Sugar Land and don't regret a thing.

@@livinginhtx Do you have an suggestions for which part (subdivision) is best? From what I was reading there seems to be an issue with theft, and residential and apartment break-ins. I wonder if it's really that common or just what is to be expected for any city.

@@mercedesshort23 I live in Sugar Land, I don't really get word of really any crime, and don't see much on the local news. The only recent thing I can think of is a murder suspect from about 35 miles away from here trying to pass through here to run away and ignited a police chase, but easily got caught. Granted, that does seem like it is bad, but that is the only thing I remember hearing of within the last 1-2 years. However, many websites rank Sugar Land in the top 10 suburbs of Texas due to amazing school systems and low crime as well as great outdoor and family activities available. The home values also have risen here. My house which was bought for around $550k has recently risen to 900k-1M, so that could be a good or bad investment based on how you view it. I even grew up here and loved it, ended up coming back here since no other city/suburb could match how happy this place made me feel.
