✅ Thanks so much for watching! ✅ A big shout out to all of the subscribers out there - I appreciate you! ✌️✌️✌️ ✅ Another way to subtract a fraction from a whole number is to convert the whole number to a fraction, find a common denominator (this will be the denominator of the fraction being subtracted), rename the whole number fraction so it has that common denominator, then subtract. EXAMPLE: 6 - 5/8 = 6/1 - 5/8 = 48/8 - 5/8 = 43/8 = 5 and 3/8

How did you get 5 as a group number...I still don't understand how 8 over 8 is a whole number 😳
@Minion.luvrr77
2 жыл бұрын
so 8 over 8 equals 1 as to let’s say 4 over 4 it’ll still equal 1 so basically if it’s the same number as a fraction it will always equal to one
thank's mr.J
you know what mr. j you explain it well thats way many people likes you as ther teacher write

You could also multiply the denominator by the whole number,(6*8) create an improper fraction( 48/8), and then subtract 48/8-5/8). After that, simplify to get 5 and 3/8.

What if the smaller fraction was on the larger whole number so 5 5/8 -8/8
What if the whole number is 1? As in 1-(-4/3)
@ashley46mvvian
Жыл бұрын
its like 1 - 1. it will be 0 so then you don't have a whole number lets say its 1 - 2/3. you turn the 1 into 3/3 because its a whole number and your taking one of the whole number from the 1 so that means you have 0. 0 is 0. you get rid of the whole number so its just a normal fraction. therefore your problem is 3/3 - 2/3 = 1/3 and also your probably never gonna get a problem like that. (3/3 - 4/3)
