About The Cardigans:
The Cardigans’ sound is often described as an eclectic fusion of pop, rock, and alternative influences. Alongside catchy melodies, thoughtful lyrics, and lead vocalist Nina Persson’s distinctive voice, their playful approach has resulted in beloved hits like “Lovefool,” “My Favourite Game”, “Step on Me” and over 15 million sold albums - globally. Besides making their mark on the charts, their music has been used to enhance cult TV-series and movies like Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo & Juliet, The Office and The Crown. Further enriching their legacy and solidifying their place in ’90s pop culture and beyond.
My Favourite Game Lyrics:
I don't know what you're looking for
You haven't found it baby, that's for sure
You rip me up, you spread me all around
In the dust of the deed of time
And this is not a case of lust, you see
It's not a matter of you versus me
It's fine the way you want me on your own
But in the end it's always me alone
And I'm losing my favourite game
You're losing your mind again
I'm losing my baby
Losing my favourite game
I only know what I've been working for
Another you so I could love you more
I really thought that I could take you there
But my experiment is not getting us anywhere
I had a vision I could turn you right
A stupid mission and a lethal fight
I should have seen it when my hope was new
My heart is black and my body is blue
And I'm losing my favourite game
You're losing your mind again
I'm losing my favourite game
You're losing your mind again
I'm losing my baby
Losing my favourite game
I'm losing my favourite game
You're losing your mind again
I tried, I tried, (but you're still the same) I tried
I'm losing my baby
You're losing a saviour and a saint

I love it when someone states the obvious. How could music supposedly 'age'? It's recorded, so it always sounds the same. At most, it could be produced in a different era. And since modern times are supposedly worse than the past, today's music sucks too. That's why anyone who respects their eardrums and their musical taste doesn't listen to that crap. As for the rest of the normal music, you just listen to it, 'just like that.' What normal person actually wonders when a certain album was recorded to decide whether it's worth listening to? It's not like a pack of hot dogs that can go bad after the expiration date. I don't remember seeing those stickers on albums!

Discovered this song as a kid in the 90s playing Gran Turismo 2 like so many others in these comments, and this song still gives me goosebumps as much as it did back then, and I’m 33 now. Forever my favorite song.

Nothing wrong with that at all! I was in my early teens during their prime and graduated in 99... 20 years later, I started singing their music out of the blue and had to keep singing to recall the name of the band! There's nothing like that nowadays... They really should've been far bigger than they were.

Gran Turismo is such a great album, from the grungier tones of 'Starter' and 'Do You Believe' to the more poppy sound of 'Erase/Rewind' and 'My Favourite Game' to the otherworldly sounds of 'Nil' and 'Higher' - while the Cardigans are known for only a few of their songs, their musical breadth was massive

I just adore every single song on every album - they make me want to cry from the rush of melancholy but it's ok to let it out sometimes, I suppose🤫
Just started s6e5 of The Crown and the first notes of this song sent me into a tailspin trying to figure out why it was so familiar. I was born in '90 and, despite it taking a minute to place where I knew this from, I feel like The Cardigans are part of the permanent subconscious framework that determined my taste in music.

@robertmcmillan3638
4 жыл бұрын
Yeah. A lot of music, T.V, Video games and films were great works of art throughout the 80's, 90's and early to mid 00's. Now there's practically nothing special in any artistic field from one year to the next. It's as if the Human race has just had all the creativity sucked out of us and we're left with utter, utter mediocrity.
@robertmcmillan3638
4 жыл бұрын
@LazicStefan Well Society nowadays has a lot to answer for, for sure. But I still don't get where all the creativity went? There was such a thing as leftwingers, homo's, anti capitalist's, racists, girl power, boardroom executives etc over the last 40 odd years, but people still did a ton of interesting movies, music, video games and comedy. Where did all the creativity go? And more importantly the results of their creativity?
@robertmcmillan3638
4 жыл бұрын
@LazicStefan Still doesn't explain where all the creativity went? People are born with a sense of creativity, it's not taught. Maybe everything has genuinely been done? because older artists that have been about for decades who still ply their trade are mediocre nowadays as well. Can't blame the school system for the middle aged musicians and artists drying up as well. My own experience would suggest also that we learn more about stuff outside of school than when we do in school. I do think though that schools nowadays are probably reflecting society and society now is s#1t.

I've always said: Good music doesn't have an expiration date. And I don't even think that there are many people that believe it does. Thanks to the internet people all over the world have access to music from any period and they DO go back. I am a hobby DJ and it's astounding how many young people not just know but fucking love songs that are older than themselves! It is heart warming if they ask me to play a song from the days I was a teenager. I mean, by definition (older than 25 years) songs from Nirvana are legit "oldies". Cypess Hills "Insane in the brain" is an oldie. RATM's "Killing in the name" is an oldie. It's hard to wrap you head around but they are. And yet there will be young guys (and gals!) that ask me to play it. And even though it is an overplayed staple, it is a beauty to see these young ones headbanging and pogoing and screaming FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME! at the top of their lungs every time.

Great Hit!
MAN, u can't believe how many years I was seeking for this song. Had no idea where I used to listen to it while a lil kid. Year after year, during the christmas holidays, I used to spend hours and hours playing every damn early 2000 playlists on youtube on hope to somehow find this song. I feel like I completed my life now.

It was so long, because you were looking in wrong playlists - the song/video is not from early 2000s, its from late 1990s (1998). ))

One of my favorite music videos of all times. It's kind of symbolic to how there are some people in life who are so toxic that they end up hurting so many others along the way while trying to find some purpose/happiness in their own miserable lives but to no avail.

That's an excellent interpretation of this music video. This is one of my favorite songs from the 90s. As far as the actual lyrics of the song are concerned, I that one could interpret them as being about a troubled relationship. A relationship where one person is trying to change the other, presumably for the better, but it doesn't work out.
@diegoestebanfalco7690

I think its not only about a toxic relationship but a violent one instead. "You're losing your mind again" "My heart Is black and my body Is blue" "A saviour and a saint" I think it's a really deep song.

I thought it may have had something to do about drug use, and it's destructive effects on relationships. Perhaps that's what the bandaged arm may signify. Who knows!

👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 That's the magic of a song... Everyone can interpret it according to a lot of different factors, like his mood of the day, a good/bad day, his own personal and emotional projections, etc... This interpretation is one of many, many others...But it is not my interpretation...
I watched Grand Turismo intro again and again for the feeling of this song@! I loved it! I

Just “re-found” this song after years of having forgotten that it exists. So glad I did! It’s on my playlist I use at my boring work, to make it more tolerable. 😜
Born 91, blasting this shit out of oblivion.
This song has been engraved in my head since i was a kid and till this day i never knew who sang it but i knew it was from a racing game i played as a kid. Im currently watching The Crown and it played on one of the episodes. The way i ran to KZread to look it up and find that the game was Grand Turismo. Finally after all these years!! I can die in peace now 😅
I love this whole album 😁

This is one of the walk out songs at Sunderland. Republica were asked to play it pre match when the Stadium of Light had just opened. Story goes the band were crying after experiencing the immense reaction they got from the full house after playing this.
