Cameroon pidgin is a direct off shoot off Salone Krio. Many Krio Salone Folks moved to The English speaking part off Cameroon in the early 1900s, same as Equatorial Guinea and Gambia.

The Krio language is an offshoot of the languages and variations of English brought by the Nova Scotian Settlers from North America, Maroons from Jamaica, and the numerous liberated African especially the Igbo, Yoruba and Akan were the most influential. The early roots of Krio go back to the Atlantic slave trade era in the 17th and 18th centuries when an English-based "pidgin" language (West African Pidgin English, also called Guinea Coast Creole English) arose to facilitate the coastal trade between Europeans and Africans. it was the Sierra Leone Krio language that spread all over the west Africa cost into different flavours😃.

The 🇸🇱 guy representing us does not really understand Krio that well.. Because what you people don’t Know is that creole is a tribe and a particular set of people from Sierra Leone.. so not everybody can speak the real Krio..it just not a slang but a tribe. example we say problem and trouble we don’t use wahala that much”. We also go say “u don make thing worst..or you don passmark am

The word is not krio, it's out of ignorance that people call it that way. The language is called creole and the people are called krios. Until one study the history of Sierra Leone it's very difficult to understand the differences of the two words.

Kushe means: "thank you for the work you are doing" the normal response is Kaboh which means: "You're welcome" . Yes Kushe is a greeting but it is a situational greeting which some how so many non-Krio Sierra Leoneans go about telling is the standard greeting in Krio. Krio has no standard greeting
