The opportunity was sadly missed by the conservatives when they chose Teresa May, finding they`d made a mistake they then replacing her with Boris Johnson , and they greatly regretted that later, proving they made yet another wrong choice. But not content with making those mistakes they went on to make two further consecutive mistakes by choosing Liz Truss and then Rishi Sunak. They could have avoided wasting all that time by choosing wisely and choosing Suella Braverman in the first place .Bad judgement, proving incompetent MPs have been running our Country.

@@MichaelPetek You conveniently leave out the right to kick 3rd world parasites, rapists and jihadists out of UK and to block freeloaders with no loyality to UK from coming here and living off tax payers while claiming endless benefits, never working as in the case of many muslim women and then outbreeding us while our taxes pay for their 6 bed houses and educating their whole army of kids so they may end up in positions of power where they make decisions based on helping their own kind aka muslims, Pakistani's, Somalians etc at the expense of British and European natives. The natives who have watched their streets turn to violence, arena bombing, beheadings, acid attacks, increasing crime, lack of housing, buckling NHS and every weekend Islamist marches. People are sick of the politicising, the increasing demands such as the Michaela School's Katherine Birbalsingh taken to court by a muslim pupil for not allowing prayer rooms and division in schools based on religious affairs. The rest of the humans rights will not only remain, they will be stronger as we will support the rights of victims over the rapist parasites and extremist jihadists and preachers of a faith we do not care to introduce in every facet of British life, yet constantly infiltrates everything with outlandish demands while also being militarily controlling, opaque in it's operations and producing underground networks of a brotherhood conspiring to dominate Britain through warfare, outbreeding and the help of ECHR traitors and master parasites. Those who throw EU under the bus for their own globalist agendas to increase arrivals in EU so they can barcode and control more of the human population with NI numbers, bank accounts and mobile phone + all other types of documentation they use to count and manipulate people. ECHR are not in the business of fairness. It is unfair to saddle us with the criminals and other prisoners released from 3rd world conflicts to make their way into a completely different way of life in the EU. Brexit was to stop this so we at least have time to assimilate the millions of people already coming in and develop the infrastructure and competency to actually give natives and those who came here legally, a better life.

This is such an important issue; leaving the ECHR is a foundational plank in the restoration of national sovereignty and accountability. Suella's has been the clearest voice in the UK on this question for some time now, and she has sacrificed short-term political prestige in adherence to this idea. She is therefore, in my view, a trustworthy individual whose leadership conservatives should support. So, how do we proceed from here Suella? After the next election the Conservatives will have an opportunity to reshape themselves and regain popular support. Should they be ready to do that, I, among many others I'm sure, would support Suella for the leadership. If not, what is the way forward? Reform?

I agree with much of Braverman's speech, but sending a letter of Article 58 terminating membership of the ECHR is not just a matter for Sunak PM, it would require an Act of parliament giving it approval first, in exactly the same way our exit was done for the EU. (Gina Miller case)

The ECHR is incorporated into Strand 1 of the Good Friday Agreement which is an International Treaty recognised by the United Nations of which the British and Irish governments are co guarantors. Any changes to the Good Friday Agreement will require the agreement of the parties in Northern Ireland and the Irish Government.

@@michaelogrady1002 Yes, the UN and Ireland would have no choice but accept another international court, such as the ICC based in Paris, or alternatively tear up the GFA. The latter would be better, ideally coming to another agreement to redraw the border between NI and Ireland.

Sunak the whimp has nothing to lose by getting out of the ECHR because the Tories are going to get chucked out anyway, but he could give us this as his legacy. Ffs I wish someone in power would stand up to the plate and do something.

I've often heard people level criticism at this Braverman and her supporters, similar criticisms being levelled at Farage, GBN and a host of others. Notwithstanding the fact that Farage received a salary from Brussels and continues to receive a pension that I think we should ignore, really, as otherwise the criticisms might be given unfair weight. I digress. The criticisms most often relate to misrepresentation of the facts in order to appeal to a portion of society that is lacking in intellectual capacity. Obviously this requires closer examination as, by implication, the criticism extends to their supporters who, aside from being seen as intellectually-challenged, are viewed as barely literate, racist, likely to speak and perhaps act violently and who are so cowed by peer pressure that the ability to think independently eludes them. What their mates think carries more weight than actual facts. You can draw your own conclusions regarding the validity of those criticisms by reading the comments on this post and posts regarding similar topics.
