Sudan War: How Two Generals Destroyed Their Country

Since April 15, 2023, Sudan has been engulfed in a civil war between the nation’s military, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). This conflict has thrown the country into chaos and devastation.
At the heart of this conflict are two powerful generals: Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, whose rivalry has led to widespread destruction and suffering.
Their struggle for power has resulted in brutal clashes, civilian casualties, and a severe humanitarian crisis.
In this episode of African Biographics,we explore the origins and impact of this devastating war and the key figures driving it.

To the High-Level Decision Makers of Sudan, Esteemed State Leaders, Military Chiefs, Temporary Opponents, Generals, Prominent Figures, Scholars, Business Owners, Diaspora Groups, and Activists, The time has come to end the conflict that has brought our nation to the brink. It is imperative that you all come together, sit around the table, and engage in a dialogue rooted in genuine concern for our nation's future. The discussions must be frank, addressing the concrete gaps and differences that have divided us. For the sake of Sudan’s natural grassroots, it is essential to respect our nation's heritage and work collaboratively towards peace. Our people deserve a future free from war and instability. Let us honor their hopes and dreams by reaching a sustainable agreement that benefits all.

I wish you goofballs would read for once in your life. In the well known Arabic grammar classical book Lisaanul Arab written by a Sudanese person the tongue of the Arab. An Arab is defined by any person, group or people whose mother tongue is Arabic. Since Sudanese mother tongue is Arabic they are Arabs . Arab isn’t a race. In the Quran Arabs are mentioned as a bedouins desert dwellers. Arab isn’t a race. It is a culture, a lifestyle, a mother tongue spoken . This is why Arab call non native Arabic speakers ‘ajami which means foreign or non Arabic speaker .

Exactly. As an African living in the UK, there's no shortage of people flooding the streets to protest about the Israel-Palestine conflict. Some of these people even openly support Hamas, which is corrupt (with billionaire leaders) and intolerant (they've thrown political rivals and gay people off rooftops). And yet none of these 'activists' seem to possess sufficient overall knowledge or interest in the geo-politics of the Middle East and Horn of Africa, which makes me question their competence and motives.

What exactly is the solution these people should protest for buddy? "Please military generals be nice?" Also, the fact you'd love to focus on hamas crimes as if hamas wasn't having a approval rating of 30 percent pre october 7 and the following genocide thay is still happening speaks volumes. Why aren't you blaming sudanese civilians for their undemocratic governments? You want solidarity yet you refuse to give it to others who are suffering. Good luck with that.

Some warlord calling himself a general, does not make him a geberal in fact, a camel trader with three years of elementary school can not be a general, you need a highschool diploma and then a military academia and a degree, or a civil degree and miltary school, any combo of it, to be an officer, any rank officer and to ger a chance becoming a general obe day, otherwise you can get a battlefield promotion in some cases into and officer, but only to lt or cpt rank at best, no you can't get a cpt rank without formal education. And with only three years of education you couldn't become a general even 2k years ago in ancient romw or chartage, it doesn't work like that, i chopped the most heads as a drugged kid, i'm a general now, that just sad, if he was a general in sudan before this war started and considered a general, it only shows that sudan wasn't a country but a tribal turf, nothing more to it.

When are these guys gonna understand that the struggle should always be about their country and not about them ,what a shame and a disgrace, Sudan has always been unfortunate to be blessed with selfish leaders, who seems to care about themselves and not their country I am sick and tired of watching and listening to these documentaries about some of our African leaders. 😢😢And when they finish making a mess of their country. Has to go begging for help to build back the same thing you destroyed. Sorry brother if I sound cold ,but is leaders like these that keep Gavin Africa a bad name you cannot realistically get some kind of peace without some level of respect and understanding thus that's why this war can never get no clear winner, while the people you're professing to love so much continues to suffer because of your selfish behavior, Shame on both of them

"Arab" holds more of a cultural designation then a racial one in the region. This leads many in the Sudan, 70% from last I remember, identifying as Arab as that is what many derive their cultural identity from, be it language, customs, religion and to some degree ancestry due to migrations and mixing of Arab tribes with the local Nilotic African natives in the Sudan over the centuries. However if we are going by western definitions of race, then yes the vast majority of Sudan is predominately black in appearance or mixed race. Essentially on average Sudanese Arabs are as about "Arab" genetically as the average African American is "white", anything from 10% to 45%. I would recommend not reading too deep into these classifications otherwise they inevitably don't make sense in a different cultural context.

I hope this gets no press because the more it does the more people blame arabs or Muslims instead of trying to help in the way people spreading the information think it does. Sudan needs to crush Darfur and put extreme border security with Uncivilized Chad and warmongering Ethiopia. Its the fault of our neighbors
