wastelands
i watch you drift away around the room in that dress
the jewels on your bracelet have seen their best
i watch the sweat form against your clothes
i’ve seen the look on their faces i think they know,
that the clock is ticking away and the wind is calling us
and the pleasantries will chain us no more
when it all is much too much we’ll run to the wastelands
where the snow is all there is and words sound different
when it all is much too much meet me in the wastelands
where the fear will fade away
where the children in us play
i walk the smoky room and stumble into you
the chattering of their voices says nothing new
but the clock is ticking away and the wind is calling us
and the way you make your exit there are no words
when it all is much too much we’ll run to the wastelands
park the car beside the road and take each other
when it feels like much too much meet me in the wastelands
where the horror slowly fades where the children in us play
when the world is much too much we’ll run to the wastelands
leave footprints in the snow till our ties are severed
when it all is much too much meet me in the wastelands
make a chain of flowers like our ties are severed
when the world is much too much meet me in the wastelands
park the car beside the road and take each other
when the world is much too much meet me there in the wastelands
and the wind is on our face and our veins are opened
when the world is much too much meet me there in the wastelands
make a chain of flowers and the children in us play

I'm actually happy with these past 3 albums. Suede has maintained that sense of melancholy that made me fall in love with them in the first place.

You know Night Thoughts is kind of a cross between the energy of Coming Up with the emotion of Dog Man Star!!! I know this tracks from another album but that’s the feeling I get!!!
@davidoof1826
Жыл бұрын
Yes. At the time I've loved the pop swagger of Coming Up but albums after that made me want the twisted glamour and melancholy kitchen sink melodrama of the first two albums. The post-reformation albums have brought that back. I'm not sure if any one album matches the debut or DMS but many of these later album songs would easily feature in a Suede Top 10.
These are the glory days of Suede. Total legends

The opiate-mist of the 90's has gone. The lovers of the 90's has gone. The lonely night walks of the 90's has gone. But Suede is eternal, life is golden.

Lonely night walks aren't going anywhere.
A brilliant, simple and pure pop promo. A wonderful track taken from an instantly classic album. That's the beauty of Suede at their finest. They take the 'other', the lost, the wasted and make it intoxicating. They are the kings of British guitar music. And yet they meltdown their golden crowns and give it back to their audience with every new album and every gig.

This album is amazing. A mature, professional sounding elegantly melancholic beautiful masterpiece.
Most bands who reform after a gap of several years have lost it when they come to write songs again. Suede are three albums in from the come back and they have clearly still got it!

There was a long long time since I didnt find an album to hear from beginning to end!! to cruise it, to navigate it completely. That is to me the ultimate test forn an album, that you dont want to forward or skip any song, nor even mess with the order. It was a while until Night Thoughts arrived!! and this album seems to have that potential too!!
"The Blue Hour" is fantastic. My favorite album among those released in 2018.
What makes suede great is their vocal & guitar sound. Suede wouldn't be Suede without Brett Anderson's vocal or Richard's guitar riffs.

Got to love the menacing and shimmering Suede guitars. And the voice of Brett of course.

I would love to tell to my future generations that "the clock is ticking away", but sadly my older generation didn't get that memo.. SO, now it's more like: Good luck with the weather and sleep before the black rain falls...
Suede is one of the bands that marked my life. Impossible not to like them. Bliss!
It's amazing that this great band is still alive. I love the new songs. Obviously, they sound completely different to their music of their beginning. Those songs that made Suede immortal. They evolve like every band and person whit the pass of the time. SUEDE will be always in our hearts and they belong to the history of the music.
I am so amazed that nobody in the states knows who Suede is. They are still one of the greatest bands ever, with such a unique sound. This tune is beauty again. Please tour the US soon!

Isn't there a copyright issue in the US that means they have to release under "The London Suede" - I thought the litigation around that meant they never did much in the US in the early days & now they're probably seen as "too old" to start trying to build a US following.

I'm in TX and have loved them since the mid 90s. I'm showing my age :-) Fell off my playlist for whatever reason for a long time, and just recently rediscovered how truly good they are! All the songs I've loved 20+ years ago still sound good today. Them and the Manic Street Preachers... so underrated and should've been huge in the US!

This is already one of my favorite videos from suede... of all time!! Life is golden is also fantastic! These 2 videos managed to match images with the song very well.

a yearning, a pain, a bittersweet feeling of being alone connected with everyone with the dark love for me and others - certainly everything will flow
Maybe my favourite in the last album. Touch me very deep inside 💜

Beautiful song for a new great album!! Welcome back Suede!! Ciao Brett!! ;D :D :D XXXXXXXX
Welcome back Suede. Gonna buy the new album soon.
It's mesmerizing , it's like Poetry in Motion !!! Suchhhaaaa WAISTTTTTLANDDDDD
Fantastic Album.
Excelente canción, y muy buen video, ojala toquen en CHILE , nuevamente.¡¡
