    I tend to get addicted to sugar but every time I get the flu or some fairly serious infection and I get migraines with severe nausea for days I stop eating anything beyond healthy whole foods simply because I can't stand all that processed crap. It makes me throw up. Afterwards, there is a great window of opportunity to NOT get back into the addiction by being very careful to avoid those foods completely, which I have termporarily stopped craving. Sadly, it IS a case of all or nothing, as in any addiction, so if I slip I tend to get back into the addiction over time

    I wanted to add that plant-based low-GI is the only thing that keeps my migraines at bay. I wore a CGM after doing an elimination diet b/c I still had 5-6/month, and they correlated with spikes. Once I removed grains and most beans except soybeans, I got rid of the last of my migraines, so I definitely think keto or low GI is something to try. My neurologist says may be insulin sensitivity, so I will try to reintroduce these again after I've had time to make cells more sensitive.

    Thank you for this episode! If there is any advice re boosting fats in the diet when you suffer from migraine but have high cholesterol (hypothyroidism) that would be so so appreciated. 🙏🏼

    That is my question also. Because of my hypothyroidism, I deal with high cholesterol and I am a chronic migraine sufferer.

    I completely agree that if you go cold turkey with sugar (which I did on January 1st 2024) you will feel no need for this sugar within days. I can also report over 21lb weight loss with no effort (honestly)

    In terms of headaches/migraines on keto, more often than not, it's usually extra sodium that is required as the kidneys get more efficient at getting rid of salt on keto

    What d you do when your significant other doesn’t want to eat healthy (meaning the way you suggest to eat to be healthy)? Tried to work on that with him for years now and he is still reluctant and we often get into arguments about that. It’s really frustrating and I am usually eating alone since he also has different eating windows (like eating every three hours or more frequently…).

    I had migraines for 20+ years. Eggs and wheat eliminated and migraines are gone. I wish neurologists would recommend looking at food sensitivities.

    Dr hyman thank you for all that you do ! I know this is off your subject but can you do a topic on vasectomies there isn’t much conflicting information out there on it but I know it isn’t normal to the body and I’d like to know your point of view and or maybe your colleagues thank you so much for truly caring for people and all that you do. If there is anyone out there reading this that had it done and is older like 70+ I’d like to hear your comment thanks

    I take thyroid meds- T4 is the inactive form, T3 is the active form. Since everyone can't convert T4 to T3 efficiently I actually take two thyroid meds one pure T3 , one pure T3. Hope that helps

  • @jeanklotz-ryerse3357

    @jeanklotz-ryerse3357

    If the t4 is not getting into your cells, it will not become t3 and therefore no good. Useless to take t4 if it doesn't work. And it does not most of the time because it's floating around your blood yes. But not getting to the cell to move on. There are more in depth thyroid tests for this, thst Doctors don't do... you have to ask. Ck your selenium, zink, and copper levels. The thyroid needs these to make the t4 go into your cells to make t3 which needs to get to the pituitary for proper hormone distribution.
